It was the cover that I had to have! The story of a loving and complicated Italian American family takes place in Philadelphia, Italy and New York soon after World War II. Love this excerpt from a review from USA Today, “But at a time when crass seems to trump class in popular culture, Kiss Carlo may be just what we need, a warmhearted romp that‘s a welcome escape from novels about girls who are gone/on a train/tattooed.”
I saw this large tent in a neighbor‘s yard while on my #audiowalk yesterday morning. Wondering if it was for a wedding? #bfc #bookfitnesschallenge
Very muggy #audiowalk. Still recovering, so my walk was a short one. Some flowers from our garden. #bfc #bookfitnesschallenge
I have been nursing a cold/flu and regretfully am behind on this week‘s #bfc. Forced myself to go for a short walk today, and snapped some neighbors‘ lawns. #bookfitnesschallenge
Tonight I met Adriana Trigiani and it was magical. She is super inspiring. One of the best author events I have ever been to. She talked for an hour and a half, answered questions, and then signed books. I must have spent at least ten minutes talking with her, she really deeply cares about her readers. We even talked about the book I'm writing and she was super supportive! And she gave me a big hug! I will never forget this incredible evening. 💕
My library is hosting an event with author Adriana Trigiani early next month! She'll be speaking and doing a book signing after. I got my tickets already! Whooo! 😍💕 #librarylove
Adriana Trigiani has become one of my favorite writers 💗 She has such a talent for writing beautiful tales that incorporate family, love, and humor 😍
My reward for getting through ‘Don Quixote‘ 🤣 Still enjoying it, but hitting the wall. Hopefully seeing this beauty on my shelf will keep me pushing through LOL #readersproblems
I rarely buy books full price, especially hardcovers. So I was hoping that this one would show up in the Barnes and Noble bargain books, and it finally did! I love Adriana Trigiani!
I love family sagas and Adriana Trigiani is a master at them. She writes of love, loyalty, conflict, secrets, and trust. Read my full review at www.facebook.com/groups/ReadingisMyPassion
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were great. The plot maybe wasn't perfectly executed, but it was still a good story.
First book for #litsyatoz : Letter K
I think the extra cold weather here is making everyone a little batty - I had to deal with crazies at both jobs this week. The perils of working with the public I guess. Now I'm just going to hide at home with the cat and a book, neither of which will yell at me (unless the cat's food dish gets empty).
I think this is the only acceptable way to spend a bitterly cold winter afternoon. The only thing missing is the cat. Now if I could only find a way to do this every day until March and never have to go outside in the cold. ☕📚❄️
Next up! The cover is so gorgeous, it threw itself into my hands at the bookstore.
This book was all over the place at times and could be a little scattered but overall I really enjoyed Nicky‘s lengthy story.
I love this! I do have so much to do this weekend but I have the morning to read! But that may be it. 😭 I have to have a free weekend soon. I am exhausted.
Tropical storm warning and a Monday off means cake for breakfast and books all day. Luckily, the storm seems to not be as bad as feared.
Starting this book now. What a gorgeous cover!
#Bleeckersays tonight's #bookandwinepairing 📚🍷 is Kiss Carlo with another Italian wine, this one a white. Another great selection by #theraleighwineshop 2016 Li Veli 'Contrade' Bianco from Apulia, Italy..
#Bleeckersays he likes it because it says Puglia on the bottle #pugsoflitsy
It's "Take Your Book to Work Day." Carlo is all strapped in and ready to roll I've read every book written by Trigiani and she never fails to tell a fantastic story.
For tonight's #bookandwinepairing📚🍷, Kiss Carlo and a lovely 2016 Paolo Petrilli 'Motta del Lupo' Rossi from Cacc'e Mmitte di Lucera, Apulia, Italy.
Very drinkable wine which, based on what I've heard, should pair well with this book.
#TBRtemptation post 3! The multi-generational story of an Italian-American family stretching from Italy to Philly & NYC during the golden age of tv. Nicky must decide if he wants to continue the conventional life his family has laid out for him, or to pursue his personal passion of working at the Shakespearean thespian. With Shakespeare's comedies as a narrative backdrop, a story of familial love and personal identity. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
Disappointing! I loved The Shoemaker's Wife and really enjoyed Very Valentine but no other book I've read by this author holds the same charm as those. This had a promising start: I love the cover and the premise. Unfortunately I didn't come to care about any of the characters--except Hortense Mooney. She came alive on the page and her story was a delight to read. I wish the others were as well drawn or the book focused more on her story.
Loved this! Another example of Trigiani's fun and lovely writing. Her stories are so rich with detail and her writing so evocative of the time periods she writes about. And every time I read one of her books I feel like I am right there in the midst of the big Italian families she creates. Wonderful...
Seeing the AWESOME Adriana Trigiani tonight with one of my besties!
I just finished this beauty last night! It was exactly what I wanted right now! Something summer light! Loved the Italian family aspect of it! Nicky figuring out that no matter what, his family will always be there for him! Great summer read, check it out!!
I'm buying this because I need to free this woman of the sticker on her face!
Still loving this story. Had to go do some research to refresh my memory about the characteristics of Shakespearean comedies (it's been a long time since my English literature days in college). Trigiani is definitely incorporating these elements into the story:
-a struggle of young lovers to overcome problems, interference of elders
-separation and reunification
-mistaken identity/disguise
-a clever servant
-family tensions
-complex plot-lines ⬇
This cover seemed like a good match with the blowsy blush peony in the garden. I hope the cover reflects the insides!
Reloading my Little Free Library. Sadly, I don't have a lot of visitors. I feel like my neighbors just don't know what they are missing.

I got called into work today, a coworker had food poisoning! Poor girl!! I started off my day in the most enjoyable way, reading my book! It was hard to pull myself away! Good news is I'm off tomorrow so I can read some more!! Yippee!!!
4th of July reading #books #tlcbooktours #adrianatrigiani #kisscarlo
I always forget how much I enjoy Adriana Trigiani's writing. She manages to completely immerse me in the world she creates. She has me looking places up on Google maps, searching for definitions of terms, researching people and events from the time period, and wanting to read more Shakespeare, in the case of this book. Her descriptions are amazingly detailed and her dialogues are both snappy and poignant in turn. I am enthralled...
Starting these two books next... The Kiss Carlo which I have already posted a photo of showing its gorgeous cover ( but look at these lovely end papers!!) and The Summer Book for the #JanssonBuddyRead I'm attempting to join in on. So excited for both of these!
Happy birthday to my beautiful country and happy Canada day to all of you! We're looking great for 150!!!
Can't believe we are half way through 2017.... read some great books this month.. Finally read Beloved and Underground Railroad. I also read Standard Deviation and Saints for All Occasions. Good month #readingstats #junestats
Love it when Adriana returns to her roots. Italian-American families, a little rocky romance, theater, and food! Totally enjoyable—funny, emotional, great characters, and I love the post WWII time period and Philly setting. @HarperBooks @HarperCollins
🍭🍭🍭🍭🍭 love the cover!!! I am not going to give anything away…and I soooooo want to. There is a lot of Italian, Shakespeare, love, food and impersonations. Yes…impersonations.
