My September started off really well for reading, and then it fizzled. Big time.I finished strong with a couple really good books, and I‘m hoping to finish a couple more in the next few days. #SeptStats

I had a really rough reading month. 10 books total and 6 were audiobooks and one was a graphic novel. Nothing was really clicking. My favorite was The Golden State. Testaments was very good, as was Pumpkinheads. Hated Nineteen Minutes. Didn‘t like Manhattan Beach.
Hope next month is better.

My #ReadingGoals for September. These are the eighteen books I hope to get to this month. No doubt one or two I won‘t get to and others I will get to which aren‘t on this post. #SelfImprovementSeptember

OriginalCyn620 Awesome! I loved Evelyn Hugo too! 5mo

Crazeedi Ahhhhhh! You're going to enter the world of Venice too!! Yes!! 5mo
Moony Wow! But I know you can get it! Can I ask you something? How many hours do you read a day? I only read 18 books a year. 😂 5mo
jillrhudy I am listening to Evelyn Hugo right now; having trouble tearing myself away to sleep, work, etc 5mo
Andrew65 @jillrhudy That sounds very promising! 😁 5mo
Andrew65 @Crazeedi Yes picked up the book from the library last night. 5mo
Andrew65 @Moony During work days I listen to an audiobook on the commute, usually totally 1 hr 20 minutes. Then will attempt to get up to 2 hrs in at night, don‘t always manage it but sometimes get more done. On Saturdays, Sundays and during weekends aim to read at least 7 hrs a day. Sometimes manage 8 on Sundays. During school holidays try to do 8 hrs but can range generally from 7 - 9 hrs. We no longer tend to watch any tv, but will sometimes 👇 (edited) 5mo
Andrew65 @Moony 👆listen to cricket commentary on the radio or watch highlights on YouTube (this somedays can eat into reading time). Keep up to date with news and videos on iPad from BBC website. Helps that children flown the next and my wife loves to read as well. (edited) 5mo
Andrew65 @moony I used to read that amount of books (18) and kept challenging myself to read more. Still remember the joy when I got to 75 a year then a hundred. These days I read over 200. It‘s about targeting and ring fencing that reading time. If too tired to physically read I will turn to audiobooks. 5mo
Andrew65 @MicrobeMom Great news 😊 5mo
Moony @Andrew65 oh thanks this great answer! 😊 I wish you fun and a good reading time with your family. I'll try to hear more audiobooks. 🤣 5mo
Andrew65 @Moony It is audiobooks that has really help me take reading to those higher levels. Some audiobooks work for me others don‘t, so you need to work out what type of audiobooks (and narrators) work best for you. I do a lot of driving so they really help. (edited) 5mo
Moony @Andrew65 great tip! 😎 5mo

Holy carp, it‘s September! What?!?! At work and in life it promises to be a busy month. Between library holds and checkouts, I have at least eight books on the docket. I plan to read at least four and see where we are at the end. Since it‘s completely dark on the porch and I told my spouse I‘d go get dinner for us, I‘ll have to come back later with August wrap. #readinggoals selfimprovementseptember

These are the books I hope to get through this month. One library book that‘s due back on the 14th, my work book club book that I don‘t want to read but must, 4 NetGalley books that release late this month/early October, and a couple just because I want to. 😊 Trolls is dependent on whether it actually shows up or not. It was a LibraryThing win and the title from the month before never showed up, so now I‘m worried this one won‘t either.

The end of September came and went while I was arriving in London and navigating buses, trains, and jet lag. So I never posted my paltry September reading totals! Here they are: 5 books completed, three of which were comics/graphic novels! In my defense, I also read hundreds of pages of Les Mis for the #lesmisbuddyread. Not that I‘ve finished Les Mis yet... even though the buddy read ended 2 weeks ago... 😬

I am a little late in posting, but here are my September books. I didn‘t read as much as I would have liked, but I guess it‘s not bad for being back in school. On the bright side, everything I read was very good. Well, I hated reading the Woodward book, but it was the subject and not the book itself.

See All 14 Comments
BarbaraTheBibliophage Had I known, I wouldn‘t have bought the vintage copy. And yet, it‘s kind of cool too. So maybe we can compare and figure out what got added back. 1y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage That‘s ok, I have my mom‘s older Hardcover and a kindle version, I‘ll probably read the kindle version just for ease of reading. 1y
ephemeralwaltz Great month! 👏👏👏 1y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage I just looked, my kindle version has 3 Parts, and 78 chapters. 1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage The one I have is 823 pages and has 68 chapters. However you decide is cool by me. 👏🏻👏🏻 1y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage Wow! I must definitely have an extended version then. So yes, I‘ll read that one and we can compare notes as we go. See if the additions are great or just extraneous. 1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Riveted_Reader_Melissa It‘s a plan!! From what I understand, your version is closer to King‘s original manuscript. His publisher forced him to cut lots of it b/c they didn‘t think a massive book would sell. They didn‘t get him ... yet. And once he had the track record to take control, he “fixed” the book. 1y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @BarbaraTheBibliophage Yes, that‘s what he said in a note at the beginning. He says some thought The Stand was too long to begin with, so don‘t get this book if that was you....but otherwise, it‘s the version he first wrote, without the cuts the “original” version had. 1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage 👍🏻 Makes sense. He writes good Author‘s Notes in many of his books. 1y

Not my strongest reading month, but I haven‘t had much free time of late, so I‘m pleased with what I did finish. Plus, it doesn‘t help that I‘ve started and stopped many books. Maybe my goal in October should be to finish what I‘ve already started? Ha! 🤣
