Pickpick

I was so bummed to not finish this in time during #CampLitsy and therefore was thrilled to see it on @monalyisha‘s #AuldLangSpine list; will now have to go back and read the discussion that I missed! I found this very emotionally engaging, and the writing had me vividly picturing characters, setting, and scenes throughout. Have the film rights to this been purchased? 🤔 Would be great on screen.

Christine And no, this doesn‘t take place in California. I just love my state. 2w
Suet624 I live in Vermont but love your state too. Have spent lovely sections of time there. 2w
monalyisha Disappearing Earth bowled me over. I was so excited/nervous for Bear — and so happy when I wasn‘t disappointed! 2w

My official reading stats for 2024

As of today, these 12 books are the ones I continue to think about the most. The top row includes #1001books, #LitsyBookClub reads, a #CampLitsy read, and 1 reread for a #ShardlakeBR. I tend to focus on first time reads for my year end list, but rereading the Shardlake series must be included. The bottom row are all fantastic middle grade reads.

Ruthiella Nice stats! 👍 1mo
Liz_M I loved the nesting stories technique of Cloud Atlas! 1mo
Daisey @Liz_M It took a while for me to get into, but by the end, I also loved how it was set up. 4w

tpixie Yes on The Postcard & Cloud Atlas. I checked out clear at the library, but had to return it before I read it. I can‘t remember how I learned about it, but maybe I need to get back to it since it made an impression on you. 5d
Daisey @tpixie It was a #CampLitsy read so there were lots of posts about it last summer. It‘s a slim novel, but pretty powerful, although just a warning that the end is somewhat abrupt. 4d
tpixie @Daisey thanks for the heads up 🩶 3d

#12DaysofChristmas

Read during #CampLitsy which added to the enjoyment of this book that didn‘t quite make my #Top24in24.

@Andrew65

My 2024 reading. Highlights for me were doing some deep dives for #FoodAndLit, reading all of the Station Eleven books in a row over a couples of weeks for #AuthorAMonth, reading around the world for #ReadingAfrica #ReadingAsia #ReadingTheAmericas and #ReadingOceania (none of which I have completed so I‘ll still be going in 2025), the hilarity of #HashtagBrigade, #CampLitsy, and numerous other challenges that have made my reading life so rich.

Librarybelle Excellent reading stats! 1mo

Beyond excited to dig into the amazing @monalyisha 's #AuldLangSpine list in the new year! I've read (and largely loved) 6.5 (didn't finish Bear during #CampLitsy due to time, not disinterest!), including the tagged, which I read because it was on @Deblovestoread 's #AuldLangSpine list for 2024! 🦈❤️ Quite a few others were already on my TBR. Feeling lucky with these titles to choose from!

BarbaraBB Such a great list! 1mo
Christine @BarbaraBB It really is! I love how she separated the fiction and non, too. 1mo
monalyisha I love your graphic! Any inclination about where you‘ll start? 1mo

Christine @monalyisha I‘m not sure!! I‘m kind of leaning toward your reread bonus pick because somehow I have not yet read Wintering despite intending to since it came out! Also considering The Comfort of Crows… 1mo
monalyisha I‘d definitely go with Wintering! It‘s back on the bestseller list, having its moment in the cold yet sparkling sunshine. It‘s my favorite on the nonfic list, followed by the two at the top of that section. I think I‘ll probably start with a fic pick from yours since I‘m scrambling to finish a nonfic book at the moment. 1mo
Christine @monalyisha Sold! I‘ll start with that and hope you find a novel that fits your mood on the list! 1mo
