A book about a #ghost. I've been meaning to read this for so long, but have been hesitating as I loved TTTW so much.

This is an August #bookspin (maybe) pick that‘s been on my shelves for too long. And now we can part ways…
I dived into this without knowing what to expect. Turns out a disappointment. Firstly I didn‘t like the writing style. I have no sympathy for the characters, save for one. The 20-year-old twins talk and act like teenagers, while one character is a real creep. I didn‘t find the story chilling or spooky and how it unravelled..need to suspend disbelief. Seems like a marmite book.. I‘m not in the love camp.
#mandmchallenge2020 #twins
My 2nd book from this author, and I don‘t get why her books seem so polarizing, but it feels like readers love them or hate them. I‘m still in the love camp.🖤
Delightfully weird, genuinely affecting, beautifully written ghost story with a very gothic feel—but not what you expect from a ghost story. I did figure out what was going to happen a few minutes before the twist, but that didn‘t stop the goosebumps. LOVE!
#screamathon book 1!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I found this book a little slow going but was surprised by the turn it took. I don‘t feel the ending was as satisfying as I hoped it would be. I like the author‘s style of writing and Time Traveler‘s Wife was one of my favorites so I might give Audrey Niffeneger another try!
I finished my May #BookSpin book. It was ok, but I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. Hopefully my #DoubleSpin book will be better!

5-5-20: My 35th finished book of 2020! 🌟🌟🌟🌟 #herfearfulsymmetry #audreyniffenegger 👍🏼📖#️⃣3️⃣5️⃣
There weren‘t many surprises to this book would made the ending unsatisfying. I do want to learn more about he cemetery mentioned in this novel though! ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Took me a while to get in to this, a lack of other options definitely helped me stick with it, but really enjoyed the final third - not at all where I thought things were going!
Today‘s #chillingphotochallenge prompt is #graveyard . Immediately I thought of this book. To me, London‘s Highgate Cemetery is as much a character as a setting in this book. Thinking of it again today, I may need to read this again.
#teamstoker #scarathon
That moment when a book character has your same birthday. 😁
We ended our lovely (if very cold and drizzly) London day, with a wander round the magical Highgate Cemetery..... the higgledy-piggledy graves, rampant wildflowers and crumbling statutes in the woodland-like setting, is just so beautiful.
(And makes for the perfect setting for this creepy book 💕👻🐱🐱)
Today‘s 3/9. ☺️
Do you own any of these? Have you read any of these?

In 26 sleeps (how my best friend and I always measure our time), I‘ll be spending the day in London with her!💕
Our plans -Ottolenghi‘s bakery for yummy food, browsing at Portobello road market, a little book shopping at my 2 favorite shops (Books for Cooks & Daunts) and a walk in the magical Highgate cemetery ( a place I‘ve loved since reading about it in the tagged book)
Can‘t wait! I miss her & London so much!

Is it ever a good idea to move into the home of an estranged and deceased English relative?

After reading about the ghost that haunts this novel, I bet the protagonists wish they‘d said “don‘t haunt this place”. This is a gorgeous gothic novel that gets very weird and uncomfortable. A marmite book that some people can‘t stand. When I first finished it I felt squeamish but now I look back on it fondly. I wish Niffenger would write more novels!
Literally just finished the book last night. It was a pretty good combination of drama and supernatural suspense, in my opinion. The twists were pretty predictable, but I thought they were still executed pretty well. It was all in all a book that left me thinking a lot at the end. If you're sort of sensitive or an empath even with fictional characters, this book may be enjoyable but upsetting.
I *really* struggle with the choice to abandon books... especially when there‘s nothing abjectly wrong with them. I always feel like I might love them, given more time! Who knows??? But I‘m having a super-hard time sticking with “Her Fearful Symmetry.” So I think I‘m gonna do it. Be brave, Dear Heart! So many books, so little time! 😱
“Why do you have a cigarette lighter in your glove compartment?” her husband, Jack, asked her. “I‘m bored with knitting. I‘ve taken up arson,” Edie had replied. He‘d let it drop.
YES! Feisty, old women, FTW! ✊🏻👵🏻
Pictured: me & my grandma (my favorite feisty, old woman) & the family dog (who was less feisty & more a potato 🥔).
When Julia and Valentina move to London to live in their deceased aunt‘s flat they find its full of ghosts, including their aunt Elspeth. #Ghosts #OctoberXFiles
Not a book I‘d personally recommend but it works for the prompt. Couldn‘t help myself with the stickers. Got a very “wazzup” vibe going.

Two sets of twin sisters in this creepy tale!!!
🕸🕷🧛🏻♀️👻☠️🦇⚰️🧠🎃👯♀️
Another from the TBR. I loved Time Traveler‘s Wife so much that I feel like this one HAS to be amazing, but the reviews seem to say otherwise (thus, it has been languishing on the TBR). I #fear it won‘t measure up to my hopeful expectations. 😱😏 #readingresolutions
A character-rich tale that lulls at times but builds to an inevitable yet truly chilling conclusion. One of the best slow-burn ghost stories I‘ve read.
I read the Time Traveler‘s wife probably 10 years ago, and liked it. I saw this at the Library book sale and thought it looked interesting. Any thoughts?
Highgate Cemetery impressions part 2
Only mildly book related: Highgate Cemetery impressions part 1 - such a wonderfully atmospheric place. The pictures hardly do it justice.
#ReadingResolutions Day 14: This is definitely a #CoverLover. Found this at the #BigBadWolf Book Sale in KL. I also love how each page is all in black.
@Avanders you are amazing as always! I received this month‘s #coffeebeanbookclub package today. I 💕💕💕 all the extras you sent. The the tagged book was on my wish list and the other two look really good. Earl Grey is one of my favorite teas. And candy. Yay! Thank you so much!
A freaky book about #sisters. Not up to The Time Travelers Wife, but good. #150PnPCoverParty @CrowCAH @LeahBergen
Torn between a pick & so-so cos of that ending 😕
I had few expectations of this book in terms of plot. So most things were pleasant surprises. But that ending...it‘s jarring. And I feel like we didn‘t get enough time to adjust to Elspeth‘s trick. Or Elspeth & Edie‘s deception.
It‘s too bad, because there is a lot to like here. Niffenegger paces her story well, and has an inventive tale to tell. She just doesn‘t pull it off at the end.
The only good thing about this is that I have my book to keep me occupied while I wait.
A second book about twins in a week - what?!?!
Not necessarily an important number to land on, but the symmetry pleases me.
👻 👻 What the hell did I just read? I gave it two stars (or ghosts) and I think that might be pretty generous. Ghost stories are meant to be scary, not squicky. This...just no thank you.
My husband has brought to my attention that I like to say what something is 'supposed to be' and that I shouldn't do that. So I'm editing to say that I prefer ghost stories that are scary and not squicky. Sorry Audrey. Not telling you how to write your books. 🤐
One of these twins needed a serious #WakeUpCall #TuneIntoNovember
#uncannyoctober #spooky I love this creepy twin-centric novel set in one of favorite places in London.... Highgate cemetery... it‘s beautiful and spooky! 👻⚰️
Saturday night and I'm starting one that's been on the TBR for ages.
A very strange, grief filled book. A ghost story and family drama rolled into one. I loved the first 3/4 of the book. The ending? Just strange.
Robert lost Elspeth to Leukemia. When her twin nieces move into the London flat she left them, secrets are unraveled and plans are hatched with dire consequences. Upstairs, Martin's wife Marijke has left him due to his uncontrolled OCD. #LostLoves #JubilantJuly
I'm currently in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. We spent a full day in San Francisco before my flight and went two bookstores-Borderlands in the Mission and Dark Carnaval in Berkeley. I went a little crazy at both, but I only get there a couple times a year. #bookhaul. Good thing they all went back home instead of with me on the plane! The book I tagged is cut off- it's on top of the Cronin.
