A collection of ghost stories with a variety of authors from the 1800s to now; names you know, Poe & names perhaps never heard, Amy Giacolone--hers was my favorite, a real laugh out loud ghost story. Some were old & British & one was "tawdry"-most of them really made me think--not in a spooky way but a college fiction class sort of way where you discover things aren't always as they seem...Bradbury wrote a ghost story? It's all interpretation.

I have been haunted by a drafted blog post. It has been glaring at me for all of 2019. It is hours of formatting, writing., work that got lost but you know what? I finally posted it as it is. It was my reading survey for 2018. While a bit old now, I still enjoyed reading my thoughts on the books I did read back then and I hope you will too...

Today‘s #chillingphotochallenge prompt is #ghostly. I love this collection of ghost stories put together and illustrated by Audrey Niffenegger. There are a variety of authors - from classic to modern - represented, which is nice. It introduced me to some authors I‘d not heard of which I always appreciate.

I thought that this was a collection of Audrey Niffenegger‘s stories, so I was a little disappointed that it was just an anthology of other works. It was good. Some I have read and some were new for me. I just think maybe she could have chosen some better stories for this collection. I don‘t think I agree that these are the best in this genre.

Saw this today at the bookstore. It has both Neil Gaiman AND Edgar Allan Poe short horror stories in it with a lot of others! Can a book get any more perfect than that? 😁

An enjoyable collection of short stories centred around ghosts.

The spines on Ghostly and Omens are stunning 😍

An eclectic mix of authors, many older, but also a few newer authors mixed in. The tonal registers are also varied - including more amusing, satirical tales, to truly creepy, eerie ones, and others that veer more heartfelt and sentimental. I also thought that Niffenegger arranged the stories in a very well thought out order, with threads of similarity often running from one story to the next - be it in content, theme, or tone.

Here I am, having a bad day and these bad boys come in. This is my first time ordering from Bookoutlet and boy did I add on to my TBR. I'm so excited!

I started this compilation of ghostly short stories last night. None truly scary to me so far - mostly just spooky.

Reading a story a day for the month of Spooktober. 👻 And yes, often while keeping my deafblind tuxedocat company... There's plenty of black cat hairs in the book showing for that 😅 Magical cover btw.

This is a book of ghost stories written by a bunch of different authors including Poe and Bradbury but I think that Poe‘s The Black Cat was probably my favorite. There was definitely a story in here for everyone, this was a good October read.

I went to some book stores today and spent a bunch of money. 💰💸💲

The collection is a bit eclectic, ranging from modern day to classic with a twist of contemporary. The stories are more traditional ghost stories versus the creepy kind that keep you up at night. All-in-all, a fun read, perfect for this time of year. I do wish the author had included more of her work because I think her writing speaks for itself. I enjoyed her introductions to each story and the illustrations, they were a perfect companion.

Neil Gaiman, Edith Wharton, P.G Wodehouse, Kelly Link ...to name but a few.... 💕
