Book 2 read on September 2024

I have mixed feelings with this novel. Six classmates were invited for a dinner in honor to receive a scholarship. But then they are trapped in this place with three objects and a message indicating to pick someone to die.

I liked the premise and all the action in that closed room and I liked the ending. Sad the motive behind the action, sad that ending. But what I question is how everything was planned.⬇️

Book 1 read on. September 2024 😳

I can understand why some readers don‘t like the story, maybe the “why” people disappeared from this village, but in my case, I was interested in the mystery of this disappearance. It reminded me at some point Abandon by Blake Crouch. This novel has many similar elements to that novel. Like Abandon, years later someone goes to the place, in this case, a filmmaker to do a documentary about the place. ⬇️

Unpopular opinion. I have a couple of books by this author and I don‘t think she will be a favorite author for me😬🤷🏽‍♀️I didn‘t like this story of pretending to be with your ex just because…what???? Please, I couldn‘t understand that. So immature not to be honest with yourself and your friends. Not for me, sorry for this author fans. I‘m a grinch 💚I know😂2⭐️

Book 7 read last August (first books were posted already)

A mystery with a touch of paranormal experience. Ethan and Billy, both 10 years old, neighbors used to camp in Ethan‘s house backyard. Next day, Billy disappeared and Ethan can‘t remember what happened. Ethan returned to his hometown 30 years later and he will face Billy‘s disappearance circumstances, his guilt, grief and the truth behind Billy‘s disappearance. ⬇️

A very very late post but I‘m trying to close 2024 with books I read but didn‘t post🤷🏽‍♀️

Read last August and I loved it. Pure family drama as this author does so well. Penelope‘s life story just captivated me. Her relationship with her daughters and son, her marriage, lover, her golden years. How much she transcended in her life. That ending…I didn‘t bother de 500 pages, not all. But I confess, I like family drama😂4/4.5⭐️

Book 8 read this month. Short novella (96 pages). Two time lines: past, Ashley Smith, an American student, her experiences when was invited by a college “friend” Emma Chapman‘s, to spend Christmas at her house. There Ashley will fall in love and will know about a crime recently committed in the area. Present time, Ashley diary is read by someone. How these 2 time lines are connected?
I really liked the twists that occurred here. ⬇️

Book 7 read this month. Unpopular opinion. There were parts I really liked in this story, friendship and the relationship between Nicholas and Kris. The romance was cute but I think Nicholas was too dramatic in some parts. Didn‘t like much the plot. Maybe I was expecting too much from this novel. Didn‘t like much as I expected. But maybe I will try book 2?🤷🏽‍♀️2.5/3⭐️

Book 6 read on December. What was this?? 😳I watched the movie, the old one, long time ago but this is the first time I read the book. As always Mr. King described so well the characters and the atmosphere. It was like watching everything, so dysfunctional, pathological, macabre, horrid. Do you think there are fans like that out there?🤔🫣😟

Book 5 read this month. I really enjoyed this rom-com mystery. I didn‘t expect to like it and not with that retro cover☺️But it has mystery, romance, and it‘s funny. This was the most perfect rom-com crime mystery of the year😂🎄Maybe my Grinch heart 💚 felt something☺️ 3.8⭐️

Book 4 read during month of December and 3rd book in the #Dream Harbors series. A new character but story is developed in the same setting which means you will see characters from books one and two. From the three books, I enjoyed this story more than the previous books. XcccvIt was funny even though I still think that spicy scenes could be cheesy. I love these covers 3⭐️

I didn‘t know this was a Christian fiction book which is not my thing.😳I just loved the cover🤷🏽‍♀️There are four short stories were as always I liked some of them (2) more than others. All of them related with holiday. However, this book has strong religious content for my taste so nothing wrong with it but I didn‘t like it as much as you can imagine. But I think some persons could find it okay or good. It‘s just that it is not my taste 3⭐️

Last book in this trilogy. I really enjoyed it and I will these characters. It‘s a historical fiction/cozy mystery with interesting characters and even Arthur Conan Doyle is amongst those characters. 3.8⭐️

This is like a memoir. I was fascinated on information about women who decided to stay single on those times where that decision was not well accepted. So well documented and my admiration for that big step👏These history facts were explained by the author to point out why she decided to stay single⬇️

Best books this month: House Of Shadows and The Impossible Girl

Last book completed in October. I think what I enjoyed more was Watson relationship with Miss Morstan (no spoilers So sad to see Holmes in drug dependence. Those first pages were hard because no one like to see another human being in that trap, sick world. As expected, Holmes will solve the mystery by using a deduction method. 3/3.5⭐️

Cute middle grade graphic novel. The interaction between these characters is cute. I think novel will be a good resource to discussed different topics with the young ones, like the expression and management of different emotions, friendship, how to resolve conflict etc. I know the palette of colors could be described as one that is in accordance to autumn season but I think is a little too dark to appreciate some detail 3/3.5⭐️

A graphic novel about a romance between a vampire and a warewolf. It has some peculiar phrases to describe the nature of their relationship which could be funny. The illustrations are simple but straight to the message.
This graphic novel has high ration in GR. I don‘t know how to rate graphic novels🤷🏽‍♀️ 3 ⭐️

I really enjoyed this story it has mystery, suspense, romance, drama. Manhattan 1850. Cora Lee is a resurrectionists which means she sells for high price, bodies with strange anomalies to anatomists who will exhibit the bodies to the public. But too many people is dying, do they die for natural causes? And now, Cora also has a price since she is the impossible girl with two hearts.

It was good. It took me 6 years to read this story. 🔽

This book was so recommended by many YouTubers that I follow. I wanted to read it, thinking it would be something like “In My Hands I Hold A Knife” which I enjoyed so much. But this one was so unrealistic the way the killer acts at least didn‘t grab me. Small place too many coincidences and that love story at the end?😬Nope, It wasn‘t for me 🤷🏽‍♀️ 3⭐️

🙁Didn‘t love it. The story began well, liked the mystery of what was going on, spooky in the middle but then that paranormal thing appeared (not spoiler) It was for me even ridiculous🤷🏽‍♀️Again, my fault for expecting too much. 3⭐️

October was not a good reading month for me. Sorry, this is another unpopular opinion. Don‘t shoot me. I found the story not cute enough for me. Found it even boring in some parts. I guess the problem with me is that I expect too much when the book is so hyped. Let‘s say nothing is wrong with the book, just that it is not for me. Maybe if I re-read it later I can forget this

Unpopular opinion. I wanted to like this book. I was so excited to read it when I received it in my #Staycation package but definitely it didn‘t work for me😬So repetitive, how many times he said was a slasher? That he shouldn‘t go to that party? and if you forget, it happened in 1989, this was mentioned over and over. So many unnecessary details🙄 rambling story🤦🏽‍♀️I almost DNF. I should sympathize with the character? I was bored 2⭐️

Inspired by author‘s great grandmother Edie and her twin violet who author discovered were “avid spiritualists and regularly conducted séances”. I enjoyed most parts of this story and the mystery of what was happening with medium women disappearances. Not everyone liked the romance here but I enjoyed it. But it was okay not great executed story for me🤷🏽‍♀️Predictable in some areas. 3⭐️It has higher rating in GR.

I thought I would like this more. The premise is good, enjoyed the beginning but I don‘t know, I didn‘t like the execution and didn‘t connect with the characters. But I still liked the story🤷🏽‍♀️ 2.5/3⭐️

I enjoyed this book...well I enjoy very much Darcy Coates novels because they are so atmospheric. Not horror more mystery and suspense and they are slow pace. 3.8 ⭐️
