What a lovely story of how so many peoples' lives are changed, in both big and small ways, by Nightingale Books, the little Bookshop in the town of Peasebrook. When Julius Nightingale passes away, his daughter Emelia comes back home and temporarily takes over his bookshop. Everyone in town stops by to make sure Emelia knows how much her father and his bookshop meant to them.

2.5/5⭐ Fine if you want something easy with a bit of a sad streak throughout. There are way too many POV characters, some of them still being introduced over halfway into the book. All the romances resolve with minimal friction and too simplistically.

Overall, it was sweet story. There were a lot of characters, and as there was only one narrator, it was hard to follow who was talking. That being said, I was still able to follow the story well enough, and everything I wanted to happen happened, although some of the romance felt very out of the blue or lacked chemistry. I enjoyed it, but I cannot ever see myself listening to it or reading it again.

This book has the perfect setting: A bookstore. Emily returns home to Peasebrook after her father‘s death, the owner of the bookstore. Now she needs to find out what she wants to do. But Emily isn‘t the only person facing change at this time; there‘s the teacher who‘s started a restaurant, there‘s the lady of the manor and her daughter, there‘s the developer who wants to buy the bookstore.

When Emily‘s father passed away, she decides to take over Nightingale Books, the bookstore her father owned and she grew up in. But her father had some secrets, not the least of which was the financial situation of the shop. When a land developer comes sniffing around, Emily decides she needs to make changes to keep the store open.
The customers rally to save the store and embody the many kinds of love there are.

Sweet and sad in spots, this was a quiet story of love, grief, and redemption. I liked the various stories and how they intertwined. Parts of had a really slow pace that made me a little crazy (just talk to each other for God‘s sake!) but I enjoyed it overall. The food descriptions were amazing and made my mouth water. #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks

So Wednesday was hard and I‘m still battling a lot of negative self talk. I did not get the job despite being the most qualified by a lot. My personality is too much essentially. So I went to the library book sale on lunch and got all these plus one more for $3! I didn‘t hVe time to read backs so I chose based on titles, known authors, and genre (Xmas). What a good deal!

An absolutely delightful romance set in a bookshop with lovely characters. It would make an amazing Love, Actually type movie without all the dated tropes. Perfect read February/Valentine‘s Day

Beautiful cozy story. Lovable characters. Love in a lovely place. Read it!

Halfway through. It‘s a quiet, meandering story about a village where the bookshop owner has just died and how the people whose lives he was part of, including his daughter, carry on. He made time to make their lives richer and believed there a book for everybody. Told with some flashbacks.

I loved this beautiful, gentle story. It‘s an easy read, in the best sense. A beautiful setting, relatable characters, and various plot lines that all come together in the bookshop. It was just the book I needed to read.

You know those books where you finish and you‘re just sad because you want to stay with the characters, the setting, the story? This was one of those for me! I stumbled upon it in my local library while looking for books by an author with same last name, and I am so glad I did! It was just lovely.

This was charming! I liked all the characters (except one or two side characters we're not supposed to like) and I was so in need of a book with multiple happy endings so this really filled the bill!

Another book chosen for a book challenge, the How To category! I loved all of the characters and how they were woven around each other. I‘ve dreamed of owning a bookshop and this book made me want it even more. Book #60 in 2021

This is a sweet, simple book. It can be a bit cheesy, but it will soothe your soul. Grab this book if you like romance novels, books about books, and/or need an easy, predictable read.

After a long day of troubleshooting issues with an event i am planning, this was a welcome way to decompress.

Went to my favorite bookstore in the city. Walked out with some new books. My TBR and CR shelf is a bit ridiculous, and I love it.

Couldn‘t remember if I‘d read already, so I read it again. So lovely (how could I have forgotten!)

I‘ve read 3 similar versions of this book and I‘ve enjoyed them all.

This was the delightfully soothing balm my soul needed this week. Sure it‘s a bit twee but I really did not care. I want to live in the fictional town of Peasebrook forever. Genuinely heartwarming.

My only issue with this book is I would have liked to focus in on some of the characters more but overall I really enjoyed it! Especially Emilia‘s journey with her father‘s bookshop!

There were so many little stories all woven around this quaint little bookstore. I really enjoyed reading how the shop owner touched so many lives in community.

Finished! A really enjoyable book. It‘s not literary fiction and it doesn‘t need to be. The strands were perhaps a bit *too* neatly wrapped up in the end, and the Alice strand was . . . 🤔, but all in all it was just what I needed. Now I need to choose to finish the Peter May (love his books) or pick another from one of my stacks. Maybe the Wallis.

Still really enjoying this book. Many threads, and while I‘m reasonably sure we‘ll have a happy ending, the characters are appealing and the setting is lovely. A bookshop in the Cotswolds? I mean. Having a cup of tea and watching some classic tennis. Vamos Rafa! #QuarantineReads
