October: THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR
September vs. October: THE HOUSE IN THE CERULEAN SEA
God vs. Sea: THE GOD IN THE WOODS
What a charming story. And I was surprised by its reflective depth, in addition to the humorous scenes I expected. This was a #CastTheDie selection, as well as my #ReadOrDonate choice for October, but I won‘t be donating it. 😉

I adored the movie as a teenager. The dialogue of the saucy sea captain was a delight to read, as was the relationship that develops between Mrs. Muir and her captain ghost. The movie followed the book fairly well, and I totally applaud the movie for leaving out the dreaded son, Cyril. A quick read at < 200 pages, if you love an impossible romance, this one suffices. Yet, I think I prefer the movie over the book. Probably because of #sexyrexy. 😀

You, too, @Eggs @peaKnit @mcctrish! 🖤🖤🖤
1. Matt and I discussed this topic on our dog walk this morning. We still haven't made up our minds because the GSDs will go crazy with the ringing doorbell. He's going to Costco tomorrow, so the decision is his. Maybe if he gets candy that's not chocolate, I'll be able to resist. 😂
2. Sexy-Rexy sea captain! 🤩

I am in the early 1900s in the seaside town of Whitecliff in Dorset, England. I'm living in Gull Cottage with the previous owner, an ornery captain who happens to be dead and is now a ghost. Loved this movie, so now I'm reading the book!

“Mrs. Muir was a little woman.“
My #ReadOrDonate choice for October is The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. I loved the tv show as a kid, but have never read the book. Several of you have already posted… what will everyone else be reading? 👻🎃👻
It was a nostalgic reading maybe remembering those old movies which I like to watch sometimes. After her husband death, Lucy moved to this house to change her life, good for her. But the house was haunted by the “ghost” of Captain Gregg who used to scared everyone except Lucy. Then, the story goes narrating the strange relationship between these two characters. It was an unrealistic but pleasant read for this fall season. 3⭐️
Perhaps not perfect, but perfectly delightful. Now to watch the movie again!
My favorite fictional spirit is Captain Gregg from the tagged book. I don‘t picture him as depicted on this vintage dust jacket, though. Rex Harrison and Edward Mulhare are more my taste in sea captains. 😄

Listened to this on my way home today. Can‘t wait to rewatch the movie. #Scarathlon #BatBrigade

I‘ve always enjoyed this movie (1947), although I haven‘t seen it in awhile. I came across the #audiobook on Audible Plus. It‘s only 5 hours or so and is quite enjoyable. Very easy listening and soothing to listen to around bedtime. I will say I like the character of Lucy better in the movie. She‘s a bit too uptight and naive for my tastes sometimes in the book. But the narrator is great! Such a fun ghost story. 3.75⭐️

I thought this was a lovely, sweet little read. It‘s quite humorous, too. I loved the characters. I would class it as more of a novella than a novel as it‘s fairly short at under 200 pages.
Always Loved the movie with Rex Harrison and wanted to read the book. The movie followed the book pretty closely with only some minor understandable changes. I enjoyed the audio book and can‘t wait to watch the movie again.
This book is so sweet, and easy on my mind. I actually saw the movie first (with Rex Harrison and Gene Tierney), and it's pretty faithful to the book.
I don't know quite was I was expecting but whatever it was this wasn't it. I had trouble deciding if this was a pick or a so-so but there were some clever turns of phrase & some lines that made me laugh &, most of all, reflections from Lucy on the joys of quiet and solitude (like the one above) which pushed this over to a pick for me. All the same I'm glad it was short & that it's over. I suspect I'd like the movie much better, maybe I'll try it.
I didn't much mind the Victorian attitudes on display in this book as it was actually written then- I even found Lucy's silliness a little charming, esp when she waxes poetic about the quiet life she's arranged for herself- but this infuriated me. She (pretty much) came to her senses but I'm now glad this book is so short as I'm not sure I want to spend much more time with her. 😠
Current read. I'm reading at work when I can grab a few minutes here and there. 😉🤫
I love this movie!! I got a sample a couple years ago and today it‘s on sale!! Guess what I‘m going to be reading!?!?!? I‘m so thrilled 😍😍📚🐉
One of my very favorite books is on sale for Kindle today. 😊 #kindledeal #ebookdeal
I have not read the book... yet. The movie that I did see is Old Hollywood. You can find it shown on TCM, now and then. Romance with a handsome #ghost sea captain. #octoberxfiles #ghosts

A little evening reading and snacking (on some carrot cake just pulled out of the oven!).
#junetunz #afterlife Adore the movie based on this love story between a widow and a foul-mouthed sea captain ghost. The book is in the pile next to my bed, will hopefully get to it soon!
How romantic to #sail around the world with Captain Gregg! Plus a #duckquote for @DuckOfDoom 😄#lyricalapril
Currently watching The Ghost and Mrs Muir. Really want to track down a copy of the book one day! Anyone read it?
#Witchorghost? Easy--I'd be the ghost OF Mrs. Muir! 😍 #octphotochallenge
My friend sent me this special gift. A ghost story for the Halloween season.
One of my favorite books (and movies) ...
The movie was fantastic so I am on a quest for the book.
