I‘m not a fan of body horror, so we‘ll see how this goes. At least I‘m not usually squeamish about it.

Oof Frank, you horrible demonic being. That was intense but such a good story. Super fast read, I finished it in one day! Clive Barker sure knows how to write a horror story.
The ultimate in grotesque body horror that inspired Clive Barker‘s Hellraiser movie series. Well written and truly horrifying, a must read for horror fans. 5⭐️

A quick, sometimes beautifully written novella that contains a vast mythology. Barker‘s work is fascinating, and it is now difficult to separate it from the movie franchise it spawned. The movie varies only in a few places from the book, so it was impossible for me not to picture the actors as we read. I want to read more Barker!
Short, thrilling, exciting and filthy. One of my favorite horror stories that started a movie franchise with 9 nonsense sequels with another one coming out just recently. Check out the Mind books podcast ep. 21 where we had a lot of fun discussing this book as well as ALL the movies that I unfortunately watched: https://bit.ly/3BpeXFg
One of my favorite Clive Barker stories & the book that began Hellraiser 🖤

One of my all time favorite horror movies. Watched this late the other night with the boyfriend. I keep meaning to read the novella that the movie is based on, maybe this year. #scarathlon #TeamMonsterMash +11 pts
💁Husband: We should watch the new Hellraiser movie, here, watch this trailer.
💁🏻♀️Me: Sure, want to read the book first?
🙎Husband: That sounds fun!
Us, one week later: 😳😵😵💫
@Blueberry
I reread this in honor of the new Hellraiser movie that came out today. It‘s funny how they say that in Silence of the Lambs, Anthony Hopkins is only in the movie for 15 minutes. But he‘s basically the face of that movie. In this book, there is a Pinhead character but the meat of this story is the human drama of a man bored with the world reaching for more and finding all the horror that comes with that. A woman who craves passion and danger👇🏼
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ This is my favorite horror movie, but the novel fell short for me. My full review can be found on my blog: https://suspensebookreviews.home.blog/2022/03/17/the-hellbound-heart-by-clive-ba...
The first thing I opened was the pack of pens and I literally squealed and ran to find batteries!!! I blinded myself but I'm excited! I have been meaning to order non crappy diamond art pens for so long and I can't wait to try these out. I'm dying to use the bath salts and am digging into the pull n peels (my favourite!) As we speak. Laura Secord makes the best chocolate so I might try that instead of my coffee tomorrow. And the socks....awesome!
The book that the movie Hellraiser is based on. I thought maybe I had seen the movie when I was younger, but there is no way. I would have been too young, and scarred for life. Lol. #Screamathon 😱 @4thhouseontheleft
🎧📚 I listened to the audiobook and it is eerily similar to Hellraiser the movie! I loved it!! It‘s so dated but still so fun to hear it versus reading it! I can‘t find the book! 😭
Frank is a sick sick man and is obsessed with some really dark stuff. He finds a puzzle box (yes that one) and Yeahp HE‘S DEAD!
I still love it!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 👇🏻
If you‘re looking to read some pure horror with unlikeable characters & shockingly graphic visuals, I highly recommend reading the Hellbound Heart by Clive Barker. And absolute gem of a book! 🙌 #clivebarker #thehellboundheart #reread #cenobites #orderofthegash
Well, that was a wild ride.
1.) Soor Plooms ?
2.) Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978 version) it's just very unsettling and absolutely brilliant. ?
3.) "No tears, please. It's a waste of good suffering." ⛓

Settling in to watch Hellraiser 2. I actually like this better than the 1st one, but since the 1st one sets you up for this one, I will always go in order when watching them. Also, how adorns is my Pinhead Funko? #Scarathlon2020 #TeamHarkness +6 pts
Well... that was weirder than I expected... still ruminating on my thoughts here...
First read of Barker's The Hellbound Heart 🖤🎃
Not top horror, but definitely a quick, fun read if ya've got the stomach haha. Interesting to see the whole Hellraiser beginnings
#horrorcovercrush Day 6
Today was HorrorFest here in CT and I had Doug Bradley sign my copy of Hellboud Heart! 🤘🏼I had an amazing time!
This book‘s undercurrent is exactly what draws me to horror. It touches on human flaws in a tragic and horrific ways. Though it isn‘t scary, it made me cringe at its vivid descriptions. The flowing language and precise word choice made each sentence beautiful in its own right, adding to the creepiness. It‘s a bit older, so there were some techniques that he used that I had to get used to, (head-hopping especially) but it worked!
Poor poor choice of breakfast reading, Emma. Poor.
It's actually rather good but it does NOT go well with food. I think this might be the only 'proper' gory horror I've read (outside of SK who isn't that gory really).
When you need to look up a word... 😳😶😶😶
So... um... when that comes up on Jeopardy, I'll know the answer...
Barker may be one of the greatest contemporary writers period from an artistic standpoint. Nobody quite has the flare for words that he possesses. Having read all of his work short of Coldheart Canyon, this book was so influential on concept alone that one can scarcely discount it, whether you like it or not. A great story of gluttony, desire, and the darkness that comes with it.
Boxing Day read. The book which became Hellraiser, opening the gates to the Cenobites entry to the world. Short and easy to read, vivid and gross. The movie was very close to the book.
Lunchtime reading today...
I definitely should have thought better...
What have I gotten myself into?!

This is my first Clive Barker and I loved it. I love the Hellraiser franchise and this was a total treat to read. Does anyone have suggestions on what I should read of his next?
✨QOTD: Do you have a book genre that is comforting for you to read? For me, it‘s horror books! I don‘t read as much horror as I used to, but when I do it‘s very comforting to read a scary book.✨

My October must read! Hearing church bells at night has never quite been the same. #hallowreads
My husband has not read an entire book in over 13 years, so I was so excited the other day when he said he ordered a book and was going to read it. Then he went and did this! 😫 Oh the horror! I might need to get him his own bookmark if he keeps reading!
#17booklove Day 24: Heart in the title. This book didn't quite scare me, but it did unnerve me, and now whenever I hear church bells I get uneasy.
My pick for favorite All Hallows' read. #halloween #litsy #allhallowsread
Found this UK copy at a garage sale a while back, and finally got around to reading it. The Cenobites were so much cooler before all the mystery got wrung out of them, so there's nothing like going back to the source.
The inspiration for Hellraiser. Creepy, violent, disturbing. Fab late night read.
