Book Scavenger Hunt: Orange ✔️

Soft pick, but I would've loved this a couple of years ago during my zombie phase. I still can't believe that this is a zombie book. But it totally is and it's well done. I felt emotional more than expected, and loved seeing Melanie grow. Carey talks about some existential questions in this book, and we might be closer to experience something similar than we want to admit. What will become of us humans? Where are we going from here?
I enjoyed this book, which I didn‘t know was a zombie book. It definitely had some I Am Legend vibes but for a new generation.
Melanie and some not so great adults try to make it to Beacon, a city of humans where Melanie might not be welcome but where she might save countless lives.
3/5 I really liked this book until the end - which I I thought was a good ending to the story but was not well explained nor well described.
This has been on my shelf forever! Anyone read it??

Sorry this is cutting it so close to the deadline 😬The tagged book was my favourite read during the #Scarathlon.
@Catsandbooks thank you so much for hosting! I had such a great time! And a virtual high fives to all my teammates on the #BatBrigade 🦇🍁🎃
I think this was my favourite read of #scarathlon so far. I didn't know much about it going in, and I think that's the best way to read this.

I‘m not a zombie fan, but I do have this on my #scarathlon TBR. Has anyone read this and what did you think? #scarathlonphotochallenge #zombie #blackcatcrew
#ScarathlonPhotoChallenge #Day18 #Zombie I‘m not a zombie fan at all, I think I‘ve read 2 zombie books in the past 15yrs? I‘ve never watched The Walking Dead either & while this was written well it still wasn‘t for me. #Scarathlon #SpookyGhostClub 6pts
Holy Moly! As a teacher and a lover of humanity; a fan of a great imagination and story, this book brought it all to me in a heartfelt story of survival in a zombie apocalypse. This is NOT your normal zombie book. It's fascinatingly horrible and heartwarming all at once, this is a unique book. I could not put it down.
Nothing says #StayinAlive quite like zombie 🧟♂️ apocalypse books 🤪

This is a grim and fascinating story. It was an interesting puzzle to slowly figure out what‘s happening and I‘m impressed with how the author wrote the book like an onion, revealing layer by layer.
#ScarathlonDailyPrompts #Day25 #Zombie I‘m not a huge fan of zombies, either onscreen or in fiction. I think this was the last zombie story I read, and that was more than 5yrs ago. It begins with a girl, kept in a cell & chained at all times & ends with the end of the world. I like the authors storytelling, I just don‘t like zombies!🧟♀️ #Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter 6pts
I don't know if the book makes me sad or I am just having a sad day. I enjoyed the book but the ending was a lot. #Scarathlon2022 #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick
This was supposed to be my post about the week 3 #Scarathlon2022 word game, but I was so excited when my daughter asked to watch Scream with me (she hated scary movies). I loved every second of watching this with her!! #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick

This is over the top amazing and I don't deserve it. Thank you so much.
My 2nd grade girls who are into the bookmarks stash enjoyed helping me open it.
I almost never reread a book unless it was required for a college class, but the few that impacted me enough to reread on my own are
The Girl With All the Gifts

Day 141.
Here I will note 365 books (or as many as I will have before I get tired) that have shaped my taste in literature. No explanations, no reviews. Just the cover of the book.
I do not challenge anyone. You are all welcome to take part.
1. Quiet zombie. 2. The Girl with all the gifts. 3. I think it would start quietly, with some kind of benign illness… #sundayfunday @ozma.of.oz
Thanks for the tag @Moonprismpower
1. Vampires are hands down my favourite.
2. I always think people are the worst monsters by far, and the tagged book kinda proves it. Also, The Lesser Dead needs more love.
3. I am sure that all the monsters have been written, but how about some love for succubus or incubus?

Wanna play @DinoMom @ShelleyBooksie ?
This was VERY different from the last book I read, but just as good in its own way. Unlike any zombie story I‘ve ever read or watched… my sister has been telling me to read it for years, and I‘m so glad I finally did!
Today‘s #LittensDressedinBlood prompt:
Jawbreaker-a book with a jaw dropping twist.
I don‘t read a ton of thrillers but this one definitely surprised me.
Melanie is ten years old and lives in a cell. Monday to Friday she is strapped into a wheelchair and is wheeled into class where she learns about Greek mythology, has story time and bonds with her classmates. Saturdays she is confined to her cell all day and Sundays she is strapped into her wheelchair for shower time and is fed grubs. This is Melanie's whole world.
I enjoyed this book so much, it gave me all the feels.
A great entry in the zombie canon - well-paced and perfect ending! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I thought this book was excellent but I don‘t know if I can handle the movie. And now I‘m wondering if I should read the second book...
I LOVED this book. It was so smart and well written, and peppered in Greek mythology stories and allusions *chefs kiss* 💋
I have yet to watch the movie, but I‘m a little afraid it won‘t live up to my expectations.
This is a MUST read for fans of zombies and science, and highly recommended for anyone else who just enjoys a well written story with such varying points of view.
Well, this just makes my night! Thank you @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego for the awesome #AllHallowsReadSwap box! Looking forward to reading this one for sure! And who could say no to a handful of bloody eyeballs, especially while racking up some last minute movie points for #scarathlon... PLUS I had a really spooky déjà vu feeling when I first handled the book ?
Thanks to @MaleficentBookDragon for hosting this fun swap!! Happy Halloween ??
Just finished this for movie/bookclub. The movie pretty much followed the storyline of the book but cut by half the content.
Enjoyed this smart zombie movie featuring an excellent young actress (and Paddy Considine & Glenn Close) last night. The ending made me want to read the book for a fuller explanation, but it‘s a well acted, scary watch. #zombies #scarathalon #TeamHarkness @StayCurious #5points

So, I tried pretty hard with this collage 🤣
My #HalloweenAesthetic is kind of spooky, thriller, creepy vibe but also cosy and filled with Tim Burton characters? :p

This book was a complete surprise to me. I think I picked it up as a daily deal from Audible and didn‘t take the time to review the plot before I dived in. Luckily I‘m a fan of dystopian novels! Can‘t wait to read the sequel.
I watched the movie first, so my experience o with the book may be different than someone who didn‘t. I loved the book as much as the movie. It‘s a zombie tale, but it‘s so much more than a cliche zombie tale. M.R. Carey managed to layer complex thought provoking story into this zombie horror.
What is your go to genre? Or better yet... go to trope?
#bookaddict #reader
I really loved how much depth this story possessed and how unique it was, despite embracing certain tropes we‘ve all seen many times before. It was an unexpectedly touching tale with some hard-hitting, frightening ideas at play. The Girl With All the Gifts will stick with me for a long time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really liked the beginning and end of this book. It started off really strong and had me really intrigued and excited to learn more about the apocalyptic world of the book. But then it became a “road novel” which makes my eyes glaze over a lot of the time. But the end was worth the journey. And it‘s a quick read. This was my #bookspin book. Still need to read the doublespin book and then work through my bingo board!
Melanie is a very special girl. Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don‘t like her. She jokes that she won‘t bite, but they don‘t laugh. Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children‘s cells.
Late night with this one!
Loved it!! Went in blind , had no idea it was a zombie apocalypse . Just one more chapter had to get to the end and what a shocker of an ending , wasn‘t expecting that.
It‘s a yes from me 😁
Listening to this audio book so I can watch the Netflix show (personal rule: always read the book first). Liking it so far!! Creative take on zombies
Melanie thinks: when your dreams come true, your true has moved. You‘ve already stopped being the person who had the dreams, so it feels more like a weird echo of something that already happened to you a long time ago.
