Couldn‘t resist seeing this today, it was the throwback movie at my local theater this week
repost for @BarkingMadRead:
Ok #hashtagbrigade tomorrow we start Frankenstein!! Day 1 we will read the letters and then a chapter a day every day after. Can‘t wait to get started! I don‘t think I‘ve ever read this 😳

I‘m not sure if you know this about me, but I love zombies! 🧟♀️ As reanimation goes Frankie is my monster. I‘m curious if anyone would like to read along with me as I reread this one in October. 😍
This is such a small book with such big ideas. The Creature, although driven to perform evil deeds, is not in himself evil, which a lot of adaptations omit (I am looking forward to the new one to see if they change this). A lot of this book discusses the loneliness of existence and how others treat those who are different, which is relatable to many. Truly a masterpiece.
@barkingmadread is checking for interest in a buddy read of Frankenstein

Ok #hashtagbrigade it‘s time to start talking about Frankenstein! I‘m going to check out the chapters later today, but for now, who wants to join in for a chapter a day? Just remember that my hashtags are often ridiculous and always chapter spoilers, so don‘t read the post until you‘ve read the chapter!! Anyone can join in! Just drop a comment below!
I just picked up this new edition of Frankenstein at Barnes & Noble last night! Okay, if you are looking to purchase Frankenstein - this is the one to get! Not only does it have a cool cover and gorgeous page edges, but it also has the original introduction from Mary Shelley AND Polidori's and Byron's stories from the night Frankenstein was created! It's really awesome! 💕📚
My tbr list for #hauntedshelf #letsgopoints. Ambitious but I still have my other challenges ongoing, Octavia Butler books for #authoramonth and #Samoa books for #foodandlit. I‘m very excited about these books even though I know I won‘t get to them all. Must also include my #whattheDickens books!!
Rereads: Frankenstein, Dracula, books 1-2 of All Souls. I‘d love to finish all these books beyond the trilogy!
Thank you @PuddleJumper for the graphic.
All right #BlackCatCrew here are my Team Leader picks for #HauntedShelf for books: The Witches of Eastwick by John Updike, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley & The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty.
This isn't a buddy read. You can read these or any other Team Leaders book picks for an extra 15pts on top of whatever other points they count for 🐈⬛
First off, it was interesting that the book was a story within a story and had 3 narrators (Walton, Frankenstein, and the Creature). That was something I wasn‘t expecting but it worked.
The star of the story was the Creature (aka Frankenstein‘s monster). The Creature was the epitome of being othered. He was so misunderstood and just wanted to belong and feel loved.

Okay, so they think all of this is most likely cancer instead of a side effect of the radiation she had a year ago. She‘s going to have a radiation treatment tomorrow. In about a week, she could start getting the strength back in her legs, but the neurological symptoms could stay like they are now. The goal is to get her to where she can come back home. It‘s not the best news, but there is some hope. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
I have just discovered the joys of the Netflix show Wednesday this week… so now I am reading books that remind me of Wednesday!

Frankenstein
Atonement
The Forsyth Saga .....or Dorian Grey.

Bit late with a spooky read but still did it!
So unlike the popular tropes of Frankenstein and included swathes of nature descption and landscape.
I'd not read it before so feel it was needed.
This past Halloween was our 15th anniversary. Safe to say that man gets me
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Mary Shelley was a pioneering badass. It‘s difficult to grasp that she was 18 when penning this boldly and brilliantly written gothic horror tale; also considered one of the very first science fiction novels. Timeless themes along with creative structure and multiple points of view evoke an unexpected compassion. This was my fourth reading.
He sprang from the cabin window as he said this, upon the ice raft which lay close to the vessel. He was soon borne away by the waves and lost in darkness and distance.

This is my first time reading Frankenstein and I am loving it. It's so well written and suspenseful that I've already read a third of it in one sitting. I plan to curl up and finish the rest before I do anything else today. 💚
I love building Metal Earth models, and every year, the official retailer, Innovatoys, does a photo competition for Halloween. This year, I decided to sacrifice my windmill model to recreate the climax of Frankenstein. I used strips of muslin coated with bacon grease to make the fins flammable. I think it came out pretty good.
Current read.

Finally read Frankenstein last year and loved it!

#ReadAway2024 This is the book I chose for April‘s #TBRTarot prompt, “Choose a book which has become a TV show or movie.” My favorite adaptation of Frankenstein is a miniseries from the 1970s called “Frankenstein: The True Story.” Frankenstein is widely acknowledged as the first science fiction book. I‘m not sure what I expected but this was a pleasant surprise. Mary Shelley‘s writing is lovely. Victor, the so-called hero, wanted to (cont)⬇️

The famous book with the famous cover of a famous painting: THE WANDERER ABOVE THE SEA OF FOG by Casper David Friedrich (1818).
Highly recommend the audio narrated by Dan Stevens. So glad I finally read this classic.
