Really?
Started this book today. After just the Author's Note, the Prologue, and this quote, I think I'm going to have fun with this one.

Is anyone on here a big Fable user? Is it just me, or are the threads on the post feature very user-unfriendly?? The reply button feels hidden, and even when I find it, my replies sometimes get sent off into the ether never to be found again 😅 Sticking with it for the virtual book clubs, but I think Litsy is a much better social app 🤷🏽♀️
Finished the team book. It made another Bingo!! I‘m going to try to squeak in one more book. #Scarathlon #TeamHendrix #BookSpinBingo #Wickedathon #ReadWithUs #SpookOWeen #Screamathon #20in4
“I wanted to pit a man freed from all responsibilities but his appetites against women whose lives are shaped by their endless responsibilities. I wanted to pit Dracula against my mom. As you‘ll see, it‘s not a fair fight.” 💀💀💀💀
This book was gross and I loved it. Not as bad as My Best Friend‘s Exorcism, but still grody. The ending hit me harder than expected.

I really hate when a book uses assault as a plot point, and then that plot point is dumb or doesn‘t go anywhere. I was really liking this book until then, so I‘m really disappointed Hendrix went there. Also, VERY startling to read your name in a book like this, haha.

Set in the 90s, a small southern town falls under the spell of an underworld intruder and it‘s up to a ladies book club group to save them all. Vampire books aren‘t usually up my alley, but this was pretty great. Bahni Turpin, the best audiobook narrator of all time, does an especially fantastic job with this one.
This book was SO amazing. I read through it so fast because I couldn't put it down. Some Southern house wives start a book club and get really into reading true crime. When an attack happens and a stranger moves into their small town they will have to decide what to do to protect their families. #horror #southerngothic
#unpopularopinion Aside from the fact that I‘m a huge coward and bothered more than a little by the extreme gore, I also felt like the characters here were stereotypical, one dimensional, and placed in the wrong decade. This will be perfect for tomorrow night when I'm watching the ball drop on TV! Thank you so much @Liz_M !! 🎊🥂🎉

I think this is the best book title I‘ve seen in years - audacious, funny, contains things I love (vampires, book clubs, slaying) - so I just had to read it!! What book titles screamed out READ ME READ ME READ ME to you in recent times?!?!!!
I think I #love this book so much bc I am a #southerngirl and a Mama of five and I love to read. I‘ve never laughed so damn hard at an #audiobook in such a long time. This was a good choice for me especially since I needed a #scifi break. I think Kitty is my favorite which coincidentally she also has five kids and a husband who leaves car parts everywhere 😂😂😂😂
This book wasn‘t what I expected. I spent most of the book being really really angry. Angry at the men. Angry at the women, wanting to shake them. And, a little grossed out some of the times. I even cried. But in the end I have to say this was a pick for me. The gaslighting, the sexism, the classism, the racism; it was all there. I think I‘m gonna need something lighter after this. Now the wait comes for Hendrix‘s next book; he doesn‘t disappoint.
Loved this satirical horror! This book was so much more than I was expecting. It had me laughing, cringing, and completely infuriated with the men (lots of gaslighting) and it tackles some important social issues like sexism, racism, and classism. With the audiobook, I had the additional benefit of listening to Bahni Turpin narrate.

This was fun. A group of American housewives reveal an evil plot driven by a murderous vampire 🧛♂️. If you need something scary but also entertaining (and feminist) for your #Halloween weekend, I recommend this.

After a trip to the post office I decided to splurge on a lunch out before the go back to work. I‘m the only person on the whole upper floor. Just how I like it.

LOVED IT.
I't scary and funny at the same time and it reminds me at the ancient times of glorious vampires!
I've loved every single page and there are plenty! It tooks me only 4 days, even if I'm visiting cities in Tuscany, because it was too hard to close it.
I think I will looking for other books from the same author ❤

About 2 hrs into this audio book & loving it!! It‘s a bit like Steel Magnolias meets Buffy :) Fun listen!!
If my socks don‘t match the cover of my favorite read of 2020, can I even call it a favorite? 😂 I was in the process of purchasing a pair of novelty socks for my daughter‘s birthday from Hot Sox the other day and I decided to browse the rest of their stock before paying. I did not hesitate to add this peachy pair to my cart when I saw them! 🍑🍑🍑
Do you like fun socks? I love them! I have a lot of them, too. 😂
Hooray for book mail!! I've been looking forward to this one, all his books have been so much fun!
“At what pint do we get concerned?
Never. “
It‘s the idea that so many unexplainable occurrences, odd behaviors and unanswered questions can willfully go unnoticed that result in communities who ignore what is going on in their own backyard. The idea that there is a stranger among us, someone not to trust is so unwanted that a community can decide to turn their eyes away and ignore the evidence.
🎧 This is a horror novel set in the early 90‘s in the south. Definitely adult situations, language, blood, gore, violence. “We‘re not a lynch mob, we‘re a book club.” The writing is good, keeps you engaged & even has laughs. If you like horror & if you like your vampires more like The Strain than Twilight then this book might be for you. The name of the book explains it all. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I dug it! The time period was fun, and these were the Southern women I grew up adjacent to. It wasn‘t my mom, but the book club members were definitely my schoolmates‘ moms. References to books are always welcome in my reading world and this book had plenty. I speak from experience when I say book clubs are powerful things and I‘d fight a vampire with mine any day 💪👊😘
“...and told (her daughter) she couldn‘t wear a choker to school, and had to listen while Korey told her she was practically a nun...”. Strange that this book is set in the past but I‘m totally seeing my future 😳😅

Tiny nuggets of snarky brilliance is the reason I read and this one is spot on...because “it‘s not!” 😄👏
I'm jumping in! Happy Saturday night, littens! 😀📚💕🍿

1. It‘s the name of my blog, which I chose because I tend to wander, both places and thoughts.
2. attorney
3. I‘m still working (just from home), & then life‘s pretty much the same for me (puzzles, writing, and reading) #introvertlife
4. Tagged, Born A Crime, and Caffeine
5. I‘ve been watching cartoons. Started with the new Scooby Doo, then some original episodes, then Adventures of Puss In Boots, & now All Hail King Julian
First line in this book, " This story ends in blood." I have never read a book by this author, and I'm looking forward to it. Honestly, I borrowed it based only on the title.
Today on the blog I'm sharing my recent Netgalley and library hauls (digital of course).
Stop on by and let me know what you've added to your physical or digital collections recently!

Hilarious event with Grady Hendrix tonight. And very cool - he's doing Social Distance Book Signing! I will be mailing my book to him for sure. 😄
A vampire story set in the 90‘s in Charleston, SC is right up my alley. These women are looked down upon by their men as being the “little ladies”. Turns out they are a group of badasses that do whatever they can to protect their children and neighborhood. They bonded over true crime books and then have to deal with evil existing right in their back yard. This book is gory but also funny and women supporting each other is always a win for me.
@FantasyChick So far this is what I imagine it‘d be like if we were in an IRL book club
Five bright, shiny stars for this gloriously amusing piece of fiction!

Now which one to start reading. This one or A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones. Decisions, decisions. 🤷🏼♀️
