I really liked this story of three Sisters, who were named for Shakespeare characters, and grew up quoting Shakespeare, as their dad is a professor of Shakespeare. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to keep reading it, since their mom is fighting breast cancer, but her cancer journey was so eloquently written about and the experiences were described so correctly, that it felt like a hug of acknowledgement and support throughout the story.

I've been having a hard time finding a book I actually wanted to keep reading, so I'm happy to have taken this book off my bookshelf and now I don't want to put it down! 💚

Enjoyed this simple story. Is it full or twists or turns? Nope, it's exactly what it sounds like. I like stories full of the normal dramas that families have. I did not like this narrator's voice for the father though.

So I got stuck on the didn‘t get arrested for embezzlement part. Really? But it was the big dark secret for one sister and her reason for coming home and staying there after getting the news about her mom‘s diagnosis. The sisters weren‘t bad, and though I like Shakespeare, the dad only spoke in Shakespeare quotes and it got kind of old after a while. Though it was supposed to show how they were raised. Felt contrived more than eccentric.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.

Enjoyed this book having a number of weird sisters myself. It‘s was a nice light read about a quirky family.

A tale of interesting, but hardly weird, sisters. The story line was ok, yet the voice of the narrator inconsistent enough to impact upon the fluidity of the story. I had difficulty connecting with the characters. Not the best book I‘ve recently read.

I thought I wasn't going to like this book, but I was pleasantly surprised! A story of finding yourself, family, and overcoming the box we put ourselves in.

Everyone was sleeping so I snuck out to the car to find my book I‘d left there by accident, and discovered to my pure delight that it was a rainy dark evening.

A great sum of this book this far in one quote. I have really really enjoyed getting to know these sisters. I relate best to Cordy. But traits of all 3 can be found in any of us I think. Such a good book with such good lessons if you read between the lines. Not just the obvious black and white lessons, but also complex ones you can‘t quite put your words to, but ring through to your heart. ❤️

Some down time reading at the festival yesterday between events. I fell into conversation with a great grandma and the books she was buying for all her kids and grand kids. Definitely the kind of Grandma I want to be when I grow up! ❤️

I am SO excited about this one! I begrudgingly picked it up off my shelf because it was the easiest one to get to and at the top of my TBR pile- I had no idea it would be so literary and shakespherian 😍 this may wellend up being one of my favorites. I hope you all can keep my sister Karen in your thoughts. After I was diagnosed with cancer my sister decided to get a hysterectomy as a preventative measure. They found ovarian cancer. She went in yesterday to have some lymph nodes removed to find out if her cancer had spread. They found really enlarged lymph nodes that they had to remove. One had a nerve wrapped around it.

#Siblings #MagicalMarch - this is a book I read years and years ago about three sisters whose entire family love books (especially Shakespeare‘s plays) and clash with each other frequently. I think I was drawn to it because I am one of three sisters and because I loved the Shakespeare connection! If I remember rightly I enjoyed it a lot but I‘ve forgotten so much of it I may need to reread it 😊

I really enjoyed this book! Definitely my kind of book, just a story of a family with all of the imperfections and wrong turns and quirky characters. Definitely a pick!

This is one of the best novels about adult sibling relationships that I can remember reading. I loved the inclusion of Shakespeare verses throughout and the fact that none of the characters was ever without a book.

Three sisters have returned home, reuniting the eccentric family. Here, books are a passion (there is no problem a library card can't solve) and TV is something other people watch.
They love each other. They just don't happen to like each other very much.

We got invited to a book swap through my husband's company at the NY Public Library tonight!!! So excited to get into a function at the #NYPL!! I thought this book was just highbrow enough to make me look like I know what I'm doing...LOL

U/V/W titles: TBR edition and sci fi/fantasy edition. I didn't have a complete set in either category, so I went with two partial sets. #marchintoreading

What I liked about this book: the use of Shakespeare throughout; the raw emotion and reality the characters face; the sisterly bond.

What drove me nuts: who the heck was the narrator? It couldn't have been a sister, despite sounding like one, because each was spoken of in the third person. Maybe I'm the only one who was bothered by this but it made me bananas!

Tucson Festival of Books weekend finally came! I got these books plus a sunburn and made it home with $4.77. Haha.

The weight of a name

As one of three mightily strong yet significantly different sisters, I can say this pretty much sums it up...

I actually listened to this book instead of read it. These are not normally the type of books I gravitate towards. Had I actually had to read it I honestly might not have made it through. However, listening to this book made it enjoyable and light. Fair warning there are a ton of Shakespeare references most of which I will be researching. It is a nice story of growing up and finding yourself in the midst of struggle.

Listened on audiobook. Enjoyed this solid but light story about three 30-something sisters finding their way in adulthood.

#dysfunctionalfamilies I was able to line up myself and my two sisters a little too well with the three sisters the last time I read this. So although I enjoyed it the first time, I actually haven't read it since. #photoadaynov16 @RealLifeReading

One of my all-time favorite #debutnovels. A book about sisters coming home and figuring themselves out. That type of "domestic" novel usually doesn't do it for me, nor does family drama, but this worked. Beautiful prose. It has been a while since I've read it, but I know I liked it a lot. Written in first person plural, though, so that might throw people off. #booktober

I went back and forth on this book. About halfway through I hated most of the characters (except Jonathan, and I suppose Dan and Aidan). When I got to the end, I realized that was probably what I should have been feeling. The characters are slightly extreme, but ultimately relatable. A well written, thought provoking story on life, hardships, growing up and family. Oh, and did I mention Jonathan?! ❤️ Pictured: my best reading buddy, Bowie.
