🧡💛🧡💛 Where has this book been. Loved it!!! I‘ve read South of Broad by had a recent trip to Charleston, SC and thought let me pick this up so glad I did. Excellent 🍁🍂
This was an impulse read because I spent some time in Beaufort, SC last week. I‘m really glad I read this sweeping, epic story of the Wingo family. It was a bit too drawn out in some places, but overall an excellent read. I might have to read it again now that I know what happens in the end.
Went on a tour of Beaufort today, and I‘m pretty sure this was Pat Conroy‘s house.
A sweeping epic about one horribly damaged family and a love letter to the American south without ignoring the ugly parts. Holy crap was this engrossing. I was very into it. It was overwritten, overwrought, so dramatic, but it worked for me, I was so sucked in I actually didn't want it to end.
It's been waiting on my shelf for two years, but thanks to #bookspin I finally took the dive! @TheAromaofBooks
💥I‘m not very creative. It‘s my first name and last initial.
💥Sunny November days!
Tagging you my newest Litsy friend @KBlackScan , play along. #ThankfulThirsday
Tom‘s stories of the childhood he shared with his siblings are simultaneously fascinating and horrible, and it is interesting to follow along as he unravels how they each ended yo where they are today. But I felt like his reflections were often filled with superfluous metaphors and descriptions that resulted in whole paragraphs I could skip without missing much of the story.
My two read #prince books.

ok folks...i have two days in the car coming up and haven‘t done my annual “read something that my mom read when i was a kid” challenge. which one?
(Day 30: Favorite color) I love sunrises and sunsets; I love autumn leaves; I love orange. Red is right up there, too. And boy do I love Conroy‘s THE PRINCE OF TIDES. #ColormePretty @Sweetkokoro
I have never seen this movie so I went into this book completely blind, and I‘m glad that I did. The story of Tom Wingo and his family‘s complicated history in the low country of South Carolina is one I won‘t soon forget. Conroy certainly had a way with words and I will definitely pick up some of his other works.
Headed into Beaufort, SC. Pat Conroy lived in and wrote about this area in very moving ways; so I‘ve tagged The Prince of Tides, my favorite of his books. Listened to Death of a Perfect Wife. My phone claims I‘ve walked 1.3 miles today; I feel like all I‘ve done is ride in a car. Nevertheless, I‘m going to go with it for #bookfitnesschallenge #goteam #bfcr2

Book sale fundraiser for our local hospital 🏥 love this book, have read and listened (superb narration) The story will never get old. Love, passion, death, grief, messed up family and what it means to overcome trauma with your humanity intact. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“You get a little moody sometimes, but I think that‘s because you like to read. People that like to read are always a little fucked up.”
Thank you @kaye - I‘ve wanted to read this for a long time! If it‘s one of your faves, it‘s bound to be great! ❤️

#WinterWonderland #runningonthinicewithtigers There‘s a couple of escaped convicts who get what they deserve after they do what they did. Just FYI, for those of you haven‘t read this, they get killed by a tiger a crazy father keeps at a gas station as means of attracting business. I‘ve only read this and Beach Music by Pat Conroy. Maybe I‘ll take a look at one of his others.
We were going to go to the Minnesota State Fair this afternoon, but parking is atrocious so instead I‘m going to sit on my patio and read #6 for the #makemereadit challenge. I have 2 days to read it and it‘s only 677 pages! 🤣
The weather here today is absolutely beautiful! 💗
Wonderful and heartbreaking. Pat Conroy had the prose of a genius.
So far i am loving it
What a read !! Can see why there is so much Litsy love for this book. Family dramas, secrets, deaths, madness, love, lives and lies. It‘s all there against a Southern back drop with a dash of New York.
Great stuff.
Late work night last night. Early work train travels! Couple of hours to read.
Have a full day of learning about the New Regulatory Framework in English Higher Education......the plus point bring its in the British Library. I know where l‘ll be in the networking lunch.....the shop 😁
Yay 😁 a lunchtime read! Hopefully the sign of a better week.
We just think too much!
Another #blameitonlitsy read - specifically @DeborahSmall !
Found this jewel at our local library sale....can‘t start it until I finish some others. #readeveryday
For the #jasuary16 giveaway you @Jas16 my favourite literary siblings are from one of my all time favourite books. Twins Tom and Savannah Wingo and older brother Luke, share a terrible violent childhood at the hands of their brutal father. Their mother is a manipulative bitch and not much help. As adults, Tom gets on with life disguising his feelings with humour, Savannah meanwhile becomes a poet. She suffers a breakdown (one of many) 👇🏼
Reading outside my favorite genre again. I occasionally read poetry but I like to read slow and enjoy it. Since I'm short on time lately figured I'd read a book written like poetry.
Treat yourself to a wonderful book.
This would my most read book. I first read it when I was 17, it was the first book that made me ugly-cry then laugh 10 minutes later. I still bawl my eyes out when I re read this and it always #feelslikethefirsttime every time. Thank you @Jas16 for the wonderful #giveaway ❤️
#AugustGrrrl #FamilyAffair my favourite and most reread family saga. All the feels. Pat Conroy was a master ❤️📚
Today was a good day for #bookmail. Especially excited to be reunited with one of my all-time faves, The Prince Of Tides - after waiting a year for a friend to return my copy, I had to just relent and buy a new one
Making some more progress in this book on a lazy Saturday while listening to a thunderstorm roll through. There's something about a thunderstorm that makes it a perfect atmosphere for this book. ⛈
Also, I have giant pile of floof. 🐭🐻🐹

Finally starting my first Conroy novel this afternoon. I've been really looking forward to this! 🌿
I thought I would absolutely love it, but I am pretty disappointed. And he chose the wrong woman.
I thought it was about time to read Conroy since I've lived my entire life in the Georgia-lina area and heard mythical tales about the author. This book did not disappoint. An epic tale of family, loyalty, and tragedy written like a love poem to the South. My only issue with the book was the dialogue between characters, which I didn't find to be genuine nor did it flow well in my opinion.
I am so excited to finally read this! This cover kind of creeps me out, but it's a great read so far.
I started this book last night and was immediately drawn in...
...Except in the present. The dialogue in the present really bothers me. But the way Tom recalls the stories of his childhood is delicious!
Perfect read as we vacationed in South Carolina and Florida. The bonds of family, the brutality and complexity of domestic violence, the struggle with mental illness. A gorgeous saga of place and family. #banned #bookriot banned from my city. http://www.patconroy.com/articles_cg-10-07.php (letter from conroy to our local paper re banning). #mmd #morethan600pagss
Perfect vacation reading. Screened in patio with a slight breeze, a pretty view, and a page-turner. #vacationreads #southernreads
Will be reading "the prince of tides," as I head to Charleston, SC next week. I always like to read a book set where I am going. Also headed to Florida - any favorite Florida novels? I've read a bunch of Hiaasen. Was considering swamplandia. Thoughts? #travelreads #vacationreads
Found this today from the book swap spot. I've seen the movie and now I get the chance to read it as well.
#feistyfeb #mostread apart from the Harry Potter series this is my most read book. This copy is my collectors first edition, I usually re read my paperback. It's been a few years, due another read this year 😍📚
