Some of these are old favorites- Arsenic and Old Lace, Popcorn, Practical Magic, Invitation, Cutting Class, Freaky, Hocus Pocus, The Babysitter, but the rest are mostly new to me! I will be re-watching the first season of A Discovery of Witches bc it's been so long, before moving on. #SkeletonCrew

Halloween is a big movie time in our household. It probably helps that my husband's birthday is October 31 :-D

My aunt gave me this Hocus Pocus coffee mug. She knows me well and I think I'm loved just a tad little bit. Really enjoyed the new movie, now they need to do a Prequel. Those 3 little girls did an awesome job
Finally got around to watching the new Hocus Pocus and it was really cute! Might even like it better than the original (although I just watched that for the first time a few weeks ago so it‘s not like I grew up loving that movie). I also loved how they changed the Disney castle in the opening! I‘m such a dork and thought that was really cool 🤣! #scarathlon2022 #teamslaughter

Watched Hocus Pocus 2 with my husband, our bunny, & my mother-in-law this afternoon.
I thought the energy was a bit off & tamped down at first but it picked up speed by the end. It felt wrong that my favorite character wasn‘t a powerful woman...but oh well. Mayor Traske for President 2024!
The overall message is about sisterhood & the redistribution of power, which feels right. AND, may we all endeavor to remember: books are magic.

I love the original Hocus Pocus movie, and it's a staple of our Halloween traditions. I found the book to be accurate to the original, and the written sequel was true to brand. Can't wait to see the movie!
bailedI think the book is fun, but pretty repetitive. It is a cute book though! Fun to have for my collection.
so-soThis was not my favorite despite wanting it to be. Second part had too much teenage angst and not enough witches. I hope the second movie has a different plot line.

panI was disappointed in both stories. I was hoping for more backstory on the Sanderson sisters in the first book but it was mostly identical to the movie. The sequel was okay but I found it said the same thing over and over but in different ways. I found myself skimming past the rambling to get to the important parts of the plot.
Came across this wonderful memory from 2019 - a viewing of Hocus Pocus and a meet-n-greet with Kathy Najimy. She was just lovely. Time for my seasonal viewing!
Started Hocus Pocus... not sure I'm going to be able to finish it until later. Have to go to my in-laws for dinner.

It's probably a good thing we didn't have kids, because I totally would have traumatized them by using this song as their lullaby. I could not find my copy of this book, but I love reading the novelization of the movie... the sequel, not so much.

so-soToo young for me. And too much in the sequel remind us of the original. And a bit too unbelievable for a story about witches? This Scooby gang would‘ve been gobbled up by those witches if it weren‘t for that meddling plot twist! I give it a meh.
so-soIf your a Hocus Pocus fan, I say just stick with the original book and movie. This book is just a retelling of the movie with a subpar sequel that leaves room for an even more subpar sequel. Rating: 1 ⭐️

so-soThe first half was great, as this is one of my FAVORITE Halloween movies! The second half... Not as good as I'd hoped, but I am hoping they continue with the implied sequel!

Yesterday evening's trip to see family meant cuddles with my niece and a family friendly movie. I only saw this for the first time maybe 2 years ago but it's cute and I see why it's such a Halloween favorite.

pickFull disclosure- I only re-read the first book in this duo bc the sequel is just okay. But I do enjoy this novelization bc it fleshes out the characters a bit more and makes Max less of a yabbos chasing idiot who actually likes Alison for her brains and her looks. Plus more of the Sanderson Sisters!!
