The Crash | Freida McFadden
post image
Panpan

Very pregnant and distraught Tegan decides to drive in a blizzard to visit her brother so no surprise she crashes into a tree, what follows is a ridiculous series of events
3 thoughts on why I rated this ⭐⭐ 1. My head was spinning with character Polly, first she was sane then crazy then back sane again and so it continued 2. Everyone in Tegans life is out to get her including total strangers and 3. Her nickname for her unborn baby is "little tuna"

"You'd need the population of 123 million planet Earths to have a large enough population for it to be likely that two people share the same DNA profile"
This crime was unsolved for 30 years until genetic genealogy traced the DNA to a suspect.
Although it's closing ice cold cases I was surprised to learn the war between the leaders of the genealogy community involving privacy concerns. The evolution of DNA genealogy depicted was fascinating

Kiernan and Christa book a week at a mountain lodge but find themselves stranded in a blizzard with a group of strangers but one by one they are being killed off

This is packed with action, suspense and lots of twists. Just when you think you've figured out who the killer is you're thrown another curve ball. The bloody details are not for the squeamish but anytime the murder weapon is an axe the reader already knows what's in store for them

A couple, Felix and Faye has a weekend getaway to a remote cabin in middle of a snowy mountain forest and quickly find they are the target of an ancient evil entity

This was scary until it wasn't! It became repetitive and the "big secret" was a let down. I still recommend with a 4 star rating based solely on the first half of the book which will have you keeping all the lights on

Marine Biologist Danica inherits her father's boat salvaging business and a treasure map but the map gets accidentally sold to a rich professor, Cameron. They team up to find sunken treasure while dealing with a dirty salvage competitor.
This was an enjoyable read, adventure within a tropical setting and a non-cheesy romance. Although I found Cameron's mother and his mommy's boy demeanor annoying at times I'd still recommend. Book #1 in a series

A small ship went to the Mariana trench to film a mockumentary. No one survived, only short video clips of what appears to be mermaids killing everyone is left behind. Now 7 years later a cruise ship filled with ambitious scientists go back to find these sirens.
A good build up leading to a lot of bloody action but the ending fell flat with unanswered questions. These creatures are what nightmares are made of, they are many and they are vicious

sarahbarnes This is something out of my worst nightmare. 4w
ShelleyBooksie I enjoyed the storyline about the dolphins 4w
MsRadioSilence Whenever someone asks for my favorite book, it‘s this one, hands down. I wish it‘d been popular enough for a sequel! 4w
Reggie There is a prequel novella which talks about the ship where the found footage comes from. It‘s pretty good. 4w

I've discovered these fun murder mystery jigsaw puzzles. You read a short story, similar to a cozy mystery then put puzzle together for clues to solve the murder. The puzzle is not what's on the box so you're putting it together blind. I've pixeled out the puzzle underneath so no hints lol

The Villa: A Novel | Rachel Hawkins
post image
Pickpick

A dual timeline thriller.

2 writers, Emily and her best friend, chess rent a villa in Italy, the same villa that a musician was murdered in back 1974. Emily starts digging for clues as to what had really happened all those years while also finding herself not trusting chess.

Rachel Hawkins does a great job nailing the hippie scene with plenty of sex, drugs and rock n' roll of the 70's while throwing in small twists in present day

willaful Not usually that fond of pumpkin pie, but my husband's is so good I enjoy it. (Not stodgy like pie from a can.) Pecan is usually too sticky sweet for me, but last year he made this amazing, melt-in-your-mouth pecan torte. I would choose it again, but he is very traditional about Thanksgiving so pumpkin it is. Maybe he'll make the torte for my birthday. 😁 4mo
