I'm really enjoying this... It's making me want to go hiking through America's national parks! My mum made me this beautiful quilt for my birthday 💗

Started off reading this one quickly but lost momentum in the middle. Every book I read about thru hiking just makes me want to get my butt back out there. Memories of the John Muir Trail were swirling around in my brain. I liked his voice throughout this one but every so often found myself cringing at the absence of leave no trace methods of hiking. 🤷🏼♀️
I'm not a fan of all his books, but Bryson's tale of his hike of the AT was rather good.

EVERYBODY, c'mon and play! 👩🏼💻🤩🤗
Reading about Bryson‘s adventures on the Appalachian Trail was great fun. I didn‘t know it was a movie. I‘d like to see it. This inspired me to check out a YouTuber who‘s done the trail a few times. Pretty amazing.
I also started on this one yesterday. I hope I remember what to do next since my daughter won‘t be here when I get out the actual colors. #LitsyCrafters @Catsandbooks
Next audiobook!

We went on a fall nature scavenger hunt today for our #halloweenbucketlist! We found a banana slug, a squirrel, and so many fall colors. The highlight was spotting a Red Headed Pileated Woodpecker! #scarathlon2022 #teamslaughter
Well turns out I do like me some grumpy old men getting lost in the woods. If you‘re a Bryson fan already, which I am, you‘re going to like this book. Brysons love of history and his endless “Did you know?” facts keep this book interesting. His arguments and peeves with his hiking mate Katz, keep it humorous. And he has a love for this trail and the wilderness. But this is as much about when we give up as when we push through. Very entertaining.
Apparently one of the most divisive books among thru-hikers on the Appalachian Trail. A love or hate type of book. I thought it was decent. Bryson himself annoyed me greatly, but I loved his writing and his soliloquies of preservationist mentality and love for trees, animals, and true, unharmed wildlife. I wouldn‘t recommend this book, but overall liked to read it. Currently nursing a terribly timed, pre long walk foot 🥲
Took a mental health day today. I‘ve been plugging away at my cross stitch while starting a new listen: A Walk in the Woods. #audiostitching
I also just started Cat on a Hot Tin Roof after finishing The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra (which was good enough; probably won‘t read any more titles in the series unless anyone highly recommends them)
While I don‘t usually take pictures during hikes, I do have a beautiful picture from an early evening walk last week. The tagged book was the first book that came to mind.

1. I've done all sorts of different camping, and I don't think it is for me, but I did enjoy glamping recently.
2. SMorrs Camp
3. A Walk in the Woods
4. No reading goal...just trying to keep up with my book club reads while doing some summer traveling

1. If I had my way, I‘d sleep under the stars in a hammock or in a tent depending on the weather. Unfortunately my family and friends don‘t share my sentiment and so we‘re usually “glamping”.
2. Camp Quitcherbitchin (I can‘t take credit for making it up, but it‘s VERY fitting for my camp 🤣)
3. Nonfiction: A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson,
Fiction: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
4. Read at least one hour a day
#LitsySummerCamp
1. Cabin, for sure. I am an indoorsy girl.
2. Creature Comforts Camping
3. A Walk in the Woods (Bryson) and Wild (Strayed) both had me wanting to go outside for about a minute and a half.
4. I'm gonna try to finish 7 books.

Interesting account of Bryson‘s attempt to hike the Appalachian Trail, accompanied by a woefully ill-prepared ‘friend.‘
I was expecting a laugh riot when I began listening to this book. It‘s often shelved under humor and discussed that way. However, much of this book is pretty serious; there are descriptions of bear attacks, talk about mismanagement of public lands, and stories of a couple of murders on the Appalachian Trail. In between that, there is humor, but also a bit of smugness. Overall, I enjoyed this book.
I‘ve been so sick with COVID that I haven‘t read in over a week, which if you are like me, you must be pretty damn sick not to be able, or actually want to read. Yesterday the fever finally broke, and I felt well enough to pick up a book. And this is the one that captured my interest, taking me far away from myself to the AT. And today, reading this opening sentence in this paragraph is the first time I laughed out loud in weeks.

1. Yes - The Snowy Day and a few others
2. It can be. I usually dislike when a publisher removes cover art for the movie poster.
3. Tagged - it‘s hilarious!

Part humorous reflection on hiking on the Appalachian Trail and part history of The AT and its flora and fauna. I found it to an honest and, more often than not, funny account of Bill Bryson hiking the AT with friend Stephen Katz. Very enjoyable! 4 stars.

Prompt: Forest
On my TBR list for March. I hope I get to it!🤞
Originally thought it was a standard recount of the Appalachian trial, but his personal story makes it incredibly relatable. ESP. If the AT‘s on your bucket list! Very realistic but none the less inspiring account to break out your boots and head outside
What can I say - it was Bill Bryson and Audible gave to me for free. Bryson and his old travelling companion Katz decide to walk the Appalachian Trail as middle age men. Full of Bryson‘s normal humour and slightly off centre way of seeing the world. An amusing way to spend a few hours.
“Hunters will tell you that a moose is a wily and ferocious forest creature. Nonsense. A moose is a cow drawn by a three-year-old.”
😂😂😂
I really hated this book and I would have DNF'd it if I wasn't reading this for my book club. Bryson starts the book talking about he's not a pussy like some men, which really put me off and reeked of toxic masculinity there. Yikes. He makes all these comments about people that are condescending that I just want to slap him. In some reviews, I see some love that he does it and thinks he's funny. I think he's an ass.
@jb72 I try to get a much fresh air as possible these days. Our recent outings are all outdoors - hikes, bike rides, long walks with the dog and rollerblading.
Grateful for: blue skies, sunshine, fresh rain, crisp cool breezes, and trees.

@jb72 Here‘s a little Florida nature for you. Nature is big for me. I grew up on acres of land so outside (usually with a book) was where you could find me if I wasn‘t at school.
Quarantine has reminded me of my need for fresh air. In particular, I love watching the clouds roll by and this past weekends hike was wet but still fun. #gratitude

Nov 6: Nature has been a big part of my life. I am from Florida and miss it quite a bit. The beach is my happy place. Let‘s all say thank you to Mother Nature. She sure has given us so much beauty. A beauty we should respect and protect. Post your favorite nature picture.
Gratitude:
1. The great outdoors (good movie too)
2. Sitting outside to soak up vitamin D
3. Cameras to take such amazing pictures

This is still on my "read soon" list. Wonder if I will get to it before the end of the year? ?
My Book Outlet order came today. I know I have tons to read already but I can't resist. What if I ran out of books? The horror!! 😱
The woods and hiking are a happy place. Bonus if camping with my family. I just feel better when I‘m hiking. And I‘m sharing links with books around hiking so I can add them to my TBR....
