For me, the Queen of the #vampire novel will always be Anne Rice! 👑👿 I remember reading this series when I was just starting to get into my vampire phase (that I never really grew out of, lets be honest) and just completely falling in love with her writing. I try and reread these books every few years because I love them so much. 💕 I adore Lestat but my favorite vamp is Armand.

I‘m still trucking along in my #YearOfRice and I have some thoughts on this one:

- The movie has NOTHING on this book, and very little in common with it. 🤔

- LOVE the female characters added to the story! Maharet, Jesse, Pandora... yay!

- Anne Rice and her writing are no joke. 🙌🏻

- I love me some Louis, but Lestat is the man: ‘I can‘t help being a gorgeous fiend. It‘s just the card I drew.‘

On to the next!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Come on, say it again. I‘m a perfect devil. Tell me how bad I am. It makes me feel so good!” Oh Lestat!!! He kills me This book was so much slower than the first 2 (maybe 200-300 pages of back story, really?) but I still enjoyed it

Mine's tagged. I find this book an absolutely amazing read. The mythology that Anne Rice created for this book and for the series is just amazing. Very realistic to the point where you want to look in the history books to see if some of it was real or not.

Bookwomble Peter Jackson's Hobbit films - awful! 2y
keys_on_fire Mrs Frisby and the Rays of NIMH. It‘s one of my fav books as a kid, but the movie is awful. Second runner up: The Black Cauldron 2y
hwestfall Ender's Game and The Giver were big disappointments in our house. 2y
Swe_Eva World War Z missed pretty much the entire point of the book. 😒 2y
Weaponxgirl The golden compass, they gutted the heart of the book because of Christian activists who had already boycotted the movie. So they made a movie for nobody in the end and I don't see why they bothered if your gonna get rid of the core message. 2y
lyradora @Weaponxgirl agree about The Golden Compass. Also, I never read Queen of the Damned, and the film was so awful that it made me never want to do so. 2y
TheReadingMermaid @lyradora the QOTD book was awesome! Amazing story telling 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 2y
lyradora @Syndelle777 it makes me wonder how many people have been turned off of good books by lousy adaptations. 2y

Love this book, particularly the Daniel/Armand dynamic and the addition of the Talamasca. Akasha drives me a little nuts asking the same thing rephrased over and over ("Why can't you do what I say and be okay with mass murder?"). I get it, but still. That's just a tiny gripe though, not a problem with the story itself.

I intended to move on to The Body Thief, but the library didn't have it on audio. I've moved on to something different.

As an Aaliyah fan, I tried watching "Queen of the Damned." I didn't make it through all the way--I ended up fast forwarding and watched the parts with her in it. I've never read any of Anne Rice's books (they are on my list), so I didn't have a clue what was going on. Apparently Anne Rice didn't care for the movie either.
#annerice #queenofthedamned #aaliyah #vampires #sowhatshappening

BooksTeasAndBookishThings Yeah, the movie was not the best, but Aaliyah did a great job! 3y
TheNextBook #aaliyah I still love her. I took her death hard! I still can't believe baby girl is gone 😔 I still watch her MTV Diary sometimes. 3y
[DELETED] 4184155464 @BooksTeasAndBookishThings : I agree! She stole every scene she was in. And @TheNextBook I understand. I remember seeing the news break on TRL and just feeling so confused and hollow. She was so talented and just getting started with so much ahead of her. She and Selena's deaths are senseless tragedies to me. 😞 3y
TheNextBook I wholeheartedly agree. She was absolutely beautiful in this movie though. In regards to this book, I thought it was just ok. I definitely preferred 3y
