I decided to read my first Stephen King at long last. It didn‘t disappoint 😊 This book is fun and propulsive! Trying to figure out my next King 🤴

As a King fan since middle school, I'm unsure why it took me so long to get around to reading this, but I'm glad I finally did. It was disturbing, like anyone who has read a King book would expect. However it was a very good thriller with only moderate gore.
Side note: The narrator made this another great #audiobook option.

1.) My oldest baby girl turned 21 this week (🤯), and I got to take her out mini bar hopping for drinks last night. Not a big drinker, but it was fun to experience this right of passage w/her. 🥰
2.) I found fresh Dragon Eyes at the Asian market, and they are fantastic!
3.) Making good headway on iZombie and might be done before Netflix pulls it 9/5.
4.) Had a good annual check up.
5.) Scored a free iced java!
😁
1. Stephen King.....to be in that head of his
2. 11/22/63 - I'm too big of a chicken to read a lot of older books!

This was a very tense thriller with some particularly horrific opening scenes. Bill Hodges is a great character and I will read the whole trilogy.
I'm relatively new to the world of Bill Hodges and Holly Gibney, so I didn't quite know what to expect from the initial offering in this late-stage critical darling in King's career. While King had at this point written two works for the Hard Case Crime series, Mr. Mercedes fits the mold more comfortably than either. A retired detective is pulled into a hunt for the one that got away, and the ensuing chase is an absolute delight. 5/5
Finished this audiobook while painting my little fox. 🦊☕ I kinda like those King books that have nothing to do with the supernatural.

Instead of reading, I‘m enjoying this series :) I enjoyed the books so… I am sure I‘ll enjoy this version of it :) #BooksToScreen
I‘ve already read this book, so I knew I liked the story. This is the first time I‘ve listened to it though; it was my husband‘s and my road trip book. Will Patton does a great job with the narration and really builds the tension for the final showdown. It was also nice to be reintroduced to Holly in preparation for reading Holly. It was chilly and windy outside today; I was underdressed! #audiowalk
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I‘m gonna be honest, Mr King‘s brain scares the shit out of me. It‘s because his stories feel so realistic. And his characters are deeply and convincingly developed. I‘m such a noob, I picked up his newest, “Holly,” and quickly realized there were others I needed first. Looking like a King October marathon for me! This was creepy, intense, and freaking scary because it‘s ripped-from-the-headlines type stuff.
This has been on my shelf since 2014. I don‘t know what took me so long. It was great!!
Currently reading. I have tried to read his books before and could never get into them. Lets try again. This book sounded real good.
My library haul. Horse is for the book club. I hope it good. This will be my first time in the book club. Im very excited about it.
Next up . . . Never read a King novel before. This seems right up my street though. And at 99p who could resist.
This is the first in the Bill Hodges trilogy. I really enjoyed it. It was creepy, disturbing, and quite gory. A group of people are standing out in front of a job fair when a Mercedes comes out of nowhere and runs into them. A few years later, Hodges, the recently retired detective from the case, receives a letter from the killer, which recommits Hodges to find him 🙂

If you haven‘t read the first book in this trilogy…the ebook is on sale for $2.99! #boleybooks #stephenking #mrmercedes #readwithme
I found this highly enjoyable. Saving my deeper thoughts for #losersclub but the good guys were easy to root for & the villains were easy to hate without being cliche. Loads of action & tension. Can‘t wait to discuss @BarkingMadRead
I‘ve gotten to that part of the book where the whole world can just suck it, because I‘ve just gotta keep reading. Luckily I have very little planned for today 🤣 I also really love it when they use way too much cinnamon sugar in my oatmeal at Panera! #losersclub
Starting this today for the #losersclub This month‘s book is #MrMercedes Grab your copy and check back at the end of the month for open discussion! #LosersClub #StephenKing #StephenKingInOrder #KingFromTheBeginning #ConstantReader #ReadAlong #BuddyRead #BookDiscussion
🎧 Such an awesome start to a trilogy! One of my favs!
Bill, Holly & Jerome are such a fun investigative threesome!
Brady steals a car & plows into a queue at a job fair killing or injuring 23 people. Now our unusual investigative team is on his trail trying to stop this mass murderer from killing thousands.
Nail biting!

I started a re-read of this series when I heard there‘s a new Holly book coming out this year. I really liked this series the first time and still like it now.
I spent most of the first weekend of #MarvellousMarch working outside and listening to the tagged audiobook. I did not want to come back to work today!
Banished to the basement to cover new library books again this time I made sure to bring my headphones. I am thinking Stephen King isn't something I want to blare through my phone with the Children's section right outside to office 🤔😬
With the announcement that there will be more Holly later this year I figured now was the perfect time to finally pick this series up. Plus, I can't read 2 fantasy books at the same time or I start to get them confused. Since I book club book is strictly fantasy I needed something slightly different to go with it.
Chaplin thinks I should reread the Bill Hodges trilogy before King's new book, Holly, comes out this year! 💕📚 Well...I can't argue with that logic! 😹 #catsoflitsy #chaplin
The final passage creeped me out. While not as wild as many of King‘s books, this still wasn‘t to my taste. Still, he kept the suspense and action high so it would be a page turner if I wasn‘t using the audio version. Early one morning a man intentionally drives through a crowd killing and injuring many. Then he begins to individually pursue others. Obviously not one of my Christmas reads.

This is such a difficult challenge for me! 🥹 The ones who really know me, know I talk too much.
I need to shut up 🤐🥲
Did I just fail this challenge?! I mean… I didn‘t talk about the book! 🤷🏻♀️😂🤣
I really need to shut up! 🤐😭😭😭

Bit of a dark interpretation maybe, but the only one I could think of! (Might say something about me 😶) #icecreamday #julyjam @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Eggs
Holly Gibney. She really escalated the Bill Hodges trilogy, and even got her own spin-off. Strong supporting characters are only an issue if the main character is weak.
#two4tuesday @TheSpineView
Late to the party, and kicking myself for not reading this sooner! This is not your classic SK horror, but contains all the elements that only King can come up with - fast paced, heart-stopping action and unforgettable characters. Will Patton narrating is the icing on the cake!
I don‘t know why I waited so long to start the Bill Hodges trilogy. But I started this book this morning and had devoured it by this afternoon. The shortish chapters made the pages breeze by and I really couldn‘t put it down. Stressful and will keep you on the edge of your seat! The ending was very solid. All ready to dive into book 2 tonight! 5⭐️

I absolutely loved this book. I devoured it in a number of days. It wouldn‘t have taken me so long except I do have my motherly duties lol. I can‘t wait to start the rest of the series. Stephen King can be a hit or a miss with me but I‘ve learned the books really are always better then the movies or tv series.
Great book! Loved how it gave points of view from both sides.
Wow I really liked this one!! It is right up there with The Stand, I can't choose which one is my favorite, but maybe will be able to decide after I finish the series!! Because WOW I really liked it!! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and the group of people in this book were seriously perfect. Also the audiobook was AMAZING. 5 stars!!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 loved it but really it's 25 golden shining stars for Will Patton's narration. I would love for him to be with me everywhere I go to read signs, menus, labels....anything. Just read to me!

Brady is a serial killer a bit different than most. Love this trilogy!
Still loving Will Patton's amazing performance of this book! Basically walking around with a big grin on my face - he's so good!!
I DON'T KNOW IF I LOVED THIS OR RATED THIS 4 STARS BC I WAS SIMPING FOR STEPHEN KING
Still enjoying this audiobook read by Will Patton very much! Getting a lot of walking done because of it. This cardinal was there on my way up the trail and was still there on my way back. 💗
I'm posting one book per day from the ever growing unread stacks in my personal library. No description or explanation, just books I own and plan to read. #tbr
Day 36
My 6 year old has a cold and ear ache. So she is cuddled up with my Stephen king blanket! It‘s cold and rainy here for her spring break.
I couldn‘t take the language anymore. I couldn‘t tell you how many times the n-word was used. I get the character is a racist but seriously come on. Then the thing with the mother no thank you.
How many times can Stephen King reference his other books in this one?
Weekend plans 😊🍷

Season one of Mr. Mercedes is on deck. I‘ve been waiting on this library hold for at least a year and it finally came in. Read the book ages ago so this will be a fun re-visit.
Thanks to @Hestapleton and #slumpathon I managed to get a good amount of reading done despite it being a very busy few days!
