Today is my day off, so in between cleaning and meal prep, I'm reading this King book I've never read before.
Thoughts on this one? I'm not sure why I've put off reading it all these years, but I'm excited to read it now.

5/5 ⭐
I loved the writing, I loved the mixture of horror / supernatural / social themes, I loved that the hero was an old person. In a way it reminded me a lot of Kings much more recent "Fairytale".
[Picture: a self portrait as a character of the book, which didn't quite turn out as it should have, but i still wanted to use it]
I don‘t have a chronic insomnia but last night was a bad one.I‘m lucky I don‘t have anything I can‘t put off today but caring for myself and pets but what a drag. To those who struggle with this often, hugs to you! I finally remembered that sometimes the Get Sleepy podcast works , did last night/morning.
Absolutely incredible. I'd never read Insomnia before, and was unprepared for what an amazing story it would tell. As senior citizens, the protagonists are blessed with an extra layer of likeability and, at times, pathos that truly invest the reader in their story and perspective. The unexpected ties to The Dark Tower were a welcome bonus. 5/5
“Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes earlier, until he‘s barely sleeping at all. During his late night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people‘s heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.”
This was maybe the only book I read in October, but it was still a favorite! I loved the senior main characters.

I listened to the audio, and the audio was ok; I guess I lost interest periodically, but I don‘t think it was the narrator or the audio at fault. This is one of, if not the, book I‘ve rated the lowest by King (of what I‘ve read, which is quite a bit), as he is one of my favourite authors. There were parts that I “liked” (or at least found more interesting), like the domestic abuse situation, but much of it just didn‘t interest me.
Here‘s my October #Bookly Report. Exciting month of reading, but I didn‘t get as much done as I had planned. There‘s always November!
This was a unique story- there are elements of science fiction, fantasy, and action, and the heroes are septuagenarians. I thought it was well-paced, and I loved the connections to The Dark Tower and It. I stayed up past my bedtime to finish!

Seriously, work‘s been insane so I didn‘t get the matches out yesterday as planned. But…..
All #allhollowsreadswap matches have now been sent out. Check your emails and let me know you got yours.
Opening day is October 30th
Of course Stephen King has mined the scarier possibilities of insomnia. Of course he has.

Newest additions & late birthday gift to myself to my "Stephen King" shelf. Insomnia & Night Shift. Now I can continue working my way through King's work in publication order because with the exception of Danse Macabre (which I still need) I have the next 13 books. That should keep me busy for awhile.
Gotta get those CEs in for my license. At least this one is more interesting than my last one. I‘ve stayed awake so far. Which is a nifty trick since according to Fitbit, I only slept 4 hours last night. 🤣🤣
1. Okay, this is the hardest question ever! I think I'd have an easier time picking which finger I'd rather have lopped off then which King book is my favorite. The Stand goes without saying along with Dr. Sleep and my first two favorites were Insomnia and Hearts in Atlantis.
2. Hmmm.🤔 I'd say Roland & Atropos & his trusty, rusty scalpel.

My daughter and I have both been struggling with sleep lately. My daughter has been up until 3am, no matter what time we put her to bed, which then keeps me up. Last night I ended up not sleeping at all which lead to a 3 hour nap.
This month‘s book is #Insomnia! Grab your copy and check back on or around December 18th (probably a few days later, because I‘m a forgetful ghost host 👻 ) for open discussion! #LosersClub #StephenKing #StephenKingInOrder #KingFromTheBeginning #ConstantReader #ReadAlong #BuddyRead #BookDiscussion #ghosthostpost

Never got a chance to read this when I was younger. Finally gonna check it out
#68 of my year. Gonna dive into this chunky book I think it‘s under 800 pages but it‘s heavy and I love it lol 🤓👌🏽
In other news, I made my 2020 reading goal by June 3rd. (At the pace I was going, I was hoping for June 1st, but beggars can't be choosers, can they? 😂)
Still super happy either way. Yes, this is a mix of audiobooks, books, and rereads, but it's still way more than I have made it through in years. I can't wait to see what the rest of 2020 brings! 🎉📚🤓
I wish Audible had more ways to track your progress, so I could more easily update my progress in Goodreads.... is that too much to ask?!
I love Eli Wallach's narration though! 😍
4-21-20: My 32nd finished book of 2020! 🌟🌟🌟 #insomnia #stephenking 👍🏼#️⃣3️⃣2️⃣📖

One ☝️ hour thus far. Unless you count lecture reading for class. So I‘m back at it again. #24B4Monday @SumisBooks @Andrew65 @jb72

Page 63/789. It really is kind of hard to put down. It‘s almost as if the title bestows itself upon the reader. And I haven‘t filled out the form yet, but this will be Letter “I” for #LitsyAtoZ
Took me some time to finish, it was a #chunkster... not that I‘d expect much else from King. It started with a bang, and had lots of great connections to his other works, It and The Dark Tower series in particular, but it did feel like it dragged a little. Not that that deterred my crying towards the end (even knowing what was coming)... As I‘m late to the Stephen King game, it‘s shocked me how many of his 📚 have had me blubbering 😭

Trying to ignore the mess of being midway into the new deck and enjoy the new patio furniture on this sunny Sunday 😎
The pup was quick to join me in testing out the loveseat.
