Normally I keep a list of books I‘ve read for the year, I wasn‘t really keeping track this year but I just wrote this up. I normally set goals & try to surpass the previous year‘s goal, but this year I decided not to take it so seriously. There‘s been too much going on. I just wanted to read as much as I was able. I read 25 last year, & so far I‘ve read 15 this year. Definitely slower but better than I expected. Making a dent in the TBR pile lol.

I spent what some people in my house deem an unreasonable amount of time getting my stack for #14books14weeks2021. I‘ve pulled a mix of books I‘m really excited for, a few I‘m disappointed I haven‘t gotten around to picking up yet & a handful from my Sweet Reads box from last year that I still haven‘t read.

So excited @TheHeartlandBookFairy is hosting this again. It‘s my favourite summer challenge, even if I‘ve never managed to finish on time 🤪

Avanders Funny, you have once of each, above 😁 For what it‘s worth, I read and enjoyed the Caine one — it‘s a slightly more meaty YA series set around this concept of books as both vice and as priceless collectibles (but, *not* everyday home-items). I have read… 2 of the series I think. I started before it was done, so I‘ve been sidetracked 😜 I‘d say it‘s definitely good, and fun. But a “must read”? Maybe not… I gave it a solid 4 ⭐️ I think :) 3y

My library does this cool thing where they offer educators (including homeschoolers like me) first crack at the weeded books. I just happened to be there this morning and got first dibs! I went through about half before giving up and bringing the kiddo home, but got most of a box (no idea where they‘ll fit). Better pics to come. Nice way to start a Monday!

marleed Nice - I love free books or deeply discounted library books. Funny thing I actually spend more on new books because of my extensive thrifted books - it‘s seems only right to support new books and Bookstores, as well. I also donate or give away more of my books because I‘m not the original owner of every book I own. 3y

I‘m having one of those days where my depression is obsessed with the fact that there will always be more books that I want to read than I have time to read. I‘m a little weepy and doomscrolling libby.

(Preeeetty sure this is my brain‘s way of handling election anxiety...oh god I just need it to be over already)

Anyways, I might bump my GR goal to 250?? That would essentially mean a book a day for the rest of the year...

LiteraryinLawrence I totally hear you with spiraling thoughts. Probably election related (and just 2020 related) even though the thoughts themselves are not about the election. Hang in there! I have found that there is a sweet spot with my reading. If I go for too much quantity, I lose some of the quality because I'm just looking to finish books. Even if we somehow had time to read all the books, we couldn't possibly enjoy them. Read what you can? 3y

Yikes. This result is...not great. Working on my TBR this year is my biggest priority. I hope I can make a decent dent in the piles, ideally I‘d like to get it down by half. That‘s probably hoping for too much, but if I can chip away a little every week and keep reading what I own, maybe it‘s a possibility?

BookNAround Last time I checked mine, a couple of years ago (and of course I‘ve added more books to the stacks since then), it told me I‘d be in my 80s before I finished what I already had. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y

I bought this bookish necklace from www.zulily.com. It‘s so cool. I also saw some earrings on there that say this too. I‘m going to buy them to match this necklace. This necklace says,”So many books, so little time”. This was my first purchase from this website. They have so many things on this website. I got this necklace at a low price too and they gave me a jewelry bag to keep the necklace in.

Lately, reading has felt like a chore. I blame the pevelance of reading challenges and trackers and myself for acquiring too many books 🤣. I'm working on a strategy that will help me plan my reading but will also feel like reading at whim. I'm making a numbered list of categories and each month I'll use a RNG to choose 4-5 categories. Then I'll read books I already own to fit the categories. Do the #littens have any category suggestions?

Bradleygirl this is pretty genius! I'd put “comedic“ in there to lighten up my load (lots of other categories are also comedic, so it gives some leeway in choice) 5y

MarkoPDX I occasionally like to read travelogues. I will be interested to see how this plays out for you. I quit doing reading challenges. I'm getting burned out on one of my two book groups. I don't feel like I'm reading for fun anymore. 5y

Curiouser_and_curiouser Me too! I prefer to buy second hand books to avoid the reserving, borrowing, reborrowing returning, only to have to reserve or borrow again if its taking me a while to finish. You are (or will have to be) a quick reader! Very ambitious :) 5y
