pickThis book kind of snuck up on me. There is a lot going on in it. There were parts that I was not enjoying and were kind of a mess (mainly the Em/Emily parts in the past), and then I‘d find myself smiling or laughing out loud (very heartfelt parts relating to Lucy and hilarious parenting parts). It‘s a low pick, but the love of New York pushed it over. #LitsyToB24

Picked this up on a whim because I saw it on somebody‘s 2023 favorites. It‘s a sweet romance about two hikers who fall in love while hiking from Mexico to Canada on the PCT. But more surprisingly, it‘s a study in grief and the importance of found family and packs quite a gut punch in several moments. Definitely brought some tears to my eyes several times.
pickFinally getting started on my #LitsyToB24 reading list, and what an excellent start it was! I really loved this book! And I don‘t know that I would have picked it up without the ToB. So thank you ladies! I loved these characters and the whole story. It just had so much heart, and was still a whole lot of fun!
pickI adore S.A. Cosby‘s writing & love the way Adam Lazarre-White narrates it. Both previous reads of his were 5 stars for me, so I was excited to find this at a used bookstore in Denton. I know it‘s some people‘s favorite. I didn‘t love it as much as Razorblade Tears or All the Sinners Bleed, but it was still really good!
Spent the day at the cancer center with my mom. Came home to a quiet house & book mail that I‘m using as an escape from heartache. I‘ve been looking so forward to the 2nd book in this series. So today it gets my thankfulness! And also the unintended color coordination with a much needed glass of wine.

I really, really loved this book! I‘m so very thankful that I picked it up when the sequel comes out next month. So glad I don‘t have to wait long for it. I‘m not usually much of a fantasy reader in years past, but I sure am enjoying dipping my toes into these waters. Especially the magical, gothic fantasy of this book. And the romance. I‘m here for it all! Definitely excited for the next!
Woke up feeling spooky this morning. And also missing my kiddo. So #cozymystery time & coffee in my favorite mug from her. Hopefully I can enjoy a day full of this right here.

Listening while sitting with my momma as she napped today. Got some devastating news from the oncologist yesterday. Stage 4 Merkel Cell Carcinoma. We are waiting on further tests to see how we proceed.
As tragic as Cosby‘s stories are, there is something so comforting in the quiet strength of his characters. And Adam Lazarre-White‘s narration is always amazing. I don‘t think there‘s anything that Cosby will write from now on that I won‘t read!

When I read this book at the end of July, I was almost completely unaware of the hype (yep it is comfortable under this rock where I live 😝). I guess I payed no attention since it is fantasy, and not my typical genre. But man, did I love this book. Some say over-hyped, but anything ⬇️
Fall is almost here! 🍁 But we‘ve still got a little summer left here in OK. Excited for cooler temps and football, but not for darker evenings. 🌅 Less time for reading outdoors after work makes me sad, but it‘s a trade off for less sweating and less mosquitos & flies. This was a Litsy pick a few months back from @ravenlee and I‘ve been meaning to pick it up from the library since then. Excited to start it tonight!

I loved the non-romance parts of the story more than the romance. The banter, humor, racial identity, family, and heart were all a plus. The romance was just ok for me. 3.5 stars. Life has been pretty tough lately. Lots of life events that have been hard. But I celebrated my 22nd Anniversary with my husband yesterday, and this book was in our B&B. I think I needed these words.
I think I‘m in the minority right now, but I am actually full on liking this book. I think I‘m a sucker for pandemic stories for some reason. I know for a fact I‘m a sucker for animal stories. So grateful to #camplitsy23 for bringing some books into my life this summer that I know I wouldn‘t have read without it!
pickSpent most of the day audio-cleaning to this super cute, feel good romance. Finishing up outside now that the sun is starting to set & it‘s cooling down just a little. I thoroughly enjoyed this (also LOVE Julia Whelan narrated books) and I kinda had a goofy smile on my face like almost the whole time. If you‘re in the mood for love, I definitely recommend.

We returned from Maui a week ago today. It was our first trip to any of the Hawaiian islands, and beautiful West Maui welcomed us with open arms. We fell in love. Lahaina Town just took our breath away. It has taken me since Wednesday morning to figure out a way to post. I have just been in tears daily as I watch the stories of the devastation of this beautiful place, that we just left, unfold. ⬇️

Not necessarily a “beach read” but this line had me all up in my feels for Demon & his desire to see the ocean. It‘s so true! Also, the author note in this “An Ethereal Visit” was so heartfelt! ❤️❤️

This was cute, but did get a little eye-roll-ie saccharine towards the end. I know, I know…it‘s a freaking romance! Still, it was a little much for me. Like, not love, on this one.
pickHad to finish this #camplitsy23 pick early because my hold came in at the library and I was afraid if I skipped it wouldn‘t come back around in time. Plus vacay at the beginning of august might interfere. But I REALLY LOVED this book! I enjoyed the beginning (it grabbed me from the start) and all the TNO banter, but the 2nd part in the throes of the pandemic had so much heart! 💞 The epistolary part & the irl part were so great! I was quite teary!
pickRoad trip to my daughter‘s college orientation gave me time to finish this #camplitsy23 read. I really enjoyed this book. It is extremely readable/listenable. Even though all the characters are unlikable and have so many 🚩🚩🚩 I was still engrossed by their lives & in a way sympathetic to some of their plights. Plus, I really enjoy the way Kuang writes. Great Camp Litsy choice & I can‘t wait for the 2nd discussion!

pickI LOVED this book! 📚🕰️🏝️ After starting & setting it aside a few weeks ago, I picked it back up today & didn‘t want to put it down! As a sort of re-telling of one of my husband‘s favorite book/movie (Charlie/Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory) it was just magical & full of young-at-heart glee. Loved the characters & totally teared up multiple times! 💕
There were so many emotions that this book brought me, took me down the rabbit hole of the juxtaposition of white artists wanting the soulful black sound as backup on their records all while taking the credit as front men, or still flying their confederate flags and singing their southern rock anthems. Merry Clayton added her beautiful vocals and epic scream to one of the most famous rock songs-The Rolling Stones‘ Gimme Shelter. ⬇️⬇️

This one is due back at the library, and it‘s sweltering outside, but I‘m trying to find the energy to finally finish this series. I couldn‘t really root for any of the characters to be the one to come out on top. I didn‘t really like the ending. It just left me overall dissatisfied. But it was interesting, well written, and kept a good pace. So… 🤷🏻♀️
