I read this classic decades ago and it was just so perfect I wish I could read it again for the first time.
I read this classic decades ago and it was just so perfect I wish I could read it again for the first time.
Read as a teenager, rereading as an adult. This one is still great! Not as brooding and moody as the first two. Plot moved along more. Really enjoyed Maharet and Jesse‘s stories. Didn‘t enjoy Daniel‘s part, Armand‘s fledgling and the one who wrote Interview for Louis. Akasha‘s plan to kill most of the male human population to save humans was intense.
#scarathlon reading plans out the window as soon as I came across The Queen of the Damned on tv. I just couldn‘t turn it off. Definitely calling for a reread!

Queen of the Damned - a movie based off a book! Bonus points, I also want to try out that (not pictured here) new Interview w/ Vampire TV series.
I am excited to revisit some classics this year, plus a few I am seeing on Netflix and Hulu that are new. We Have A Ghost look hilarious and perfect to get into that Halloween mood.
#bookspinbingo 😁 really enjoying delving back into the vampire chronicles, lestat is such a darkly comic character, love it!
Q is definitely my most ambivalent letter for #ManicMonday. I‘m firm on my book & show picks; otherwise, I‘m like 🤷♀️.
Book: The Queen of the Damned - Anne Rice
Author: I haven‘t read enough from Questlove to say if he‘s a FAVE, but he‘s got me intrigued.
Show: Queer Eye
Band: Queen? Probably?
Song: I only have 3 Q songs in my music library. Quand Vous Mourez de Nos Amours (Rufus Wainwright) and Quittin Time (The Band Perry) are both good.
Today was our first day of school and I almost forgot to post for today!
Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice
This was my favorite from her Vampire Chronicles. The movie was...eh...

The love for this book is real.
Out of all the Vampire Chronicles, Queen of the Damned is and will remain my favorite. The heart wrenching story of the twins, the world build up. It‘s just amazing. If you have never read it, I advise you read it at least once in your life. It‘s a work of pure magic.
I‘m on to the next one. 😍😍😍😍 This is definitely a re-read and one that I love to delve in to.
At least until I get more books. ❤️❤️❤️
While I'm organizing my journal, I'm watching one of my favorite vampires. (It is a toss up between Stuart Townsend as Lestat or Gerard Butler as Dracula for my favorite.)

As I used Lestat for the man prompt, now I go with Akasha for the #woman prompt ❣

Akasha, queen of the damned, is mesmerizing in the book and Aaliyah was so good playing her in the movie. (Can you imagine what else she could have gone on to do? so much talent💔) Akasha is beautiful and dangerous. You will love her and fear her, but either way she will mesmerize you.
😳I guess Litsy didn't approve my picture with Aaliyah, so here is a less risque one.
I decided to push on through and finish THE QUEEN OF THE DAMNED tonight (with minimal help from little Casimir. I think his reading buddy skills have atrophied). Now I‘m happy because I finished rereading another fave AND I had an excuse to consider the Asshole/Mopey Vampire dichotomy. (It‘s TOTALLY comparable to the Apollonian and the Dionysiac.) I‘m also at 10:24 for #deweyapril. Whee!
I didn‘t finish THE QUEEN OF THE DAMNED last night, as predicted, so I‘m plugging along through it today. While I love it as much as ever, Rice‘s syntax and the small font make it less than ideal #readathon fare. I‘ve got 125 pages left after my last reading sprint and I dunno if I‘ve got it in me to blast through that this evening. #deweyoct
More laksa alongside THE QUEEN OF THE DAMNED. I didn‘t get much reading time yesterday, so I don‘t think I can finish this before the Readathon starts tomorrow. Sadness. I always like to be between books at Hour 1.
This line has always made me laugh, because I‘m a lot younger than five hundred but I was absolute crap at phones until smartphones became a thing. I mean, seriously. Landlines are the worst, what with all those finicky commands and things.
(Though, to be perfectly honest, I have no idea how to link calls or whatever on my smartphone. I‘m probably still crap at ALL types of phones. Phone calls are the worst. Everybody should just text.)
It‘ll be a little while yet before I have SOULSTAR in hand, so I‘m diving into THE QUEEN OF THE DAMNED! The Vampire Chronicles were my second phase of April Books. I used to reread the whole series every year, after I stopped doing it with the Chronicles of Prydain and before I started doing it with Doctrine of Labyrinths. It‘s easily the longest non-comics series I‘ve ever latched onto, and it‘d take me the whole month to reread the lot.

i loved learning about the origins of how the vampires came to be, loved reading about The Twins. i almost freaked out when everyone was in the same room together, i couldn‘t handle it! anne rice is so on point w/ her mythology, how she can veer off to so many points in time in all different places around the world with so many different characters with different backgrounds & stories and just have it come full circle so beautifully.. “sigh”
Armand is terrifying but i love reading about him lol i was wondering when we were going to hear about what happened to Daniel Molloy. i‘m loving the dysfunctional relationship between the two lol i stayed up way to late reading (damn you anne rice *shakes fist*) the introduction chapter with Pandora was brutal! trying to read as much as i can before i have to do laundry :/
yay :) i‘ve been anxious to continue my vampire chronicles 🖤⚰️🥀❣️🔥🍷🐀
For me, the Queen of the #vampire novel will always be Anne Rice! 👑👿 I remember reading this series when I was just starting to get into my vampire phase (that I never really grew out of, lets be honest) and just completely falling in love with her writing. I try and reread these books every few years because I love them so much. 💕 I adore Lestat but my favorite vamp is Armand.

Finished watching the last in my mini #ScaryMovieMarathon I just love this movie, cliches, cheesy moments and all. There‘s a lot of movies in this genre with their own bits of cheese! Used up my last #freespace now I have to track down my dvds🕵🏻♀️ #HalloweenMovieBingo #Scareathlon #TeamSlaughter 2points #PointsTotal-284
Next in my mini #ScaryMovieMarathon is a bit cheesy but it has its charms. I read the Vampire books by Rice years ago, I think they were my first adult vampire books. #HalloweenMovieBingo #Scareathlon #TeamSlaughter 1point #PointsTotal-281
I‘m still trucking along in my #YearOfRice and I have some thoughts on this one:
- The movie has NOTHING on this book, and very little in common with it. 🤔
- LOVE the female characters added to the story! Maharet, Jesse, Pandora... yay!
- Anne Rice and her writing are no joke. 🙌🏻
- I love me some Louis, but Lestat is the man: ‘I can‘t help being a gorgeous fiend. It‘s just the card I drew.‘
On to the next!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nice to see some female vampires and to see more of Lestat's adventures.
I think I might be over this series for now
Got the house all to myself...let‘s get this party started! 🤓
“Come on, say it again. I‘m a perfect devil. Tell me how bad I am. It makes me feel so good!” Oh Lestat!!! He kills me This book was so much slower than the first 2 (maybe 200-300 pages of back story, really?) but I still enjoyed it

Mine's tagged. I find this book an absolutely amazing read. The mythology that Anne Rice created for this book and for the series is just amazing. Very realistic to the point where you want to look in the history books to see if some of it was real or not.
What's yours? 😃
“The spirit who inhabits her animates us all. Destroy the host, you destroy the power. The young die first; the old wither slowly; the eldest perhaps would go last. But she is the Queen of the Damned, and the Damned can't live without her.”

Found my Q book for #LitsyAtoZ! Didn‘t realize I had it. Do I need to read the first two books before I read this though?
Amazing story! This may be the best book in the series! Great characters, great storytelling, great mythology. Just an all around good book.
Using my #lotrchapteraday break to read the Vampire Chronicles. Currently enjoying the audio book.
