1. Harry Dresden - I love these books. My BIL recommended them to me. Who doesn't love some fantasy mixed with their mysteries.
2. Mikael Blomkvist - I first read the original 3 when they first came out. I haven't read the newer ones yet, but they are sitting on my shelf.
3. Eddie Flynn - I was introduced to this series with Th1rt3en and I was hooked.

I'm aiming to get to the tagged, but January didn't really happen, so who knows? 😂
I‘m glad I read the book before looking at Goodread reviews, I may have passed on it.
I actually like the MC, and yes some of the women characters are a bit on the screechy side lol (so I can understand some of the negative reviews) but it did not stop me from liking the book.
It was entertaining while working. Quick audio book.
1.5⭐The only reason I finished this book is because it was for book club. The world is fascinating but Dresden is a chauvinistic ass. I've been told he gets better after book 3, but I have no interest in trudging through more books to find out.
Harry Dresden is a wizard. He‘s also a struggling PI. When gruesome paranormal murders take place, the Chicago PD calls on Harry to help solve the crime. That puts Harry on the radar of some nefarious criminals, and the White Council, the group responsible for overseeing the paranormal to ensure everyone is playing by the rules. Fast paced, action packed and necessary world building. Looking forward to the next book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5

Sunday plans. First, someone needs to move from my spot. 😂❤️📚🐾 #weekendvibes #weekendisbooked #dogsoflitsy #dog #miniaturepoodle #watchdog #amreading #booksandcoffee #booksandbeans #booksanddogs #dresdenfiles
I didn't realize that the narrator of The Dresden Giles was James Marsters! He has nice voice to listen too. I'm not sure that I will like the books but giving it a shot since it's been on my TBR forever. There was a prompt in a challenge for a male author so i picked it. Anybody a fan of the series?
December pick has to be the first Dresden Files novel. Not a 5-star read, but entertaining and the entrance to a rabbit hole.

Wanted to wait until #SeriesLove2023 started, but well...
Entertaining Urban Fiction.
Harry might be a bit old-fashioned, but I can see myself spending more time with him.

This was my irl bookclub's pick for the month. I thought the magic system was super interesting & the main character was delightfully snarky. It played on an old noir theme with a very dark magical murder to solve. There were some issues with misogynistic descriptions about women & not giving enough background info on some aspects of the magical world. But as first in a series and one of this author's earliest books, there's room for improvement.
Witty, entertaining, magical, crime, sarcasm and a talking skull named Bob. This book was so good! I was recommended this book years ago but never read it because I didn't think I'd like it. It is such a good story. Think witches and law and order. It is a five star and I WILL be reading the rest of the series!
This is one of my favorite books still.
The first book I thought of for today‘s #Pub prompt is the Dresden Files series and McAnally‘s Pub 🍻🍀 #AccordedNeutralTerritory

This one was recommended to me by a friend, and I really wanted to like it, and I really just don't. I'm all for trying different kinds of books, but I can't get invested in or enjoy this one.

I've been really sick this week with new med side effects, and my go-to activity when I feel pukey is listening to my comfort rereads, like Sookie and Dresden. I listened to these 5 this week while wallowing. (I've also had my TV set to Hallmark for cheesy Christmas movies all weekend 😁).

Thank you for this #Two4Tuesday @TheSpineView and for the tag @Branwen 😀
1. I‘d gladly read about both witches and wizards! 🧙♀️🧙♂️
2. I‘m cheating a bit and instead of a book, I‘m going with my favorite series… Harry Dresden! Sure, most people would pick that “other” Harry‘s series, but the tagged book was my first foray into urban fantasy, and I loved reading about a snarky wizard interacting with all kinds of paranormal creatures! 👻🧛♀️
Day 36. #tbrpile
🎧 This will be my 3rd time reading this series.
I loved this TV series so much I read the books. Twice.
This is a good start to this series. You get to know who & what Harry is. You meet Bob, Murphy, Marcone, Morgan the warden, Carmichael, Mister (Harry‘s cat) & Susan the reporter.
Hearts are exploding out of people‘s chests, a frog faced demon attacks, giant scorpions & there‘s a new drug that makes your 3rd eye open.
Great series!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Back home to a quiet breakfast with my book #bookandtea
A witty fantasy story with adult themes. If Harry Potter grew up to be a broke and virtually friendless PI…. A lot of things going on with the plot, almost too much.
Certainly not a masterpiece, but moderately entertaining.
I started the Dresden Files this year and it has quickly become one of my favorite series I‘m currently reading. So far I‘ve read the first 3 books, 2 graphic novels, and a short story. I love the sarcasm and the way the characters act but that might be because I‘m from Chicago and it seems kind of nostalgic.
Check out my review of book 1: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3314427089
This was a bit of a meh read that went over to nope at times. But at least it was fast to read. I really didn‘t appreciate the way the female characters were depicted and I didn‘t care about Harry at all. But the magic system was cool and the plot was just interesting enough for me to keep reading. However I think it‘s safe to say that I won‘t be picking up the rest of the series.
This is a blame it on Litsy book. I saw a review and thought I have to read this. I loved the MC Harry Dresden. He has just the right amount of humility and coolness to go along with his wizardry that I found him fascinating. The plot was good and it was fast paced. Great start to the series. 4⭐
I‘ve been trying to get back into reading before going to bed lately. It‘s working out some of the time but I‘m still picking up my phone way more often than I‘d like😅 Hopefully this‘ll keep my interest tonight! #currentlyreading
An average good book. I liked the magical elements such as The Sight and the soulgazing. It reminded me a bit of the Rivers of London series, although more cynical (?)
I would read others, if they came on my path, but wouldn't hurry to the shops to buy.
TBR since September 13th. 2020; 341 pages.
I have been revisiting books from my past and it‘s been a good experience. I‘m more of a Harry Dresden fan now than when I started (and stopped) the series a few years ago.
I know that a lot of people love this series but it wasn't for me. I didn't establish any bond with the main character (and great characters are as important as a great plot to me). Another reason was that I didn't really enjoy the story arc; I was lost a bit and too many things happened seemingly randomly; I felt as if the lore and the world itself wasn't well thought through. It felt as if the author had a random checklist of things to include.
This book was awesome. It took some time for me to get used to the writing, not because it was complicated but because it was so unique. By the end, the writing grew on me & I loved it. My only complaint with the story was the irrelevance of the "all powerful" white council. There were instances when I hd to suspend disbelief but am letting it is pass in favor of my enjoyment percentage which was quite high.
50% in, I love the humour, the writing is different than I am used to. Strangely enough I am gripped by the story though I can't pinpoint to exactly what it is that I am liking or not liking about this book. It's a fast read so I am hoping to finish it soon enough. 🤞🤞
Not normally much of an audio girl but James Marsters as the narrator made all the difference! I‘ll for sure be checking book 2 out soonish. #scarathlon points total for #TeamSlaughter today. 5 for the book, 1 participation and 2 hours read x 2 readathons so 40 points) #cocoturns50 #readyourwayreadathon @Clwojick @TheSpineView
I‘ve never been one for audiobooks but when my oldest told me that Spike was the narrator, I just had to download from the library and give it a shot. Loving it so far! #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter #OutstandingOctober @Clwojick @Andrew65

1. If on a Winter‘s Night a Traveller... still.
2. I don‘t listen to them, but my friend recently played me a sample from Storm Front because the narrator made a lot of mouth sounds, and she wanted me to understand the pain it caused her. 😂
3. No preorders at the moment.

A re-listen for me. I love Harry and Butcher, and James doing the narrating just makes it so much better!! Now to download book two!
Rereading Dresden since a new book has been released.
I don't dislike this book but it's also not doing much for me and I'm starting to wonder if I should be reading it instead of listening. This is the first time I've experienced an adverse reaction to a narrator. I don't really have time to switch to reading it though...I need audiobooks to help me get through everything for #BookSpinBingo this month! 🙃
I had to go to the store today so I rewarded myself with some watermelon!! So yummy! I wore my mast and used hand sanitizer and social distanced by having my air pods in and listening to my book 😷 but I was very happy to be back home, safe!!
Started two new things recently, a YouTube channel and The Dresden Files. I‘m three books in and have two reviews up already. Trying to gain a following and would LOVE feedback. Here‘s a link for the first book and the second is up as well. Third coming soon! https://youtu.be/j4m_lBGamh0
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Can't decide if I should give it 3 or 4 stars. The story was enjoyable, and I loved the magic system. But it was a bit too fast-paced for me. And I always had a feeling that something was lacking.
I'll give the next book a try as I've heard it gets better. And I'd like to get to know Harry better. He seems like an interesting character.
Recommended to lovers of urban fantasy and fast-paced short reads.
Any of these sound good to you all? #lmpbc #groupd @InBooksILive @Endowarrior21 @rjsthumbelina
