I keep trying to read different kinds of memoirs, first person non-fiction, etc. but I just can‘t get into it and usually bail.

Pretty sure this book will appeal much more to the introverts of the world. I am one. As a kid and teen, I was even a shintrovert, but the shyness is (mostly) gone as an adult. Obviously, Jessica includes some humour in her story. I think there can‘t help but be humour, though, in some of these situations that she puts herself though. I admire that she was able to do all those things (comedy! Improv!), and she ended up enjoying most of it.
4✨I see the real value in this book because I did something similar. This author did something really brave and went out of her comfort zone to learn not to be so scared to try something new. I got this as a gift one year because they thought the title alone reflected me so well.
Feline for fee forgiveness- A real program in Massachusetts. Thoughts?
Another audiobook that reflects my current mindset and that exceeded my expectations. Jessica, like me, is an introvert looking to shake things up and meet people. Despite being happily married, she's shy and struggled to make friends as an adult. She challenged herself in ways I would never dream up (improv classes) but inspired me none the less. Lots of LoL moments, and relateable awkwardness. Would recommend for fans of Shonda's Year of Yes.
The author is an introvert but wants to see what it‘s like to be an extrovert, so she tries to develop the behaviors of an extrovert…

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I related to a lot of what the author said about what it‘s like being an introvert - especially because I‘m a “shintrovert” (shy introvert) myself. The beginning was especially funny. After telling some of the stories to my husband he asked if she did all of it TO write a book about it. After that, I couldn‘t stop wondering that for the rest of the book. 🤔 I still enjoyed most of the book though. I recommend to anyone curious.
I have listened to this all week & decided it‘s a perfect book for my commute. Witty, light-hearted, & fun, I was able to laugh before & after work. I definitely won‘t ever participate in stand-up comedy or improv but enjoyed hearing about Pan‘s experience. I related so much to her. I‘ve been looking forward all day to introverting tomorrow. Pan is a good narrator. #mistletoemaniacs #wintergames @Clwojick 16pts
As an introvert, I totally felt the title of the book deep within my soul. But I‘m appreciative of the steps the author took to deepen her sense of community. I‘m currently going through a deep cleaning of my community and am literally starting over. Gives me hope!
This card, all about creative possibility, intuition and new ideas, felt on the nose for this book. The author, a self proclaimed introvert, recounts her experiences as she commits to a year of saying “yes”. She pushes her self out of her comfort zone in order to open herself up to new experiences. #tarottakeover
Caveat: I have to do this on my cell phone, because we are without internet after Hurricane Laura came through. I cannot upload a photo of the book, and I cannot see very well using my phone, so this will be short. As in introvert myself, I really couldn‘t relate to the mission of the author. I had read the book “Quiet,” by Susan Cain, and loved it. This is not that book. Jessica Pan‘s goal ⬇️

This is a BF book about a ‘shintrovert‘s‘ (shy introvert) mission to be an extrovert for a year.
I did feel as though, in some instances, she was trying to overcome shyness rather than introversion; doing stand-up is more to do with confidence than extroversion.
I enjoyed most of the escapades though, I just don‘t see the need to put yourself through it... the world needs introverts! (she says, whilst introverting on the sofa)

#GhostCat nearly burned her tongue sniffing my tea. 😂 Curiosity...
Sitting outside, it's raining, it's pouring. I'm wearing a thin cardigan because it's only 21°C. Temperatures didn't have to drop that much. From 🥵 to 🥶 in one day.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Although I enjoyed reading this book, I cannot believe that a true shy and introverted person would or could do the things that Pan describes. Just reading about her walking up to strangers and asking questions or doing stand-up comedy increase my heat rate. Much like when I read ‘The Sober Diaries‘ earlier this year, I feel a lot has been exaggerated and manufactured for this book.
To be fair, I try desperately hard not to say yes in the first place, as I feel it‘s rude to bail. I must admit I am delighted when someone else cancels plans though!!!
This was an interesting look at a year when a shy introvert faces her nightmares encountering people and tries to be less anxious in her interactions. I haven‘t read Quiet by Susan Cain. Here the author examines introverts but this is really more in the vein of Julie and Julia or Tolstoy and the Purple Chair where you try to change your habit to gain more incite into your nature and/or interests. It was good.
I am not an avid reader of memoirs, nor am I a fan of them. However, I made an exception to my fictional fantasy worlds, for this witty and clever tale of one introvert's haunting tale of trying to extrovert for one year. This is one memoir everyone should read about the trials and tribulations of an introvert being social while not dying of embarrassment in public.

How quickly did this arrive @scripturient ?! Your German post must be mega-quick. Thanks so much for sending it to me, and for the Haribo too!
My husband said ‘Never mind the Haribo, she‘s sent you kitchen roll!‘ 🤣🤣
(That‘s one of the things that has gone out of stock in the UK - I think people are using it instead of toilet roll ??)
Thanks so much - and lovely ‘seeing‘ you last night on the Zoom chat!
Well, the #stayhome24in48 has kind of gotten me out of my slump. This is the only new book I‘ve finished, an #audiobook on #scribd. I liked it fine. The others I‘ve all reviewed here. I should hit 24 hours, as I‘m at 22 now, but I‘m unlikely to finish another book. Here are my brief reviews from Instagram stories.

Some of these stories were more interesting than others. This introvert decided to challenge herself and come out of her shell. She took classes for stand-up comedy, among other things. Some parts I really related to, others I wasn't very interested. Listened to the #audiobook via #scribd
Being an introvert is making social distancing quite easy for me!!

I‘ve been intrigued by this one for a while.... nearly bought it the other day but went for something else instead...

Lunch time read!😌📖 #currentread #tbr #introverting
Not feeling great today so I took advantage of my laying around to finish this one up. It was highly enjoyable! I don‘t think I could ever do some of the things she did (stand up comedy) but it does have me considering challenging myself by doing some new things and getting out in the world more. I loved the author‘s tone and it was just a fun read
"Your vigor for life appals me." This is my new fave line for people who are chipper in the morning ? Also, I can imagine my cat, Dresden saying this.
"There are nights, especially in winter... when I know, as soon as work is over, I need to go straight home...to bake an entire carrot cake... while blasting Ani DiFranco...and then I need to eat as much of it as I want while drinking a cup of tea and reading...This will never change." Yep, I definitely feel you on that!
As a proud introvert, the title of this book really grabbed me. While it was interesting reading about her year of going out of her comfort zone, in my personal opinion she does many things a true introvert would probably never do, like doing improv and stand-up comedy in front of an audience. Still, I learned some things and think this is worth reading. 3.5⭐️

This sounds like my kind of book - about an introvert who doesn‘t like going to events! 😁
I definitely wouldn‘t force myself to do so for a year, but might be fun to read about....

I couldn‘t put this book down. Great storytelling and hilarious anecdotes. Not only do I highly recommend it, but I‘ll be buying my own copy to reread.
“I‘m in search of something more than a new place, though. I‘m in search of a feeling and a state of being: that magical time when you can‘t possibly predict what‘s going to happen next or whom you are going to meet or where they are going to take you. In this state, everything flows, every surprise is a delight, and new people guide you to special adventures.” 💜
on the audio book...i just couldn‘t get past. the fact that. the author could only read. a few words. between pauses. i applaud her willingness. to read. her own book. especially as a shy introvert. but she was poorly coached. and it didn‘t sound. natural at all. that said, lots of great stories and ideas for introverts to get out of their comfort zones.
I ❤️ Introvert-ing books
The author calls herself a shintrovert or shy introvert, which seems to suit her. She gives herself a year of trying to be more extroverted and this memoir covers that year. Chatty and engaging, but kept thinking she focused too much on what she imagined extroverts were like, rather than trying to just engage the world around her as an introvert. Seemed more about her shyness and social awkwardness than anything.
I‘m a sucker for memoirs where the author does something new for a year and writes about it. This one wasn‘t bad and the author‘s voice was appropriately chatty. However, I ended up feeling like the author wasn‘t addressing problems of introversion as much as her shyness. Doing an improv class, stand-up comedy, speaking in public, talking to strangers - all of these fears faced her embarrassment and shyness, not necessarily introversion.
ALA book haul no. 2. I couldn‘t believe Joe Hill‘s new book was in my tote bag at the Random House Book Buzz. I love that panel and it‘s alway my first one fo the conference; it gets me started on the right foot and in a great mood. And they really sold me on The Last Train to London.
#bookmail is the best mail. I needed some comfort reads and discovered these two gems. Looking forward to reading them.

Making friends and maintaining friendships is harder as you get older.
Started this one last night. I love these “year of yes” memoirs, but I don‘t think I‘m the type of introvert to follow in their paths!
Vicariously living through others from the comfort of my own home! ✊🏻
As an introvert masquerading as an extrovert I seek these types of books out...but this one is a Nope, the author is annoying and takes herself way too seriously to be a real introvert. Honestly I don‘t believe her
My Saturday night is pretty good
Can‘t sleep so I‘m reading this. I hate insomnia.
I‘ve never written a book but this felt like I have. I too am a 30 something introverted small town Texas girl w no idea how to make friends. I'm not Chinese or named Jessica but I would‘ve been if my cousin hadn't been born first forcing Mom to name me Jennifer instead. The title caught my eye, b/c SAME. Many times I caught myself nodding enthusiastically & just laughing out loud. I‘m inspired to go on an extrovert journey of my own.

That‘s it folks! The final numbers for my #KindleReads ♥️ I ended up added my BlurFire downloads as well, but I only have a handful on there, as they expire. This is one long list. 18 pages long, to be exact😅 Anyways, I‘m looking forward to tackling this list by using a random number generator. #KindleReads
