Long ago I started & then set aside this book, daunted by the length. What reading pleasure I postponed! Eliot has such rich characterizations, such thoughtful asides that I‘ve been re-examining my conscience & sympathies as I read. I loved this book. It stirred me to have many thoughtful conversations about it. Now I know why Eliot is considered on of the all-time greats in English literature. This book is well worth your time. It‘s marvelous.
Today‘s author spotlight: George Eliot! George Eliot was the pen name of Mary Ann Evans, circumventing the stereotype of women writing only light romances. Born in England in 1819, she died at 61 in London. She is considered one of Victorian Literature‘s titans. She wrote 7 novels, known for their realism; some consider Middlemarch the English language‘s greatest novel! She‘s buried at London‘s Highgate Cemetery. #AuthorPotpourri #TheMoreYouKnow
I read this book in my high school honors English class and remember falling in love with it. Even now, years later, it is one of my favorite classics! 📚💕

Happy holiday weekend to all who have one!
Book #71: I rather enjoyed Middlemarch. It started off slow, but as the book went on it picked up its pace rather well. Although the book was the longest I have yet read on this list, about 900 pages, the plot was simple enough that it was easy to follow throughout the entire book. Middlemarch is a town in England where the book follows the lives...
“‘My dear Mrs Casaubon,‘ said Farebrother, smiling gently at her ardour, ‘character is not cut in marble - it is not something solid and unalterable. It is something living and changing, and may become diseased as our bodies do.‘
‘Then it may be rescued and healed,‘ said Dorothea.
-George Eliot, Middlemarch

Update on #BookFitnessChallenge: Finished the Princess Diarist (audio) this weekend. Started the audio version of Middlemarch yesterday. I have been 100% so far with my supplements. I have walked twice so far, I have two more days to add to the total. Hope all participants are doing well!!
I did it! I got through the entire book! I think this was my third try and I resorted to listening to the audiobook on 1.25 speed... Yeah, it was a lot of drama and pearl clutching, so if you like that sort of weepy distress then this is the book for you! 😁 Now if I could just get through Swann's Way!
Over 35 hours. 🙀 Well that should get me through my Spring Cleaning and Gardening.#bigspringread

We are finally back from holiday and regular posting habits can recommence. (I know it‘s a mobile app, but I just don‘t get around to it. I need my space. 🤷🏻♀️)
So, Christmas #BookHaul part 1/3. These are mine. Very happy to get beautiful cloth bound editions of two of my favourite books. 😍 Also happy to receive two award winning books by Norwegian authors. I haven‘t been able to keep up with Norwegian lit at all since I moved to the UK.
Read much more than I thought I would this year!
Happy New Year everyone! 🎊🎆🎉
