Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance tells the story of Weylyn Grey's life from the perspectives of the people who knew him, loved him, and even a few who thought he was just plain weird. ⬇️
Toke me a long time to finish cause I didn't want it to end. At first I was hesitant towards it, now it's one of my favorite stories! Heartwarming in places I wasn't expecting. It also has one of the states I call home in it and it doesn't get into alot of stories. If you're a reader who likes a lil bit of everything, this has it!
I know I‘m late to the show, but this book! I‘m not even sure what to say about it…it makes me feel the same way that I do when I watch The Neverending Story or read Mrs Frisby & the Rats of NIMH. It‘s something that feels fantastic and modern and yet is cozy and nostalgic, all at the same time. I feel like I will be thinking about this for awhile & likely rereading it again soon.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a slowly meandering story of Weylyn Grey, a boy who lost his parents, lived with wolves and is extraordinary in many ways. Weylyn‘s story is told through the people he encounters throughout his life, using a timeline that moves from present to past and back again. This is a sweet read, with truly lovable characters. I think we could all learn something from Weylyn and his childlike honesty and wonder. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 ❤️📚
This was a gentle novel with the perfect touch of magic. It follows the life of Weylyn Gray through the eyes of those who cross paths with him over the years. Weylyn is a boy who lives with wolves, a man who can stop tornadoes, someone who leaves a glowing mark wherever he goes even if he doesn't stay long.
#2023ReadySetRead debut book @Clwojick
It's a slow Sunday at GalaxyCon, so I've got time to read in my booth. I don't know why I waited so long to read this one. Lang is fairly local to my area and I loved her newer book The Wilderwomen. So far this story is charming. I'm especially enjoying how the book manages to tell the story of Wayland by telling the stories of the people around him.
3✨Weylyn lost his parents at a young age and was raised by wolves. He is extraordinary and that is quickly evident from everyone that meets him. I struggled to get into it at first because it reminded me of Jungle Book so wasn‘t something new in my mind. Then I could understand what was happening with the circumstances that happened to him. Finally, the story warmed my heart like a cozy blanket.
I usually like my fiction pure fantasy or pure realism, but this novel convinced me a mix could win me over. I loved the alternating narrators + timeline jumps to flush out the story—the writing held together perfectly. A few times I was worried if/how it could be brought together but the ending was beautifully done. The characters reveal themselves subtly so we feel like we know them—and most importantly, like them. The nature-based magic was A+
4.75/5 ⭐️ Absolutely fantastic story! If there were less animal death scenes this would have been an automatic 5 star read! So happy this was an #LMPBC pick!
Sorry for the delay on finishing it!

🐺🐺🐺Mini-Review🐺🐺🐺
BookReport: Best of the week are the tagged book and the two non-fiction books. I enjoyed the Ivey on audio. Both it and Beasts have been on my TBR for years so it feels good to move them off the piles. HMD was ok, it really lagged in the middle.
WeeklyForecast: Of my 4 current books I‘m still not sure about The Promise. I felt seen on the first page of Bittersweet so it might be a winner. Today is all about Basket Case.
This was a cute and quick read. I‘m not sure if it actually is, but it had a young adult vibe. That said, I really enjoyed it. And who hasn‘t felt like their emotions would cause at least a metaphorical storm?
I love, love, love this book #Writtenbyalitten 💛💫⭐️🌟 I typically don‘t read books again, but this one will be an exception!!

Thank you @Endowarrior21 for all the goodies! I especially love that you made some of the items for me 🥰 And the glitter!! I especially love the glittery bookmark, “Just a girl who loves chickens” keychain, the ducks, my letter keychain, and a gorgeous book! I need to find places for all these stickers before my girls see them 🤩 Thank you @DinoMom and @ShelleyBooksie for hosting. 😊💛🐣🦆
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ This is a 📖 about appreciating the extraordinary in the ordinary & an ode to the power and beauty of Mother Nature. If you enjoy magical realism and place-based stories, you‘ll likely enjoy this 📖. There is comfort to be found in these 📄 much like sipping on a cup of hot ☕️ while sitting beside a babbling brook on a crisp Spring morning. Full review: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/33574161
A pretty good read. I struggled to get into it but then found the rhythm and enjoyed the way the story was woven together.
I‘m a little late but have my candle lite for #rememberSharon and using my bookmark that she recently sent me in honor to remember her today. Thank you so much for your friendship. May you Rest In Peace my sweet friend.
So here are some options off my TBR. All of them are stand alones except for Breach, which is the first in a series. I have more choices, so if none of these appeal, or if we have already read them all, I can pull another batch 😂 Super excited to be reading with you all!!! @Chrissyreadit @Laughterhp @BookwormAHN #LMPBC #GroupF
#botm Feb choices. I wasn‘t too ecstatic about the choices this month, but I have read good reviews for both of these books.
Structured like Winesburg, Ohio meets a tall tale. Plus it has wolves.

A marvelous story about a boy, Weylyn, raised by wolves who also possess magical powers, and owns a pet pig with a unique horn. This was such a touching tale of an extraordinary boy told through the view of those who loved him. Showcasing Weylyn's life from childhood to adulthood. Hearttouching and magical! *Library Book Box pick*
This was a book club pick. Maybe my standards are too high for fantasy—a genre I normally don‘t read—but I didn‘t particularly enjoy this. I felt it overall lacked focus and the peripatetic narrative detracted from any deep exploration of themes, or characters. I realize I may be in the minority here, but It felt superficial in the same way I experienced The Night Circus.
“My wolf brothers and sisters have a saying (or a howl) that goes, "Don't leave anything you can't come back to." I know I can come back here and I will be welcomed, and that brings me more comfort than anything else in this world.”

LOVE this book! If you haven‘t read it you should!!!
For me the mood to read a a pre-1800 book is hard found. What was I thinking. This story is basically told from 1979 - 2017. It was beautiful. I loved Weylyn Grey and the impact he made on the lives of those he touched. Weird, totally different story, but as I finished this I thought of Olive Kitteridge and her impact on lives in her community.

I VERY rarely read fantasy books. I've just never really gotten into the genre. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book very much. But I did. I absolutely loved it. The coming of age story with the mythical elements. I really enjoyed the characters. Telling Weylyn's story through the perspective of those he engaged with suggested that he didn't know himself well enough to tell his story. If one could write a hug, I think it would feel like this book

Make up for yesterday
@Eggs and @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
Weylyn Grey, is certainly Marvelous, raised by wolves and able to control parts of nature. He stops a tornado on Christmas day.
1. Of course! Basically Harry Potter series, Vampire Diaries series and a few Sarah Dessen books. Basically between 2012-2014 I didn‘t know where to find new books 😂
2. If I‘m strolling through a bookstore, yes
3. I think because he‘s raised by wolves, etc.
Playing on a Friday, so up to you if you still want to answer 🤣
