IamIamIam Lol, I loved Confederacy of Dunces but it's definitely not for everyone. I saw them as cartoon characters. The original publisher who turned Toole down said he'd do it again in a second and Toole's mother held the publisher solely responsible for his suicide. I heard an interview on NPR & wish I could recall his name. 😖 5y

Nope 👎. Trite, cliche, Hollywood-ish, and over-acted. Huge disappointment. But then again, I don‘t like Harry Potter either.

mcipher I liked a few episodes and then the monologues got so bad. I finished it, but the end was just... not scary at all. And the monologues... I feel like the first funeral home episode it turned into a super dramatic play and never came back from that. 5y

cathysaid @mcipher EXACTLY!!! So it‘s not just me?!? First episode was just okay, a few more kept getting better, and then the last three were increasingly painful...and not in a good way. I kept thinking the director realized “oh yeah, this shares the title with a book...let‘s add some wandering, largely pointless monologues that nod ever-so-slightly to that book.” 🙄 (edited) 5y

mcipher No! Not just you. I‘m so glad you feel the same way!! It started off strong - the Nell episode was creepy and sad as heck. But the monologues, yeah. Pointless and wordy and so overly dramatic. And I don‘t remember a lot of the book but I know it‘s pretty short and not really over the top! 😆 5y

MicheleinPhilly @AlaMich I'm not much of a sweets person anyway so it's not a temptation issue. But every Halloween I end up buying Take 5s and then resist putting them in the bowl. And then I have to remind myself that I am an adult and I can buy them whenever I want and to stop being stingy. 7y

AlaMich @MicheleinPhilly I did not remember ever having or even seeing Take 5 candy bars, so I just looked it up and now I don't know how I have lived without them all this time! Sadly, I, unlike you, have a HUGE sweet tooth. It's a problem 😔 7y

DGRachel I was dead set against them when they first came out, but once I got my first one as a birthday or Christmas gift, I fell in love with the convenience. I'll always love "real" books and buy/collect print, but I can't imagine not having an ereader, too. 7y

Lynnsoprano One of the advantages of having one is space. I'm married to Mr. Neat, so when our bookshelves get overstuffed, he insists we get rid of some. Officially, I can't buy a new cookbook without giving one away. Actually, what he doesn't know won't hurt him🙄 7y

Zelma No judging whatsoever. I prefer paper books but my nook comes in handy for some hard-to-find titles and for enlarging print. On the flip side, I have never read anything on my phone and can't even imagine trying to. Way too small. 7y

Jhullie I'm the same. I read on my phone occasionally (Veronica Stallwood annoyingly only released the final book in the Kate Ivory series as an eBook) and I enjoy Serial Reader but give me an actual book any day. 7y

scripturient I do have an e-reader but definitely prefer physical books. I used it mostly when my son was little cause it was easier to use with one hand when I was breastfeeding or it was great for reading in the dark. Now I'm mostly back to paper books.
