Reading 8 ARCs was a good idea and encouraged me to actually read more. I'm going to try that again in June.

That "clock exercise" is not difficult, but I keep overthinking it.

April wrap-up and May Goals

Had a cold in early April. Cannot recommend 0/10. I did some yoga, but not as much as I had planned.
Managed to read 12 ARCs. Very happy about it.

May

I hope to read 8 ARCs, and I want to be able to do the "clock" exercise (pelvis/lower back rotation) without having to think about the steps. Plus, getting better at some of the other ex. my new PT gave me.

March:

Did my back in around mid-month, hence not much yoga. I'm hoping to do more yoga now that my back is better.

Re-read Hitchhiker's Guide last night.

April:

Need to flatten the curve of #MountARC, I'm hoping to read at least 3 ARCs per week. That should be doable.

Also, more yoga, more walks, more fresh air.

I've kept a tab on how much water I drink. It was obviously necessary to log it again, and I've been feeling better since. Regular reminders, a water bottle or glass of water close by.

March update

I was doing very well with daily yoga until yesterday - hurt my back, when I stuck a water bottle into my kid's rucksack. So, spent time on the mat yesterday, but it definitely wasn't quality time.

#BFC2022 @wanderinglynn February update and March goals

February was a slow month. I started "The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock" from the physical TBR, but still haven't finished it.
I didn't follow YWA as much as I had planned, but I spent time on the yoga mat nearly every day.

My plan for March, due to a certain nerdy birthday creeping up at me, re-read The Hitchhiker's Guide, the illustrated edition. ?
Yoga and going for more walks.

catsuit_mango Any reason is a good reason to re-read the Hitchhiker's guide... And especially that birthday year ;) 3y

When things get hectic, overwhelming or I feel stressed, I take a deliberate break. Do 15min of yoga, prepare a nice cup tea, go for a walk,...

And, extremely important for me: sticking to my overly detailed diary. I tend to procrastinate. This way I have set times for when I tackle the important paperwork or the dirty chores or the boring stuff, and don't get overwhelmed or stressed.

I love my body for carrying me through life, for being strong enough to let me get away unscathed with 2/3 of the genius ideas I have, and for showing me my limits, yet letting me push past those bit by bit.

I love the scars on my skin, each has at least one story to tell. Most of those stories are about the above mentioned genius ideas.

Drink lots of water
Sleep more than 7 hours
Get some Me-Time
Read all the books

My #PennyPerPage went well, too. I spent a lot, but also read a lot. In the end, my balance said - 12pp. That's a definite win.

Survive the month? School's back to in person, full class classes, and lots of exams - Kid#1 has one every other day, Kid#2 one per week plus "instead of an exam papers" - - - Purgatory for me; kids don't want to study, are happy with sub-par results. ???

Drink 2 litres of water minimum
Me-time (s.a.)
Sleep 7+ hours
Read all the books ?

May went quite well, I think.

TrishB School stuff is so hard at the moment 😞 my daughter starts her online uni exams today at 9am. 48 hour exams each week for the next month. They are supposed to work 8 hours out of each 48 🤷‍♀️ 3y

Buechersuechtling (1/2) Let me guess: The way you present this, your kids are too young to just let them be, aren‘t they❓ I ain‘t got none, myself, but my attitude is: “If they‘re older than 15 and still don‘t understood that they learn for _their_ life and not for school, then just leave them. 🤷🏽‍♀️ It‘s their professional perspectives, not mine.” – Is it an option to tell this to them together with: “Don‘t come crying on my shoulder in 10 years.”❓ 3y
Buechersuechtling (2/2) I‘m suggesting this because I perfectly see how much it can bug you as a parent to go over and over and over the same issues again. Always hearing the same “arguments” but never get anywhere instead of trouble brewing. 3y

Wanted to read 8 books. Crushed that goal. It's been 25 books.

Noticed that I can do either yoga or bodyweight training, not both. But I'll keep trying to get both in.

But now, that my eyes caught it again, would you please explain to me what that “Penny-per-Page”-thing it‘s all about❓ I already tried to figure it out in the beginning of January when I first saw, but I was unable to make head nor tail of it. julesG @rockpools It'll be 26 in about an hour. 😁 Homeschooling/distance learning + access to my friends' library accounts for audiobooks = an amazing start to my reading year. 4y
julesG @Buechersuechtling Thanks! Every page I've read (audiobooks count too, I just look up how many pages the physical copy would have) is counted on the plus side as a penny - or rather a cent. Every cent I spend, is a 'minus' page. So, I've spend €49.51 in January = 4.951 pages on the minus side. And I'll have about 6.000 pages on the plus side by the end of the day. 4y
julesG @Buechersuechtling I can, of course, only spend what I've earned. So I'm glad my book delivery arrived late this month. Otherwise I'd have been 'in the reds'. 😁 4y

So I may carry forward about 1.000 pages, correct❓– Not sure, if I will adopt the system because usually I‘m no big book buyer. But maybe it helps me to not let things slide, now that it turned out that I needed to order quite some things online this past month – which led to various books also storming my shopping cart. 😂 4y

🛏️ Not always 7 hours of sleep, but nearly every day.

#GhostCat decided to help me do my daily yoga routine. Or this is simply the only room where she can escape the homeschooling tantrums of my 10y/o. (My daughter threw the door in my face when I tried to explain long division to her. She knows how to do it. ?? She's in a "can't do this" mood, which actually means "I'd rather play Mahjongg on the laptop than pay attention to the teacher on zoom")

The_Penniless_Author I also have a 10-year-old daughter and have also tried to explain things to her, so believe me, I sympathize! 🤣 4y
Buechersuechtling I don‘t want to interfere in your education, especially because I got no right to do so and because I got no kids. But from my own experience as a kid having had massive problems in maths, I can tell that there is absolutely no use when reference persons or relatives try to explain something. Back then, we had huge family rows because it simply didn‘t work. It only improved as soon as I had an external private tutor. 4y
Buechersuechtling I know, I can‘t talk. I know best especially at the moment there‘s might be no option. I just wanted to reassure you but it‘s not you, it‘s your role and that such things are quite normal. 4y

Week 1 went not so well.

I finished 4 books and I know that 8 books is a goal I can easily meet.

Next week might turn out better for the other goals. 😁

MommyWantsToReadHerBook That is a lot of water early in the day! I'm curious about the reasoning. Sounds like you're doing awesome 🌸 4y
julesG @MommyWantsToReadHerBook it was suggested by my physiotherapist to drink 3 litres of water a day and that I should try to get the first two litres in before noon. This might help with the cramps in my muscles. Also, the body loses a lot of water while sleeping and needs replenishing in the morning. 4y
julesG @MommyWantsToReadHerBook It's actually working, but it's tough. Most days I manage 1.5 litres, which I should count as a win. 4y

My goals for January:
📚 8 seems reasonable
💦🕛 2 litres of water before noon (probably the hardest part)
💪 Continue body weight training - end the month w/ 24+ repeats
💤 More sleep - 7+ hours
🧠 More me-time

40k steps, but I managed to get nearly 7 hours of sleep each day. A few cardio exercises, a bit of yoga.
Means this week was a not a huge win, but I'm proud of myself for making sleep a priority. 😁

Didn't manage 50k steps, will probably end at around 42k. It's okay. As you can see, especially the last three days we're quite good.

Did yoga nearly every day. 🎉

Read/listened to 5 books this week.

Pic from our 3 hour outing this morning. A friend took pictures of us in the forest. We climbed a lookout tower for a view of our town. And, the friend also took pictures of us with books. 😁

jb72 I‘m doing okay. It seems I‘ve been out of energy these past few weeks so I haven‘t done much except care for my pets. Scout is making good progress from his injury. 5y

CocoReads Doing ok here. Not been many workouts—work wears me out and although my eye seems to be recovering nicely from my surgery not being able to see the same out of the other one throws me off. So I haven‘t been doing much when I‘m not working 5y
julesG @CocoReads Another thing I can relate to. Had an inflammation of the optical nerve and that caused blindness in the eye for two days, until the steroids kicked in, 5y

julesG @CocoReads Yes, no worries. It happened twice, 15 and 14 years ago, my optical nerve fully recovered from both incidents - Thank Goodness! 5y
CaroPi Ohh I will post soon but short summary. I lost my company phone on Saturday (got it back on Monday) and these days I got my period and the mornings are really hard for me. Also I am distracted planning my summer vacations that will start on Saturday (I prefer to go in low season better still nice and not so expensive) 5y

Another week has flown by. I had a good week. Lots of steps. A bit of yoga every day. Went swimming.

Self-care Monday: Got my hair cut even shorter. BFC is showing signs, or better, collarbones and cheek bones. The hair dresser said, shorter would look good on me, so I braved it. I love it!

#BFCR3 check in time!

I finished a book, started a new audio book, and read 2 graphic novels. I'm doing ok on my quest to give up soda. The Ohio Renaissance Festival started this weekend, snd @cobwebmoth and I are working out there again. So we'll be getting plenty of exercise on the weekends through October.

Okay week. I thought it was slow, but it wasn't.

Went swimming on Friday and Saturday - got stung by a wasp yesterday that cut the visit to the swimming pool short. Did a bit of yoga. Read books, but I guess I started more than I finished.

julesG @Moony Yep. At the swimming pool. Was handing something to my daughter and chasing away a wasp near her thigh, took my arm back and got stung in the armpit. Must have been an old wasp, stinger and behind got stuck. I could pull it out. Might have not got a lot of poison into my skin. Anyway, quick thinking saved the day. Asked a smoker for his lighter, made my house key hot (well, overly warm, wasp poison is protein that denaturates at 50°C) and👇 5y
julesG Pressed it onto the sting. Burnt like hell but probably did the trick. Only mild swelling and a bit of red skin this morning. No allergic reaction, but it might have been my first wasp sting ever. 5y

Definitely managed my steps - 20 visits to the DIY store helped a lot.
No exercise - I'm thinking carrying tiles, buckets of dirt,... - count
No yoga - I'm feeling it, my back hurts.
Lots of floors.
Books? Not sure whether I really finished one.

Bathroom remodeling not finished. Unfortunately.

I was able to start another audio book, start my #LMPBC book, and read 3 graphic novels.
I've been standing instead of sitting at work a lot more, and generally getting more mobile. I took my kids to Kings Island and walked for what felt like 50 miles. 😉

Week 1 was awesome, if I may so so myself.

There were two 30min workouts and lots of smaller workouts throughout the week (arm circles while waiting for the kettle to boil, half squats,...)

I'm exceptionally proud of myself, and exhausted.

The day isn't over yet, but this week was very active.

Overall, I can say I read a lot more than 45 books. My guesstimation is 60 - there were cookbooks and picture books among them.

I'm more flexible than I was 6 weeks ago. My shoulders are less stiff and less pain in my shoulders is a huge win for me.

What a busy week! We had a short trip to Niagara Falls, went to an amusement park, and are working at a festival this weekend. All involved lots of walking in the heat. Between the Niagara trip, and Kings Island I think we did over twelve miles.
I did manage to read a couple graphic novels, and I got a good start on my #LMPBC book.

How are you doing? Did you have a good start to week 5 of #BFCR2? What are your plans for the week? Any goal changes?

julesG I'm trying to do more exercise (cardio and strength would be ideal), but with that constant sinusitis it's very hard. I'm a little 🚂 - huffing and puffing. Well, I could be a 🐲 or a 🐺, too - for all the huffing... I've adjusted my book goal to 45 books. Surpassed 30 books already. I'm sticking to the 4 times exercise, but I will not fret about not making 50k steps. It's tough going, the heat has returned, my nose is clogged,... 5y
Megabooks I‘m sorry! I hope things improve soon! I did just went over all the reasons a horse could sound like a person with sinusitis in my head. You really brought out my inner 3rd year vet student!! 5y

It was miserably hot this week, so I didn't get to take my walks this week, but @cobwebmoth and I went to a concert Friday evening. Almost 6 hours on our feet in the heat. It was great! Hawthorne Heights still puts on a great show.

After a week of the whole family fighting off a nasty summer cold, I managed very little physical activity. Until Friday night, that is. We helped in this food truck at a local festival. So much running around! Hopefully this next week is better.

It was a busy week, but I managed a walk every day. Plus I only had soda twice this week. I'll eventually give it up for good. I'm halfway through The Dream Thieves on audio, and I'm loving it so far! I managed to read a couple graphic novels as well.

TheDaysGoBy @TK421 @wanderinglynn Coffee doesn‘t always agree with my stomach lately so I really cut it back. And when I do drink it now it‘s usually decaf 😂 I do miss it (hence drinking decaf) but my body doesn‘t seem to handle it as well as it used to 5y

The rain has finally stopped for a few days! I was able to take a walk on my lunch break, I got in another walk this evening at the cemetery with @cobwebmoth , and I dropped the car off to get worked on in town and walked home. It has been a beautiful day for walking and listening to The Dream Thieves on audio! #BFC #BookFitnessChallenge
