At a stopping point because I ran out of small boxes. Already filled 6 boxes and three crates 😬

And so commences the packing of my books. Bittersweet as my books will be packed away for a while, but excited to start moving into our first home. Planning on trashing these cheap Target shelves and investing in some nicer ones once we‘ve moved in and have a better idea of what space I can fill with shelves in our new place.
The packing has begun. Top priority to pack first are my books of course! 😂 And I‘m quite overwhelmed, staring at the number of unread books😬. I‘ll probably donate some of them, books that I no longer have interest to read now.
With all the stress of moving house, I‘m hardly in the right state of mind to read. But I‘ll try to finish up a couple of books I‘ve started. Happy Sunday!
Sheila- the delivery lady at our new house - leaves Woodford a biscuit with every parcel! Woodford would now like me to sign up to more swaps!
Have I missed any good ones that are still open to sign ups? #litsyhappenings
Good job I had some extra in the bag as my June stats ere terrible - 3 books! July might be even worse - house moving wrecks your reading time!
A huge sorry to all my lovely Litsy pals - I‘ve been missing here for the past month or so. We made a big decision and moved house - from city to countryside- and if course a few stresses along the way! This is my new postbox - can‘t wait to get back in touch with you all. Thanks for bearing with me! #litsylove
Furniture, housewares & last of my bookies arrived in the Sea Shipment from Korea. Book buying addiction, who has a book buying addiction? #booklover #study #moving #nevertoomany
What the actual bleep is going on here? Where did the books go? -Dolly Cat #movingday #catsoflitsy
Ready or not, it‘s repatriation time! Books by air & sea must go.., #decisions #airshipment #bookwormproblems
If a pandemic wasn‘t stressful enough, we‘ve decided to add a house move into the mix. Just sold our house today and, all going well, will be moving in 9wks! I‘m now suddenly aware of all the unread books that will need to be packed. I would love to focus on reading my own books for the next 9 wks and am going to aim for 10. Completely possible that‘s unrealistic because I‘m sure the next 2 months are going to be a little busy. Let‘s see how I do!
18 months since they were last packed away and my books are going back into boxes as I prepare to move in with my boyfriend. I hate moving but it's worth it.
Why I haven‘t been posting much lately: my life is now all about packing, packing and packing because I‘m moving to a new house.
I think I‘ve sent my new address to everyone who needs it. Please let me know if I‘ve forgotten anyone.
So... Anyone have any tips for moving A LOT of books?
Don‘t have a December TBR because our stuff is still in transit so here is the view from my mum‘s balcony.
I am hoping to finish of some challenges and my current reads this month.
What a day of mixed emotions. While we‘re upstairs packing to move to the downstairs flat, our neighbors and dear friends are moving out of the downstairs flat and on to their next adventure. We‘re so excited and so sad at the same time. (They are big readers so I already know all the best spots to curl up with a book!)
The first three things you need to do when you move to a new city/state: 1) supermarkets 2) doctors/health care 3) library card. Check, check and check. :)
This is completely accurate. Today I packed up 3 totes of books. That didn‘t even empty 1 of our of books. We have 5 bookshelves stuffed full (some are double layered) and some random books floating around in other places (like on end tables). It will be interesting to see how many boxes and totes it takes to move them all!! 📚📚📚📚📚
So many books! 😍😭 moving them is a huge pain. This isn‘t even all of them. I‘m pretty sure there are at least 6 more big boxes lost in the rest of the household boxes in the garage. So glad it‘s done though! (My back is done as well as the boyfriend‘s rotator cuff.) Now I finally get to shelve them the way I want to! I‘m thinking alphabetically by authors last name, since that‘s generally how I search for books.
We bought a house! The apartment is all in disarray, and this stack of boxes is just our book collection alone 😭
I am finally (just about) done moving! Here‘s one of my new reading spots.. when I unpack the books 😔❤️👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
I can't resist, here's my other bookcase. (The flowers lying on the second shelf were my wedding bouquet -- daffodils, because I'm Welsh, made out of paper and wire by my wife! The wooden hippo is called Moni and was carved specifically for me, my parents say. I don't ever remember not having him.)
All my books are where they ought to be. 💙
Now for everything else.
First books on the shelves at the new flat! Not organised, I hasten to add -- just out of boxes, so we can start to be able to move around! The bookcases need doors because of certain rabbits... their favourite nesting place is the bottom shelf of an Ikea Billy bookcase. #BunniesofLitsy
All my living room books are packed up. Can't wait to put them on the shelves in the new house.
Today is moving day- from one temporary place to another temporary place. ☹️😬🙄 The hubby offered to “store” my books in his office...no. I NEED those with me. #comfort #thanksbutnothanks #donttouchmybooks #backawayslowly
House staging progress! Books are done (obviously 1st priority...) 19 boxes of books packed and stored. 2 bags taken to the used bookstore. Got store credit in exchange and I have to keep reminding myself that my shelves aren't *actually* this empty. I know what my reward will be once we're moved and set up though 🙃 #moving
... And then there are the other two obstacles between me and my boxes getting unpacked. 😑
#catsoflitsy
Figuring out how to sort these 25 boxes of books, and unpack them in order on the shelf directly behind them, all within the confines of my tiny room, feels like one of those logic puzzles with the moving tiles. Fortunately I excel at logic puzzles. #catsoflitsy
I don't think I've ever posted all my shelves in one #shelfie before... but we are getting ready to list our house in a couple weeks and I have my marching orders for staging the house. One tall case and one short case will go to storage, and the other shelves will be pruned/rearranged. This is the "before" state. Stay tuned... ? #moving #somanyboxesofbooks
Poor Hilly. Where is all the furniture? This makes me so sad, but this is her territory.
I can‘t wait to move. I haven‘t read anything in weeks. I miss my books like she misses her furniture (and it was HER furniture).
1. Including college moves, 15 (only 3 college moves)
2. Approximately 250 miles (that I remember, we moved from Texas to Michigan when I was 2 yrs old)
3. 25 on the low end. There were 11 in 2013, and 14 or 15 in 2015 but then Litsy happened.
4. Moving again as soon as we can afford a forever home.
5. Never used them, but I would if I could.

🏠 3 times
🏠 8316 miles - from Kuala Lumpur, 🇲🇾 to Calgary, 🇨🇦
🏠 My most recent move - 2 huge boxes and at least 10 Walmart reusable bags
🏠 Not at this moment. Just moved to my current place 2 months ago and planning to stay here for a long long time 😁
🏠 Nay! But yay for friends! 😂
Thank you @JoScho for the fun #packingdistraction! 👍💕
1) 4, (more if you count every time I packed up for college, but I went back to the same place).
2) 42 miles
3) I had 3 large Sterilite containers of books when we moved here in 2014, and I‘ve gotten more. (I donated 10 containers. No joke. I didn‘t have room. 😔)
4) Forever. When we finally bought our house, my husband said “You better love it because we‘re never moving again.” 😂
5) I‘ve always done it myself.
@JoScho
1. After 15 I quit counting, and I only counted states not times we moved in states.
2. Don‘t know. Let‘s see, maybe WA to OR, OR to WA, WA to MI, MI to OR, OR to WA, WA to OR, OR to AL, AL to MI, MI to OR, OR to WA, WA to AZ,AZ to WA, WA to AZ, AZ to MA, MA to WA, WA to CA.
3. 15
4. Yes, planing on moving I don‘t like CA
5. Meh
1. I think about 7 times.
2. 15 miles.
3. Approximately 60 boxes are mine. My husband has an equal amount of books.
4. While I don't plan on moving again I wouldn't be surprised if we did.
5. Definitely movers! I can pack up the stuff but I'm done with carrying it myself. I'm no spring chicken! 😂
#PackingDistraction @JoScho
1. If you count all the times I moved between college and back home, then I think 12?! That‘s a lot!
2. About 2 hours drive
3. Haha how big are the boxes?? Probably like 40....my fiancé and I both love to read and we have SO. MANY. BOOKS.
4. Moving again as soon as we find our forever home ? We are looking!
5. Family and friend movers yes, hiring movers no @JoScho
I have moved too many times to count in my 31 years. Farthest move for me in about an hour from my hometown. I just moved and I didn‘t count the boxes but it took me 2 weeks to move my books and I still have 4 boxes packed, I need to reorganize my shelves. I hope I don‘t have to move again. And I‘ve never been able to afford movers. 😔
1. I moved a few times as a kid. Moved 6 times and moving 1 more time next month.
2. Not very far.. 30-45 minutes... (I live in the smallest state)
3. I‘ve already packed 2 boxes, 2 suitcases and probably will have 4 or 5 more boxes 😬
4. We are moving (hopefully to our forever home) next month.
5. I would say yay, but my husband says nay..
1. 10
2. Boston to Hollywood
3. I always pack 2 boxes of books and donate all the rest to the local library
4. I don‘t believe in the idea of a “forever home.” I own my townhouse& have no plans to move but IME life throws a lot of curveballs and it‘s easier if you can adapt to change when it comes bc it will.
5. If I can afford them, yes. Definitely.
@JoScho
1. 7
2. 250 miles (North Yorkshire to St Andrews University)
3. About 8?
4. I rent so there's always the possibility that I'll move again
5. I've never used movers but I definitely will if and when I move again!
#packingdistraction @JoScho
1. On my 5th move.
2. I am moving from NJ to CO.
3. 15?
4. Oh, I will move again in a couple of years but a few towns over from where I will be...most likely. After that...assisted living. 😳
5. Yes movers
@JoScho
I have been quiet on Litsy because I was busy preparing for the move. I am in the new place already and my boyfriend is moving in tomorrow. 9.5 of my boxes are filled with books and boardgames 😂
Speaking about boardgames, my friend @Niallism who is a fellow book & boardgame lover joined Litsy! Welcome! #litsywelcomewagon
