June 1st, we will start Little Dorrit. Read at your own pace, tag @Cuilin and @Texreader with any thoughts, quotes, or reviews. All are welcome. This is a first time read for me and I‘m looking forward to it. How about you?
I love Dickens‘ personification in his stories. It‘s what made me first love his writing. And here we go, what‘s that crazy mud up to this time?
#whattheDickens @Cuilin
I can forgive Dickens for interminably long sentences because look at this beauty! It‘s so gorgeously crafted and delivers a soft powerful punch there at the end. I love this man.
Consider this a preview of things to come reading our next book for #whattheDickens ! @Cuilin
I‘m starting this audiobook today to get a head start on our next read for #whattheDickens in June. @Cuilin
31 Aug-13 Sep 23 (audiobook)
A new book to add to my list of favourite Dickens. I loved this. Fanny and Mr Dorritt made me laugh; the Meagles were just lovely; and I felt that all characters received a satisfying ending. And Dickens manages to convey the absurdity of the debtors‘ prison and the sheer luck of wealth.
Juliet Stevenson is a wonderful narrator. Thoroughly recommend.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ (The 2008 BBC miniseries starring Matthew Macfadyen is 5⭐! 😍) I have loved this story since watching the miniseries but am just now getting to the book. So good!!
Going to finally finish Little Dorrit this afternoon, agree rather long periods of neglect. And couldn't help noticing how well Iggy goes with an Modern Library edition 😏
Additionally, not sure if any #whatthedickens stragglers are interested, but I'm planning to continue working my way through Dickens. Joined a GR group just starting Little Dorrit, so I'll be reading this over the next few months, if anyone is inclined. @Lcsmcat @BarkingMadRun
Little Dorrit demonstrates and insists on the possibility of moral self-cultivation and rewards or punishes those characters according to their moral behavior. In short, no one gets away with anything because everyone's accountable for themselves. The intricate development of the characters predisposes the reader to be heavily vested in the story‘s characters and the stories development, an overall delightful read!
Some of dickens most lovable and hilarious characters
Bookish goodies (and a bunch of toys in the background)!
Merry Christmas litsyland!
We hit the Friends of the Sacramento Public Library Book Den sale today. Found so many goodies #ilovebooks #charlesdickens
Still clearing out bookshelves, and came across this classic that I read a few years ago. I truly believe that many young people dislike classics because they are too young to appreciate them when they‘re more or less forced to read them. Hubby says you have to be a father to truly appreciate Silas Marner. Anyway, if you would like to have this, let me know😄
My gran loved reading more than anything, and she was always delighted that I shared her passion. My gran recently passed away and I kept a handful (ahem, 26) of her books, to read and to remember her by. Problem is, I just realised I‘ve broken my ‘can‘t have more than 350 books in this house that I haven‘t yet read‘ rule.
Current owned TBR = 374. Oops.
The only thing I remember about this one from college is the entire class saying, “Nope.” We ended up reading only small sections of it. I still own the book and it would be interesting to go back now to try to read it - I think.

I‘m so excited about this gift from @Sarah83 that arrived today! I was a winner of her #maylovesclassics giveaway. I will definitely look forward to reading Little Dorrit and the bookmark “I Like Big Books And I Cannot Lie” is perfect!! Thanks so much Sarah 😍😘💖!!
I think my copy of Little Dorrit qualifies as a #tome. #oldcoolbooks @Linsy
For me Dorrit is a #heroine as she has to survive in Dickensian times. #litsyclassics @Bambolina_81
Just one of my many stacks of very old, very read books.
I have stayed away from his chunksters for years, but I really think I should tackle at least one of them soonish. Which chunkster by Dickens should I start with and why?
Title page and frontispiece from the copy of Little Dorrit my daughter gave me several Christmases ago. #AmyDorrit #dickensiandecember @jenniferw88
This is still TBR for me but just discovered Andrew Davies made a series of it with Claire Foy (Queen Elizabeth in the Crown) as #AmyDorrit so I guess it‘s TBW now as well. #DickensianDecember @jenniferw88
L - Little Dorritt
I - Interpreter of Maladies
N - Never Let Me Go
D - Do Not Say We Have Nothing
A - Alias Grace

I managed to do a 4 year Scottish degree in English Lit and totally avoid Dickens. I read Great Expectations in my mid teens and HATED it. So this is the only Dickens I own. #TBRsomeday maybe a considerable number of additional years will change my mind. Yet another chunkster #Ilikebigboks
So many books...

#maybookflowers I have an #obsession with old books. The older and more worn, the better, because it shows how loved and read they've been!
Just finished another classic that has been added to my favorites list! A wonderful story of girls generosity and humility that lasts through the UPS and downs of her life.
#readJanuary. This is my definitive #slowread, but it was so absolutely worth it. I have this weird relationship with Dickens. My favorite of his books is Bleak House, yet I've never been able to get through Great Expectations, and I've tried multiple times. This, though, is probably in my top ten classics.
A photo of a book which I possess in two languages. Both editions of #aclassicihaventread are special. The german edition is written in 'sütterlin' which is an old writing & the english one I bought in #HayonWye 😍
That moment when you can't figure out the enemy until the end of a story. THATS when you hold a masterpiece! #ClassicLiterature #CharlesDickens
Repeated themes of imprisonment, false appearances and the mixed up conception of respectability. Every Dickens novel is a masterpiece to me, but in my opinion, this lacks the heart of some of his other novels.
When I can't get my hands in my iPad to read, I'm starting my summer chunkster! #prayforme #begentlewithmecharles
Finishing some Dickens while I finish a hat. This is a more jaded book, I think than Bleak House. The worries over wealth and class have a more punitive tone in this story of debt, greed, and family.
