This is a classic from 1934. It is one of my favorite horror films!🙀🙀🙀
I love this print by LornaLaineArt over on Etsy! All their prints are gorgeous but this one was especially suited for today‘s #chillingphotochallenge prompt #blackcat and it was just too pretty to not share. #teamslaughter #scarathlon @Clwojick
This is by far my favorite Poe story. I've read through a good chunk of this book, but it's so much. Dude was weird lol (2 pts. 1 for read, 1 for post)

I recently read this story with a student I was tutoring over the summer, and it is actually pretty creepy! The narrator is obsessed with a #blackcat.
Fun fact: I have visited several of Poe‘s residences in Baltimore, Virginia, and Philadelphia. According to the tour guide, Poe‘s basement in this Philadelphia house was the inspiration for this story!

The Poe Museum in Richmond, VA has two black cats that reside on the property, named Edgar and Pluto (Pluto is the name of the cat in his short story The Black Cat). I was able to get a picture of Edgar enjoying the beautiful fall day in the gardens. #Scaratlon #TeamStoker #ChillingPhotoChallenge Day 4: Black Cat (+1 pt earned)
I‘ve had not one #BlackCat but two. Sadly, I have no photos of either, having lost many of my old photos a while back. So you‘ll have to make do with my torties in silhouette instead. They almost look black!
Day 3 #FallIsBooked and #BlackCat
This is our family cat. I adopted her 9 years ago for a Valentine's gift for my husband (he was my boyfriend back then) When he decided to go away for college, we asked his grandparents to watch her for us. They fell so deeply in love with her and her with them that she became their cat. ❤️
Day 3 #FallIsBooked - Black cat
This is Boris, who‘s sadly not around any more but who belonged to my mother-in-law and was soooo cool. Does anyone else blink at cats the first time you meet to let them know you‘re friendly, or is that just me? 🤔😂
Not book related, buuut tomorrow is my little cats 5th birthday 🙀. She‘s not the most affectionate member of my family (my shadow yes, but affectionate nope). Though she does hang out while I read and listens to my problems when I come home from work after a hard day. I honestly don‘t know what I would do without her.
So, as you all know, I have been feeling very sad lately. My house is very quiet, so I decided to get a little brother for my cat and dog. This is JB, and he is pretty stinking cute. I went to the humane society, and I couldn‘t resist him. So far, he and my cat, Bandit, are good buds. JB still has some reservations about my dog, Daisy. Daisy, however, loves him. Her overbearing love makes him quite nervous, but they are getting better.
Happy birthday Edgar Allen Poe, poet, writer, influencer of generations.
Interesting article on Poe:
Here's a great marker for my Poe book. 😸 This patch badge sure could be cool for the Gothic cosplays, thinking of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I'm still keeping hopeful for the Cthulhu Club badge, sold at Hot Topic stores. Also between King's Pet Sematary and IT; a Losers Club paper boat.
Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe was our final #octoberreads #halloweenreads selection for #litereads this month. I know I enjoyed it, but it certainly won't be a favourite of mine (I prefer some of Poe's other stories far more). Be sure to let me know what you thought. You can read my full review in the link below.
This is one of the more violent stories we have looked at with #litereads particularly regarding animals, as well as a slight case of murder. It may be perfect for #halloweenreads but people have different feelings and reactions to violent stories. What did you think of the violence here? How does it compare to modern violence? #octoberreads
1. Hand out candy
2.. Black Cats
3. Neither! I'm too chicken - the scare stays with me. BUT I LOVED the scary Netflix The Haunting of Hill House- the Book was good, not scary.
4. @EmilyChristine #TuesdayTidbits #ThisOrThat
Thanks for the tag @Gissy
1. If I could get away with it, Trick or Treat. I‘d love to give out candy 🍭 too but no one hits my building.
2. Black cats!! Although I think bats 🦇 are very cute!
3. I love horror movies. Liked both the Haunting of Hill House and new Sabrina series on Netflix.
4. Thanks to @SamHeartCoffee for the tag and tagging @kitkatdallibooks
5. Misery or maybe Pet Cemetery.
Happy Halloween 🎃 everyone!
This week's #LiteReads selection is Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe, something that seems especially suitable for the week of Halloween. Be sure to let us know what you think of the story. You can find free sources to read it in the link below.
It's been a difficult few days. I had to say goodbye to my sweet Nox on Saturday, after he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. The blood transfusions he would have likely needed for the rest of his life to stay healthy were too much of a financial burden at $1200-$2200 each and I made the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep. I only took him in a year ago, so our time together was brief, but he brightened every day with 👇
A day late for International Black Cat Day, but here's a boy (Bookwomble Jr.) and his cat (Frankie) having an impromptu sleep (there should be a shorter term for that: 🐱😴).
