1. Definitely the people! Everyone here is so friendly, and I see none of the drama that permeates other social media.
2. Honestly, nothing. Even when I‘m not participating in something, it‘s fun to see other people‘s posts on it.
3. Maybe the ability to message each other?
4. It varies, but usually at least 3 times a week.
5. I haven‘t done any swaps yet! 🙈 But I‘ve enjoyed all the other things.
6. Maybe increase the character limit on posts?

ljuliel Thank you very kindly ! Great answers. 😊 2mo

3️⃣ Milo, ball python extraordinaire! 💙🐍
4️⃣ I have TBR lists all over creation—not one is accurate or complete. List here should be unowned (now). 😂
5️⃣ Tasmanian Devil, M&Ms (mostly Blue), Animal (Muppet), Funko Pops
6️⃣ Most in 1️⃣ have been neglected—need more Me Time!

JoyBlue Sorry it's taken me so long to play along, @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @TheBookHippie! 💙📚 9mo
Leftcoastzen How is Milo? I know you were worried about him eating less. 9mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks ❤️❤️❤️ 9mo
JoyBlue @Leftcoastzen Thanks for asking after him! 💙 I‘ve decided not to try another feeding session until his usual night (Thursday). Maybe going without will be incentive enough to not piddle around about it this week. In the meantime, he looks good, and he‘s “playing nice” with me at night—exploring for a bit, then settling down for a bit before I put him back in his habitat. 9mo

🍲🌱 I love to cook and garden
👻 My favorite genre is horror of course
🐍🦎🦎🦂🕷️🕷️🕷️🕷️🐇 We have a snake, 2 geckos, a scorpion, 4 spiders and a bunny
📚 Most of them are unowned but I would go with my Amazon wish List because those are all unowned.
🦄 I collect My Little Ponies and mermaid stuff 🧜
🌺 You are all wonderful. Thank you for letting me be a part of this!

Carolyn11215 Woah...a scorpion? You are one brave gal. That‘s one of the few things in the Southwest that scare the bejesus out of me. Some of them glow in the dark...Friends and I insist that‘s because they are made of nightmares. 😜 Love bunnies and I‘m a fan of snakes that I know aren‘t poisonous. Geckos are awesome! Do yours “bark?” (edited) 10mo
TheReadingMermaid @Carolyn11215 haha that is awesome. Usually people go off on me about the spiders. Don't worry he is not poisonous at all. He is an Asian forest scorpion which is one of the bigger black colored breeds. He is a total asshole though and will tag you if you get near LOL the snake that we have is a ball python and she is the sweetest thing. And are leopard gecko used to bark when she was younger but not anymore. 10mo
Carolyn11215 Pythons are sooo cool! My spouse is always lecturing me about how spiders are our friends so I try hard to live and let live with spiders as long as they stay out of my bedroom. Even she put her foot down (pun intended) when she found a baby black widow spider in her sneaker that had been left on the back porch. I thought to check about scorpions before moving to Santa Fe (no sightings in town) but neglected to ask about Black Widows. (edited) 10mo
See All 14 Comments
Carolyn11215 Apparently Black Widows are both shy and smart. She shook the baby out of her shoe and it rolled over and played dead. When she came back outside deciding she couldn‘t leave it where dog could eat it when she goes out in the back yard, it had moved off the porch and hidden somewhere else. (edited) 10mo
TheReadingMermaid @Carolyn11215 yeah black widows are not cool. Mine are just harmless tarantulas. one of them is the most gentle animal I've ever met in my life and the other two are just so fascinating to watch. And yes are ball python (Baby Jane) is such a sweetheart. Which is funny cuz when we got her she was so high-strung that she would strike at anybody that came near her. But not anymore 💕🐍💕 10mo
Carolyn11215 So apparently just outside Santa Fe at a particular time of year there is a “March of the Tarantulas” where they all come out and walk around. My boss lives on a farm out of town (hence the baby goat in our office) and jumped off her stairs when she saw one crawling around. Apparently it‘s quite the sight...I fear it would be a heartstopping one for me. :) (edited) 10mo
Carolyn11215 My spouse got struck by a hungry python at a pet store a gazillion years ago when she was wagging its dead mouse meal in front of it and python misjudged distance. Apparently that‘s quite the ouchy. It was normally a very affectionate python (loved to be cuddled for body heat) so my spouse didn‘t hold a grudge. :) 10mo
TheReadingMermaid @Carolyn11215 oh my goodness that would be a sight to see wouldn't it? and yeah I've heard of that happening with pythons more than once. That is why we have decided to live feed hours and let her hunt so we don't get tagged. I think it helps her with her natural instinct to hunt prey anyway. not to mention she's damn good at what she does 😂 10mo
Carolyn11215 I think Skip fed it dead mice because the python had been injured by a mouse/rat that managed to get a bite in before being swallowed and the python was pretty sick and wouldn‘t eat for awhile due to the injury. Skip was very fond of that python when she worked at pet shop. 10mo
TheReadingMermaid @Carolyn11215 I know that is a complication that can happen with live feeding. but honestly our python grabs them up so quickly they're dead within seconds. That's sad that that happened I'm so sorry. 10mo
Carolyn11215 The python healed and as I recall went home with someone who took very good care of it. Skip ended up with the cranky conure who bit everyone who bought it and kept being brought back to the pet shop. She finally brought it home herself when owner of the store threatened to euthanize it. Think Skip decided to leave their employ shortly thereafter. 10mo
Carolyn11215 Man that bird could kick up a ruckus!! 10mo
TheReadingMermaid @Carolyn11215 oh my goodness. Poor thing was probably mistreated or not handled at all. I feel so bad for animals like that. I wish I could save them all but unfortunately.... 10mo
Carolyn11215 Apparently bird had just imprinted on Skip and would be nice to visitors in the store but was a hellion when someone tried to take it home. 10mo

Samplergal 31. Easily. I use my Luna bar wrappers A LOT for bookmarks. 1y
Mdargusch I‘ve never read all night but I check off all the rest. 1y
SleepyDragon 26 ... I don't always take a book unless I think I might have to sit or wait somewhere with nothing else to do. (For example, yes when going to pick my oldest up from school or an activity, no when I'm running to the store for milk. I do always have a prayer book in my purse, but I don't really count that.) 1y

#jb group
This is just a preliminary question about a possible meetup so I can gauge interested numbers. As time gets closer, it‘ll be more specified , with a google questionnaire .
Could you reply below, telling me if you‘d definitely be interested, maybe, or not possible ?
Would you want it just one weekend , or maybe a 4 day weekend ?
Location may be Ohio. Is that a possible trip for you ?
Would you like it solely book related or variety ?

Kaye *Reason I may choose Ohio. I know my way around here, know lots of neat bookstores, there‘s also a specific weekend that would be filled with book events and other local festivals and restaurants. I could arrange hotel rooms from here or we have a local Bed and Breakfast. I could arrange some other book related things of interest . I can‘t do that in an area I don‘t live in. Our library also has a meeting room we can use .I have LOTS of fun ideas (edited) 2y
jenniferw88 As I'm UK based, it's a no from me, but if it goes ahead, enjoy! 2y
knittedgnome I would definitely be interested in a Meetup in Ohio. I'm open to how long but am thinking maybe a weekend. 2y
See All 64 Comments
knittedgnome Or maybe arrive Friday and leave Sunday. 2y
Kaye Thanks for responding @jenniferw88 Sure wish we could include you guys, but I understand that‘s a long ways to come ! 2y
Kaye @knittedgnome. Sounds great. It‘d be good to meet you. I have so many really fun ideas. It‘ll take me awhile to put it all together but I‘ll do my best . 2y
vkois88 I wish I could, but it definitely won't be possible for me 😔 Have fun though! 2y
Kaye No problem @vkois88 . No pressure , just an idea I‘m kicking around. It may sink or swim. We shall see. 😊 2y
vkois88 If I didn't have Little One, I'd start saving now lol 2y
Kaye That‘s sorta why I‘m planning so far in advance so people could start saving. Some of the things will be low cost, but the rooms and food would be the most money. If you‘re able to arrange a sitter you‘d trust, that‘s an option too. I understand if you can‘t though. Totally ok. 👍🏼 @vkois88 (edited) 2y
LapReader I am a maybe. Keep me up to date please @Kaye 2y
MicrobeMom Maybe! Weekend would be best! Variety is good! 2y
Kaye That‘d be SO exciting if you could attend ! I‘d be thrilled to meet someone from your country. Could you bring photos, etc if you come ? And can you ask Bindi to come with you ? She‘s such a sweet little girl, I‘d like to meet her too. I‘ll keep everyone in the loop. As far as room costs, you guys could always double up to share a room if you‘re comfortable doing that ? It‘d split the cost in half. Thank you @LapReader 2y
Kaye Thanks @MicrobeMom , for your interest. I‘m hoping we can get this one going. I have so many fun things to do . It‘d be great. 2y
MidnightBookGirl I'm in Virginia so Ohio is totally doable! 2y
Kaye The more the merrier, @MidnightBookGirl . Any Litsy person is welcome, whether #jb or not. I have so many plans, I‘ve already started a huge list of things to do , etc. I think it‘d be loads of fun to meet some of you guys ! (edited) 2y
MidnightBookGirl @Kaye hahaha, I totally missed the #jb tag! 2y
Kaye No problem, this is a friendly group and we welcome anyone wanting to attend. It‘s not exclusive to only our group. @MidnightBookGirl (edited) 2y
MirrorMask Thanks for including non #jb members @Kaye I live in Ohio so that would be awesome. 2y
AmyG It would depend on when as I am travelling to Israel some time in June (?) 2019. 2y
Theshadedbuffalo I‘m interested! My in laws live in Ohio, so I could drop the kids with them over a weekend ifvthe timing works. 2y
Kaye @MirrorMask Of course you‘d be welcome ! Love to have you join us. 2y
Kaye @AmyG looking at September. That‘s when everything in our area has lots of events, book related and not. I have so many ideas it‘d be hard to fit them all into a weekend. 2y
Kaye @Theshadedbuffalo Sounds great ! That‘d be fun to meet you ! 2y
Soubhiville I‘m interested, but would have to be a maybe. Sounds fun! I think variety of bookish and non bookish things. 2y
Kaye Sounds great @Soubhiville It‘d be fun to meet you. Yep, at this point I have mostly bookish things but also tourist type things, some free, some low cost. Some unique restaurants, etc. I understand it‘s hard to commit to a definite answer so far ahead. This is just a guess as to how much interest there‘d be. 2y
tracey38 I'd be interested and with enough notice, Ohio would work. 2y
Kaye Great, @tracey38 The final plans would be complete a few months in advance. One place needs notice of how many on the tour. Others would need notice of how many tables needed. I‘m going to try drumming up some local people who could give us some interesting talks, so I‘d need to ask them ahead of time. I‘m sure they‘d all say yes. I‘m also going to talk to our librarian downtown. She‘s super enthused with reading and may have help with another 1 2y
RebelReader Count me in! I will travel anywhere and I‘ve only just driven through Ohio. I think 4 days would be a nice amount of time. I think bookish and a non bookish mix too. It would be a blast to meet people in person! 2y
Jas16 This sounds like fun but I am a maybe. I already have a lot of trips to see family I have committed to next year 2y
Kaye Thanks @RebelReader Would love to meet you guys too. It‘d be like a mini Book-Con, let‘s say. Trying my hardest to get another plan to work. Will see how it goes. I‘ve emailed this person before and if the group was big enough, he might come, which would be SO exciting. I‘m gonna beat the pavement, shoot the emails, and ask for some MERCH. You guys know me, if I do something , it needs done right. Keeping fingers crossed for some of this to work 2y
Kaye @Jas16 A maybe is good enough for now. Just so I have a sort of estimate. We will see how it goes. 2y
AmyG Sept sounds great. 2y
Wife I‘m interested. Would prefer 4 days. I‘m sure anything you plan will be great. And meeting more Littens will be fun. I need about 3 months notice to request time off work. 🌹 2y
Kaye Sounds wonderful @AmyG You and Misty were 2 of the first to make me feel so welcome here so I‘d love to meet you guys, along with as many others as can come. 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 2y
Kaye @Wife I used to plan our family reunion for 100 people for a whole weekend, so this will be a bit if the same sort of thing, only book related. I have too many ideas right now so need to pin them down a bit. 4 days would work best but I‘m trying to plan it out so ones who could only come for 1, 2, or 3 days would also have fun things. We‘d be hitting a new direction daily. 2y
AmyG I would absolutely love to meet you both, too!!! 2y
Kdgordon88 I am a definite maybe. September is great timing as far as work goes and I would LOVE to meet you and other Littens. 2y
Kaye @AmyG @Kdgordon88 Sounds great 👍🏼 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Kaye if I can get someone to come with me!! That‘s a 12 hour drive for me... ☺️🤔 2y
Kaye Would Amy be coming through your route ? Maybe you could stand at the roadside with your thumb out and she‘d let you hitch if she‘s driving. 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Kaye haha!! I bet she would fly ✈️ 2y
CouronneDhiver Ohio isn‘t that far for me... but I‘m also super cheap about my vacation time at work... so, a weekend thing (maybe like a 4-day weekend) would be best for me. 2y
Kaye Could be Misty. If she‘s like me she‘d drive. I‘m terrified of airplanes. 2y
Kaye Thanks @CouronneDhiver I‘ll keep working at it and see what I can get figured out time wise. I‘m hoping in a year it‘ll all fall into place for lots of the folks. That‘s a good amount of time to try saving money so we shall see. This right now is a distant plan. 2y
AmyG @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Do you need me to fly to you and drive with you to Ohio??? @Kaye I was going to fly. Too long of a drive for me and we only have one car. (edited) 2y
Kaye Oh, ok. Well, we have a long time to work through some of this. Maybe we‘ll get something figured out by then. It‘s a good thing it‘s over a year away. Plenty of time to save and prepare, get all the details straight, etc. @AmyG @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks 2y
AmyG @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks and I can Thelma and Louise it to Litsy Book Con! 👊🏻 2y
Kaye I didn‘t see that movie but didn‘t they go off a cliff together ? Better rewrite that part ! You guys would have a blast I bet since you‘re such good friends. @amyg (edited) 2y
AmberWB I‘m a maybe! 2y
Kaye Thanks @AmberWB I know it‘s hard to say for sure this far ahead. A maybe is fine for now. 2y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @AmyG no that‘s too much!!! So sweet of you though!! I will figure something out!! ❤️😘😘 2y
Trashcanman If I can convince my wife to vacation in Ohio I'll also buy a lotto ticket that day! What are the logistics, because that would be pretty cool. 2y
debthmpsn This sounds fantastic. I‘d be able to attend if the dates worked out 😁 2y
Kaye Sounds great @debthmpsn 😊. 2y
Kaye @TrashCanMan the odds depend on the day and how many tickets they sell. I don‘t buy them. It‘s a waste of money but if you come to Ohio for Litsy and you win while here, I get a small cut for getting you here in the first place. 2y
CareBear I‘m in if the dates work for me! 😊 2y
Ingerella I'm interested for sure. 2y
Kaye Thanks @carebear @ingerella. I‘m making a list of possibles, maybes, and unable. I understand this is always down the road so numbers can change so it won‘t be a final tally yet. 2y
Craftylikefox I‘m in if I can make it work, with work! It might be easier for me to do a weekend thing. 2y
Kaye Sounds great, Tabitha ! I‘d love to meet you. @Craftylikefox (edited) 2y
StephanieGeiser I am interested but it will depend on a lot of factors so put me down as a “maybe.” Ohio is do-able for me though. Great idea! 2y
Kaye Sounds great @StephanieGeiser . I think it‘ll be lots of fun. Getting more ideas and trying to come up with a do-able schedule so we have equal amounts of time for book related things plus a few other entertaining places / restaurants in our area. 2y

I could use your advice Littlens. If you were expecting a mug, would you be disappointed to get an owl teapot instead?

Kalalalatja It is adorable, but as @AmyG I‘m just really bad at using tea pots. And I would hate it if this cute pot just has to sit on a shelf unused. 2y
RealLifeReading Not at all! It's so cute! 2y
CocoReads So cute. I‘d love it even though I don‘t usually use pots either. 2y
LibrarianRyan Heck no. That's cool. 2y
cobwebmoth It's adorable! 2y
OrangeMooseReads I would be excited for that. 2y
Dolly It‘s a sweet teapot but my guess not everyone uses them. As a coffee drinker myself, mine is on my cabinet shelf, rarely seen.🙁 2y
CatLass007 Maybe if it were a cat instead of an owl. 2y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Adorable. I‘d use it! 2y
vlwelser Adorable. Everyone has a ton of mugs. But very few have an owl teapot. Or just keep it for yourself. That's probably the road I would end up on. 2y
merelybookish @CatLass007 Actually there was a cat one and it was cute too... But figured 🦉 was more appropriate for my swap. 2y
merelybookish @vlwelser That is the conclusion I'm trying to avoid. 🤷☺️ 2y

1. Fairly eclectic, but frequently character driven, lyrical, and/or British.
2. In what genre? ? I can't pick just one!
3. Anything with a Fabio on the cover or "shopaholic" in the title, and similar. But also poorly researched/written/edited books in whatever genre.
4. Ergodic maybe? Or more punk sub genres?
5. ? Let's go with 'Lair of the White Worm'. At least for this year. ? See #WormyBuddyread for details.

BrooklynBookGirl I like podcasts a lot, but I don't know if any that relate to books--so I couldn't answer quite a few of the questions. However; I think 30 minutes would be optimal with either a deep digestion of one text or a story map of the 30 min. block relating one topic to multiple books (a lá TAL). An accompanying website would be cool, but I think it would be better to have a strong Instagram and twitter presence. 2y

Jess7 Thanks @Christyco125 it is truly a #mustread - I started reading the physical book of it but finished it on audio book from my library after work yesterday. I laughed so much. It was so entertaining. I highly recommend (edited) 2y
KathyWheeler Oh my God, yes! The narrator's voice on Truly, Madly, Guilty drove me crazy. I had the same problem with the person who narrated Big Little Lies. 2y
Jess7 @KathyWheeler I think I must of read the physical book of Big Little Lies bc I don't remember having a bad narrator and I loved that book. However, the voice of the narrator for Truly, madly guilty was nails on a chalkboard bad lol ESPECIALLY when she attempted to change her voice to be different characters - omg when she tried to be the child Holly and whined - I thought I might lose it 😳😫🤣 2y

@MrBook and I came up with a 10-question survey, of which we'd be honored to have our #LitsyFamily provide input. ☺️ You are, bar none, the best group to help us, and we appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you! Here's the link to the SurveyMonkey poll 🙊🙉🙈
Thank you!!!! #BookTalk

CouronneDhiver 😶 I can't help... I don't even know what I podcast is... lol (i was raised around grandparents) 3y
Libby1 I'm in the same boat, @CouronneDhiver ! 😃 3y
ReadingRover I can't help much. I never listen to podcasts 😕. I spend all my time on audiobooks! 3y
See All 19 Comments
Texreader I don't listen to any now but may change that someday if I could make time. So I completed the survey in hopes one day I do start listening to book-related podcasts because I love the idea of it 3y
ReadingOver50 Don't listen to any. 3y
ReadingEnvy One suggestion- I think frequency doesn't have enough options... More than once a week, even once a week, could be an impossible schedule to stick to if you had other jobs and lives. Maybe ask how many times a month! 3y
BookNAround I listen to so many it was hard to answer! I'd be curious to see the results on people's three faves if you ever want to share that. 3y
WarpedSweetness I don't listen to any book podcasts, just ones about serial killers. I'm not sure that would be helpful? 3y
Clare-Dragonfly I'm with @WarpedSweetness! 😁 Though I actually listen to a lot of different kinds of podcasts. Too much true crime and I get stressed out. 3y
Gezemice I don't listen to any, either. 3y
drokka I'm another one that doesn't listen to podcasts. 3y
Karkar One of the turnoffs that was not listed but has kept me from listening to our podcasts is if I do not like the hosts voices or they have annoying habits that you can hear on the podcast 3y
mrsmarch I literally just sat down to try and find a good book podcast and couldn't. I subscribed to a couple of politics and news ones though. I'm new to podcast life and am currently not 100% committed. 3y
Trina_L "All the books" is a great podcast ! @mrsmarch ? I love podcasts but can't find one I like more than , all the books. 3y
Lindy I listen to quite a few book-related podcasts, so I had trouble limiting my favourites to 3. As far as drop day, there isn't a "doesn't matter" option, which I would have chosen. My app catches them and I listen to whichever whenever I am in the mood. 3y
Blaire I listen to lots of podcasts but not really any book related ones. 3y
mrsmarch @Trina_L I will give it a try! Now that I'm working from home full time, I want to try and "get in" to podcasts. Weekly release seems like it would be the best so I don't get bogged down. 3y
Trina_L It's co- hosted by liberty :) I hope you love it ! 3y
Bookboss I listen to many book-related podcasts! I love to listen while I run or do chores around the house. Sadly, my all time favorite, Books on the Nightstand, has stopped recording new episodes. 3y

CouronneDhiver 😶 I can't help... I don't even know what I podcast is... lol (i was raised around grandparents) 3y

@BookBabe and I are all set and ready to share our survey with you tomorrow 😁👍🏻! Just trying to figure out when is the optimal time to do so 🤔. Maybe in lieu of the bookish discussion question of the day, which happens around 5 pm EST? Please keep your 👀 open for the post! Your input is exceedingly valuable to us, and we deeply respect your thoughts. Thank you!!! ☺️

Don't forget, I think @BookBabe and I are on track to have that survey ready when Friday rolls around. Our #LitsyFamily's input will be the most valuable to us ☺️. Please keep your 👀 on the look-out! Thank you!

@BookBabe & I've been developing a bookish project over several months (well, a few, but we're close with this one in particular 😁), and we'll want input. I think on Friday we're going to have a poll up & running, probably on SurveyMonkey. Just wanted to give all of you fantastic Littens a head's up if you're interested in participating. The more the merrier, and the better for us in figuring things out. Keep your 👀 open! Thank you in advance!
