The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding
The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding | Agatha Christie
An English country house at Christmas time, with its crackling log fires and fine food, may seem an incongruous setting for a crime -- but a sinister note left on his pillow tells Hercule Poirot everything is not as it seems. The great detective plays his cards close to his chest -- until the discovery of a young woman lying in the snow, a Kurdish knife in the centre of a crimson stain on her white wrap, spurs Poirot into revealing his hand. Seven cases in which Hercule Poirot and Jane Marple prove conclusively that their powers of detection take the cake

Short and sweet Poirot! A classic detective story, more of a switcheroo than anything. I did like the holiday setting, though!

I was able to squeeze in 1 more book before the New Year! I listened to this quick short story by Agatha Christie.

It was a very quick and fun mystery of Hercule Poirot

#TeamElectricSex #HolidayRead Winter Games

Final reading time for #24B42020 is 14 hours (I accidentally left my timer on after I finished the audio book 🤦‍♀️, luckily I looked at the time before I started!)

I read this Poirot short story last night before bed so some of the details are a tad fuzzy, but it was a fun holiday read — you can‘t go wrong with Dame Agatha! 4⭐️

Suchet will always be my Poirot!

5 stars for this short story in 'The Big Book of Christmas Mysteries'. I'm going to try to tag each separate story so that I don't have to keep reviewing the same book.

I enjoyed this collection of stories. The title story has an excellent festive atmosphere, and I had fun comparing The Mystery of the Spanish Chest with my memory of the Suchet TV adaptation.

I picked this up at the end of November, as it covers Christmas and well I love Agatha Christie. I didn't really see that it is short crime stories. They were all quite interesting. Mostly Poirot, the last story is Miss Marple. #books #agathachristie #bookcover #crimestories

In the short story "The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding", a few mischievous children plan to make a snowman that resembles Poirot and present him with a surprise Christmas gift of a fake murder scene. Kids are so sweet sometimes!

My first foray into the world of Agatha Christie which is weird because I devour mysteries, I can‘t think why I have never read her work before. I chose this one because of the season, it felt right to read about a Christmas pudding at Christmas time. I enjoyed the stories and particularly liked the character of Hercule Poirot who popped up in most of them. This was a hardcover crime series featuring the three books above.

My contribution to our Christmas meal is the trifle. No idea if it's in any way like a British trifle, and I've never met two people who made it the same way. This is the way my mom has always made it, bar the whipped cream from a can as I didn't think fresh cream would make it in this heat. It's a layer of Swiss roll slices covered by liquid jelly (Jello) mixed with sherry and left to set, covered by tinned mixed fruit, custard and cream.

MommyWantsToReadHerBook No, it's not the same with fresh fruit without a hideous amount of sugar 😊 2y
melissajayne Whenever I think of trifle I think of Friends when Rachel made her trifle. 2y
MommyWantsToReadHerBook Oh yes! Ew. No mince meat or peas in this one, thank goodness! 2y

No books for me sadly (it‘s like these people don‘t know me at all 🤣) but I did get a couple of vouchers for my local bookshop so there is a silver lining. We had a typical Queensland day, stinking hot all day and a violent thunderstorm in the late afternoon. A simple family Christmas with fond memories of past times. I hope your day was lovely.

This was my first Agatha Christie and definitely won't be the last. It was just a super delightful read and exactly what I needed at this time of year. Hercule Poirot is so twinkly. I love it.
