Week 6 final check-in for #BFCr4:
This seemed like a good quote, something many of us struggle with.
Exercise—I have not hit my goals in this six weeks, but I have made an effort. Adjustment in work routine & other obligations have been a factor. I also need to make it more of a priority. I exercised 2 times this week. I did join the gym, so hopefully, the incentive of wasting money will motivate me.
17/10 books @wanderinglynn Thank you Lynn!

wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌🏻 And great quote. Making an effort, taking a step is often the hardest part. So great job! 💜 3d

Final check-in for #bookfitnesschallenge #BFCR4! I‘m finishing out the challenge strong with my highest average steps of all 6 weeks.🙌🏼This round of #BFC has been about giving myself credit for habits I‘ve built/things I‘m already doing. I‘m broadening my view of what “counts”—recognizing activities that are in place & building on those instead of adding too much extra stuff. Thank you to @wanderinglynn and my awesome #runningonreading team!

#BFCr4 final check-in. This round was hard for me. My mental health wasn‘t in a good place and my habits suffered hugely because of it. But @Hestapleton @StayCurious @Hufflepuffle were really there for me, so thank you ladies! I would never have made it this far alone, and while I don‘t have any positive stats to boast of this week, I still feel good about making positive changes going forward.

Week6 #BFCr4
I loved this round - working toward a Fitbit-free day was a success, and I earned a free Saturday for 6 consecutive weeks by reaching my goal by Friday night, walking over 233 miles and finishing 29 books.

Fitness weekly Goal 35 miles: 40.03 miles/93,455 steps.
Book total goal of 27 books with the priority of 18:9 (2:1) library:personally owned. I finished at 29, 19:11.

Thank you @Wanderinglynn. Card is on the way!

marleed There are 7 LFLs I walk by (and support) on my daily walk. This one is my favorite to look at because the back is a beautiful as the front - and it is weathered to perfection! 5d

Another good #bookfitnesschallenge week for #BFCR4! I‘ve been mostly hitting my goals, with just a couple days missed here and there. I finally got back to the gym this week, which felt good. And another pseudo-fitness-related plus: I won a $50 gift card at the wellness fair at work! 🎉

Hey team! #bfcr4

I‘ve had some up and down weeks and happy to finally report an up week! I‘ve got back into meditation, done lots of reading, been to gym once and yoga once and been broadly eating in a way im very proud of - lots of getting my five a day. The last two days I‘ve been visiting family so have clearly eaten only mainly ice cream and sausages - exactly as it should be!

I really wanted to have a week where I meditated all 7 days which hasn‘t happened yet this round. (Maybe week 6 is my week). But week 5 was good. Got a ton of housework done which was great for my mental health! Struggling with eating choices right now, cause I‘m sick which limits my options. So I‘m going to ponder how to make the best of that while taking it easy next week. @wanderinglynn @Hestapleton @StayCurious @Hufflepuffle

Here,s a unique privacy fence I walk past. The flowers change with the seasons. I don‘t know why I‘m obsessed with the two missing gourds.

marleed @BookNerd9906 In previous challenges I kept trying to best my steps every week and kind of burned myself out. So this time I decided to set a goal of 35 miles minimum and 40 max. It was a great week for the #BookFitnessChallenge #BFCR4! I missed my gym day due to SoCal wildfires—not close enough to be a threat, but close enough to shut down a freeway near work. I took my boss‘s advice to leave early before traffic got re-routed to side streets—which kept my drive time from being doubled, but also kept me from the gym (which is at work). But I‘m happy with my progress—getting consistent in all three areas! #runningonreading

I‘ve had a cold, not the worst ever, but I‘ve felt gross, been comfort eating and not working out. When it gets cold I start feeling very guilty about food 😕 there‘s so much pressure about ‘temptation‘ and ‘treats‘! I‘m trying to be healthy and intuitive about food but a cold means I only think about chips, comforting but potentially not balanced. Upside, piles of reading.

Emilymdxn Im counting the two and a half hours of walking I did today as one of my workouts cause it definitely felt like a workout! I texted my fitness guru friend who‘s a weightlifting girlboss and she said walking that much counted to her so I‘m counting it. 3w

After setting my new goals I had a good week! I didn‘t miss any meds doses, and only missed 2 mediations. I didn‘t get much reading done this week, but I realized that between scarathlon and 24b4monday I‘ve actually read 9 books since #BFCr4 started, so I‘m just going to try to read a little every day and be relaxed about it. Next week my goal is to miss NO mediations.

Googled a pic of Fall in KY.
Week 4 check-in for #BFCr4: I went to yoga 1 day this week but due to a lot of rain/wind/cold & getting dark earlier, I didn‘t get any walks in. I don‘t enjoy walking outside once it‘s below about 60. My goal for today is to go sign up for a gym in my town. I haven‘t ever joined a gym, but this one is very affordable & I have friends who go to it. Tried to moderate the Fall treats. 12/10 books @wanderinglynn

Megabooks Definitely looks like fall in central Kentucky! 3w

I missed my check in this week and realized I‘m behind on every goal I‘ve set except reading. I‘ve been depressed and overwhelmed lately and it‘s been making me shut down and accomplish nothing. Since I can‘t seem to find my way through this, I‘ve decided to pare back my goals to the basics. The thing I accomplished in earlier rounds that is MOST important to me was getting into a daily meditation practice, so my new goals are ⬇️

IndoorDame 1. Daily meditation
2. No missed medication doses
3. Read 6 books
3w
Hestapleton Oh hi, I‘ve been the SAME WAY. I‘m sorry you aren‘t feeling great, but glad you parsed down to your goals to focus on the basics! 3w

wanderinglynn Awesome job adapting your goals. 🙌🏻 The important thing is you‘re not giving up. 💜 One step, one day at a time. Maybe also focus on some self-care—when I‘m feeling overwhelmed, I do gratitude journaling where I jot down 1-3 things each day that I‘m thankful for or that went well or just made me smile. That always seems to help me. 3w
Chrissyreadit Excellent! I‘ve had to step back several times but I‘m learning that actually helps me the most!!! Great plan! 3w
marleed Good for you! I kept trying to best my goals and ultimately that worked against me. This round I created a ‘no more than‘ goal and work to give myself a goalless day 7. Oddly, that has really worked for me this time. 3w

IndoorDame @marleed what a cool strategy! I‘m so happy you found something that‘s working for you! 3w

IndoorDame @Hufflepuffle thank you 💜 I wouldn't succeed without you gals here with me! 3w
StayCurious I‘ve paired down my goals before and it totally helped make me feel better. I don‘t think it‘s giving up, I think it‘s being adaptable and knowing yourself and what you can handle. Great job! 3w
ljuliel Sometimes when you‘re really down, having a lot of expectations of yourself makes life even harder. Nothing wrong with changing goals to adapt. Maybe once things are on the upswing again, you‘ll feel ready to tackle more. 3w

Keep forgetting to post for week 2 of #BFCr4. Didn‘t do great this week, mainly my fault for poor planning. Only 2/4 days of exercise. Didn‘t track food, & I‘ve decided my Fitbit is dead because the company did app update & wants people to have to buy a new one. Will just track exercise & food, not daily steps. 5/10 books. @wanderinglynn
@Clwojick #scarathlon

wanderinglynn I'm going to delete that “only“ and rewrite your sentence to say “I exercised two days this week!“ (complete with exclamation point). Maybe your goal was 4 days, but you *actually did* 2 days and that's awesome! Because that's more than you might have otherwise done. So celebrate what you accomplished! 🎉 We set goals to stretch ourselves, not achieve perfection. You got this and you're doing great! One step, one day at a time. 1mo
Scochrane26 @wanderinglynn thanks for the encouragement. I didn‘t even realize I phrased it that way. It‘s getting colder in my area, so this week, I‘ll be planning some alternatives to outside walking. 1mo

Moderate progress this week, but what matters most is that I haven‘t given up and I‘m still trying. I‘m time-poor and money-poor at the moment which is a barrier to meditating and buying and cooking the food id like to be eating 😬 but I‘m still doing my best, I‘ve managed gym once and yoga once, my boyfriend is helping me cook and I haven‘t given up on living healthy!

LauraJ Eating healthy is expensive. You did great with the meditation and workouts Even one minute counts! Post midweek if you want some encouragement. (edited) 1mo
Emilymdxn @LauraJ thank you teammate! 😊😊 I should definitely try to post more this week. Eating healthy is sooooo expensive. I spend so much time wandering about the supermarket fantasising about how much fruit I‘d like to be buying... 1mo
LauraJ @Emilymdxn Especially when you‘re cooking for one. I‘ve been buying frozen fruit for some meals. 1mo
Melmar Can definitely relate. Healthy food is expensive and finding the time to workout/ meditate can be hard. I think however little we are able to achieve, it‘s still moving us in the right direction 1mo

Week 2 was an improvement from last week, though I still don‘t feel like I got to where I wanted to be.

Mindful eating 5/7

Good thing I earned myself a Fitbit-free Saturday because look what‘s happening to dog walkers in my neighborhood!

Fitness Goal 35 miles per week: Met at 38.59 miles/90k steps.
Book Goal 18 total with 1 physically owned per 2 library loans: I‘m at 9 read with 4 coming from my shelves!

So-so. Meditated 5/7 and finished 2/12 books. No social activities - the air from the fires has been terrible and with humidity at less than 5%, it‘s a big nope. #bfcr4 #catsoflitsy

CoffeeCatsBooks Blep! 😻 1mo
Melmar That sounds tough, definitely not great outdoor weather. 1mo
wanderinglynn Kitty is too cute! ❤ 🐱 5 meditations & 2 books look like a good week to me! 🙌 But with the fires and air quality issues, maybe adapt your goals - at least until the air quality improves. Stay safe. 💜 1mo
Emilymdxn It sounds like you‘re doing really well especially considering the air quality - the better thing for your fitness is definitely staying out of that air! 1mo

#bfcr4 first week progress!

@wanderinglynn @Melmar @suzie.reads @LauraJ @jessinikkip

I‘m quite happy with this week! Im still settling into new routines in my new place and while it hasn‘t been perfect, I‘ve got my workouts in, managed 4 of my 5 a day most days, and there‘s time to work on meditation. Reading is slow because I‘m still reading Les Miserables veeeery slowly but I hope that will pick up!

LauraJ Great first week! 1mo

Not my best week. I read 3 books, but only got halfway to meeting my food, movement, and meditation goals. Looking forward to next week being more successful! @wanderinglynn @Hestapleton @StayCurious @Hufflepuffle

Hestapleton Starting is hard! But we will finish strong! 1mo
StayCurious I think we all struggled this week. But since we‘re all in this together we can work through it together. 1mo
Hufflepuffle It definitely seems like this first week was hard for us all but we can keep each other going and do our best this week! 💜 1mo

@Clwojick weather today in my area (KY). Sunny, around 58, finally fall weather #scarathlon
#BFCr4 week 1 check-in:
My Fitbit isn‘t holding a charge. Unsure if it‘s because the app has updated or from where it was accidentally washed & dried recently. I can‘t track daily steps right now.
Didn‘t track food this week. Still working on finding a routine at a job that doesn‘t have a consistent schedule.
3/4 days exercise
3/10 books
@wanderinglynn

wanderinglynn Way to go! 🙌 A great first week! But sorry your fitbit isn't working right. But 3 days of exercise is awesome! 1mo

Cut out the afternoon biscuits ❎ Gotta leave something for next week!
2 workouts a week ✅ Pic from my run on Thursday- good to get back to it after.a few weeks.
1 x swim and 1 x Parkrun over the 6 weeks ➡️ Not yet.
4 books ➡️ Hmph. BUT I have finished 2 books that I‘ve been reading for ages today 👍

Definitely a bit more active this week 😁

Check in time! #BFCr4 Week1
@wanderinglynn

This round I changed my goal from 5 miles a day to 35 miles per week (40 max) with an incentive be Fitbit free on Day7. I hit 35 miles so it‘s a free day!

My book goal is 18 books with the priority of 12:6 (2:1) library:personally owned. So far I‘m at 4:1!

And oh just yeah, it‘s blowup yard decor season for my walking view entertainment!

wanderinglynn That‘s an awesome way to do it! Love the Fitbit free day idea. 👍🏻👍🏻 Way to go! 🙌🏻 1mo
marleed @wanderinglynn I‘m interested in seeing if I have a bit more fun with my fitness if I work toward a day off rather than my constant attempt at a higher step count. Well, that and a foot problem I‘m forced to let rest :( 1mo
MatchlessMarie I saw an inflatable grim reaper at the Walmart entrance pointing at their flu shot sign recently 😂 1mo

marleed @MatchlessMarie That‘s a good one. To the utter delight meant of my grown daughter, she is entertained by my lack of love for blow up yard ornaments. Even if they started to grow on me, I‘d have to stop - my daughter wouldn‘t have nearly the fun teasing me! 1mo
MatchlessMarie @marleed 😅 my sister has been waiting for the cool weather to get an inflatable Trex costume to go walking in if she does it I bet she will make the news because it's a small town 🦖 1mo

I had three goals for #BFCr4.

1. read 2 books per week ✅

2. Stick to my calories - epic fail

3. Lose some weight - epic fail.

Realistically, though, 2 & 3 were never gonna happen during Cheltenham Literature Festival week. Books and cake... books and wine... books and chocolate....the combinations are endless

@wanderinglynn

wanderinglynn Ellie! 😂 You know there is NO failing in #BFC! You just didn‘t have your goals set right for a festival week. 😉 But 🙌🏻 for the Yoda meme. 1mo
Lucy_Anywhere One out of three ain't bad! I agree - there's no fail in BFC, only something to aim for 😀 sounds like a great week - tea, cake, and lots of bookish chat. Perfect! 1mo

Good morning (or whatever time zone you‘re in)! I‘m doing my best with fitness today, this will be my second day of walking to work rather than taking the bus. It‘s nearly an hour walk but with the time it takes to wait for the bus, slow for the bus being late etc. it‘s not really longer. It‘s nice to see London waking up in the morning! Reading is a bit slower as Les Mis is looong

Texreader That‘s amazing! Good for you!! 1mo

Hello team! @jessinikkip @LauraJ @Melmar @suzie.reads

I think I already posted my goals but I‘m revising a bit. Just moved into a new flat and all my habits are changing in a big way so this is coming at the perfect time for me! I‘ve also been in a bit of a reading slump so I‘m looking forward to this getting me back on track.

Almost forgot to post goals for #BFCr4.
I forgot what I put for my book goal. Going with 10.
4 days exercise a week
Track food
Adding a daily step goal because my new job is very sedentary. Going a little crazy w/ no activity. Will try to hit 6,000 steps 6/7 days a week.

Last night I enjoyed a Mashrou' Leila concert in San Francisco! And I stood up the whole time, something I could not have done a year ago with the fibromyalgia! And now we're starting #BFCr4, and I'm so excited, but I'm also dealing with an ITBS knee injury and can't run right now. 💔 Not sure yet how I'll adjust my goals due to that, and I still hope to run the 5K race on Saturday, just not with the time I was aiming for. #BFC @wanderinglynn

Caterina So excited for our team this round too! @BarbaraJean @hermyknee @Catlover23 ❤️😄🎉 2mo

My goals are fairly straightforward:

1. Walk 5K steps everyday.
2. Do a physical activity 5 days a week.
3. Complete 4 audiobooks over the course of the challenge.

@Airykah13 @Crazeedi @mcipher please email me at lisa@thespineview.com so we can coordinate. Being thinking about a team name (if we want one) and if someone would like to be team captain say so. WE'VE GOT THIS! 👍

I'm staying low-key this challenge, with a goal that kind of aligns with the start date.

Fitness: Ride 250 miles between Oct 1 - Nov 15 (indoor spin bike and/or outdoors). This is my personal Oct goal that I'm fitting in to #bfcr4.

So, in full disclosure, I've already started on this and currently stand at 51.5/250 miles.

I also set a higher book goal since it includes some picture books I plan on reading this month.
