I think I need a comfort read to get my mojo back... I feel like I'm frantically trying to get all these books started and nothing is sticking. Wishing you a Happy Easter and blessed Passover!!!
Wonderstruck 5⭐
Wonderful and unique. Two stories one in prose and one in pictures, Set 50 years apart.
The Truth As Told by Mason Buttle 4⭐
Slow to start with, but with a great ending. I knew Mason didn't do it.

Look what came in the mail today! I'm getting excited for next month. I already have my TBR planned! #OverbookedClub #MGBUDDYREAD #MGMARCH @megnews
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This is easily hands-down the children‘s book of the year for me😍Words and illustrations have always formed the backbone of any children‘s book but the marrying of narratives that cross two modalities and merge into a single narrative strand is simply ingenious and magical. It‘s a cross between a graphic novel and a children‘s literature. I am “wonderstruck”! Definitely recommend this for adults and children alike!
Processing some new books, and I almost hate to put the dust jacket back on! This is so pretty!

I absolutely loved this book. This book was an light and fun read!!! It was sooooo good 👍👍👍
I love Brian Selznick!! Wonderful author with a different approach. He uses lots of illustrations and some words to get the message and the story across to the reader. I love this book!!
This Realistic fiction book is great! I loved reading this book. I love how it is words and picture combined to create a different experience while reading. Rose and Ben go off in search of what they are missing and it is a crazy and wonderful read. I would definitely recommend it!
A meh book. ⭐️
I really loved the born of genres between prose and graphic novel. It flowed so completely between the metaphorical language and beautiful illustration. The story was told so completely with full imagery and accompanying drawings. It really came together and intertwined beautifully and really was a story of strength and perseverance.
Fantastic book for children and people of any age. A mature and whimsical mystery spanning fifty years, using a unique novel/graphic novel hybrid format! Brian Selznick is an absolute genius!

What a heartwarming book! I don‘t ever read middle-grade novels but I‘m so glad I read this. I loved the duality of storytelling through the words and the illustrations. It‘s a beautiful story about finding yourself and where you belong.

I think all of Selznick's books are unique reads but this one was my favorite.
Book: Wonderstruck by Brian Selznick. Love all of his, but this is my favorite.
Author: Jacqueline Winspear. Maisie Dobbs is one of my favorite series. In fact I‘m starting her newest, The American Agent, as an advance copy today.
TV Show: Who Do You Think You Are on TLC. Love the genealogy shows.
Food: Watermelon. Summer fave.

This was one of my favourite books growing up. The thickness was super daunting to my middle-grade self, but when I found out that half of the story was told through pictures all that fear moved out of the way for awe. I had never realized that you could tell a story, a VIVID story, without words. Lol I guess I was pretty “wonderstruck” 😂😂😂 Overall a great book for all ages.
1. Spending time with my sister/nephew, reading📘

Easier to keep track of and I can post more than once!
I can not promise to read everything, but I will at a minimum read the top 2 and keep going after that.
There are two galleys, two books I've started but not finished, a sequel, and titles that have been on my TBR for years.
Another great book by Selznick!!! I highly, highly recommend his book!! If you love a good story that has love, mystery, bookish add-ins, & culture involved, this is a story for you 😍📚👍🏻 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
For those that don't know, a librarian tag at Book Expo is like a golden ticket. 3 of these books the publisher gave me the last or only copy because I waited until the end of the day.
Extremely excited to have the new carl Hiaasen middle grade novel.

#getmovin #thunderstruck rhymes with the tagged book! Used this book for #Pop18 as I saw the movie first.
It tells the NYC stories of 2 deaf children, from the 20s and 70s - one told in wordless pictures and the other told in words.
The use of iconic NY museums as settings, added to the magic and wonder. This was charming and heartbreaking, as Rose and Ben navigate their silent worlds, trying to cope with loss and find connections. Just lovely!
I want to crawl inside this book and live there forever!!!! It's got EVERYTHING I love about NYC! The American Museum of Natural History, The Unisphere, the Queens Museum of Art and the Panorama! (I'm a HUGE NY World's Fair fan!)
On top of that, there's a wonderful tear jerking story about Ben finding his place in the world in the place he least expected. A great read for any age!

Heading out after lunch to finish my food shopping & I thought I'd throw @sarah83 a bone and use my Disney parks travel mug today! 😄 In the resort, you can buy these for drinks, either hot or cold, and they really last! One of the better Disney values! Lol
This book, though.... 😭😭😭😭😭
I'm loving it in all the right ways but WHAT A TEAR JERKER!!!
Wonderstruck, a TL, written by Brian Selznick is another fantastic must read. This book is a Newbery award winner and has also been adapted into a film. This book is two stories in one, one taking place in the 20‘ and the other 50 years later in the 70‘s. This book sheds light on the life of a dead person and highlights the idea of fitting into a family in which you don‘t quite fit in.
Just a sample of Selznick's drawings of Rose from Wonderstruck.
This is a touching story of two linked narratives one told in pictures and the other in words. I took this photo as I enjoyed how Selznick depicts Deaf culture and the experiences of two deaf characters and I actually took time to read the acknowledgments!
As always, Selznick has created an engaging and beautiful book. I think this is my favourite of his so far.
Loved it.
#pop18 -A book made into a movie you‘ve already seen.
I saw this 🎥 last year, and was captivated by the young deaf actress, Millicent Simmons.
This book was magical! It has alternating NYC stories of two deaf children, from the 20s and 70s - one told in wordless pictures and the other told in words. This story is charming and heartbreaking, as Rose and Ben navigate their silent worlds, trying to cope with loss and find connections. Just lovely!
While I'm thinking about mail my #cupidgoespostal items are in this bag. No you don't get the bag. That was a gift from @WanderingBookaneer for #halloweengoespostal. BTW #muglove is packed and in the car. It will get shipped as soon as I get paid.
This book was okay. There wasn't anything wrong with it; It just did not captivate us the way that The Invention of Hugo Cabret did.
A storyline set in 1927 converges with a storyline in 1977. I don‘t want to say any more because spoilers. Gorgeous illustrations and and incredibly moving story. Loved it and can‘t wait to watch the movie.
Day one of the book sale hosted by our local Boys & Girls Club. I may be visiting daily. Oh, who am I kidding?
Turning the page of entertainment Weekly 8/18 & 25 edition to see this, makes me smile. Film adaptation of this captivating novel out in October.
For all the young at heart Littens, beautiful illustrated story about the boy and girl, looking for the parents in the big city.
#rockinmay #newyorkminute
I have read this book, because of the recommendation of the 9yo girl. A lovely story about a boy searching for his father (his story takes place in the present and the narration is with words), and about a girl - looking for mother (the narrative is presented with beautiful illustrations and set in the past). Cute, an instructive story that offers the possibility of discussion with children about people with disabilities.
My plans for #deweysreadathon and #springcleaningreadathon #readathon
First I'm going to finish ebook - Idaho (Emily Ruskovich) and audiobook I'll Give You the Sun (Jandy Nelson) and then - something from this pile.
Harley is investigating my #bookhaul from my second trip to the local church shop's 50% off sale. Each of these were $1.00. I think I own all of Chevy Stevens' books now, and Wonderstruck was my most exciting find! It's a brand new hardcover. 😍 #usedbooks #dogsoflitsy
