If you just heaved a contented sigh at Mr. Darcys heartfelt words, then you, dear reader, are in good company. Here is a delightful collection of never-before-published stories inspired by Jane Austenher novels, her life, her wit, her world. In Lauren Willigs A Night at Northanger, a young woman who doesnt believe in ghosts meets a familiar specter at the infamous abbey; Jane Odiwes Waiting captures the exquisite uncertainty of Persuasions Wentworth and Anne as they await her familys approval of their betrothal; Adriana Trigianis Love and Best Wishes, Aunt Jane imagines a modern-day Austen giving her niece advice upon her engagement; in Diana Birchalls Jane Austens Cat, our beloved Jane tells her nieces cat tales based on her novels; Laurie Viera Riglers Intolerable Stupidity finds Mr. Darcy bringing charges against all the writers of Pride and Prejudice sequels, spin-offs, and retellings; in Janet Mullanys Jane Austen, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! a teacher at an all-girls school invokes the Beatles to help her students understand Sense and Sensibility; and in Jo Beverleys Jane and the Mistletoe Kiss, a widow doesnt believe shell have a second chance at love . . . until a Miss Austen suggests otherwise. Regency or contemporary, romantic or fantastical, each of these marvelous stories reaffirms the incomparable influence of one of historys most cherished authors. Look for special features inside. This short story compilation of Austen inspired stories had some hits and some misses. I either love an Austen adaptation or loathe it and felt both while reading these stories. Mostly hits, so counting it as a pick!
#booked2019 A book gifted to you ( thanks @Mommamanzi !!!)

I heard about the #austeninaugust photo challenge too late to join😢, so I decided to do my own version by reading some adaptations that have been on my TBR for too long. I might even end the month with a reread of my favorite Austen, Pride and Prejudice!

monalyisha YUM. It's definitely almost lunch-time here! Haha. 3mo
sammisho @monalyisha This is a late breakfast for me! 3mo
Crinoline_Laphroaig It's never too late to join in! In whatever fashion that works for you! 3mo

I‘m a day late for #internationalcatday - but just in time for #namesakes for #austeninaugust2019 😸
Most of my companion animals over the years have been named after Jane Austen characters, and these two dorks are no exception. Elliot and Tilney have to be so cute, to make up for their general bratty behavior (she says after being woken up at 5:45 this morning by a extremely vocally hungry Tilney). Love them anyway. 😹😸😻 #catsoflitsy

MelissaSue81 They are ADORABLE!! Love the one of their little faces peeking off the shelf!
8little_paws oh these two little buddies! How sweet. 3mo

For the #24in48 literary loot challenge, a small sampling of my obsession with all things Austen. 💜
In other news, I‘m about 19 hours in and fairly confident I‘ll actually complete 24 hours by early evening! Thank goodness for audiobooks to help me through this weekend, as unexpected errands came up. 😄

OriginalCyn620 Love it!!! ❤️ 4mo

I had chocolate orange mousse for dinner. Don't judge me.😆The prettied up version will be on my blog tomorrow for my virtual foodie book club post. This one suffered from being pulled from the fridge a bit too soon so I could get the light & sitting while I cleaned up. It was still darn delicious & I did eat the orange from the pic too-so a pretty balanced meal!😋Jane Austen didn't make me do it, I'm just trying to get this library e-book read.

WorldsOkayestStepMom Is the squiggly metal thing a spoon? If it is, I need that in my life. 2y
DebinHawaii Yes! It's a demitasse spoon from a set I bought eons ago in London. I mainly use them for photo props and since it was already in the mousse... 😆 2y

Would have posted this earlier but I had computer issues & didn't get my #soupersundays blog post up before I left to have coffee with a friend. Weekend eats for me always includes soup-like this Vegetable Soup with Pearl Couscous & Salmon. Really good! 😋Did some #audiosouping & finished a book not on Litsy yet, then read few stories from the tagged book over lunch. Congratulations on your milestone @Booksandcooks 🎉👍Mahalo for the #12kgiveaway

Megabooks Deb, you have such great recipes, it‘s hard to pick a fav! Yum! 😋😋 2y

#TBRtemptation post 7! This is a collection of short stories inspired by Jane Austen--her novels, her life, her wits, her world. The list of contributors includes: Lauren Willig, Adriana Trigiani, Jo Beverley, Jane Odiwe, and Margaret C. Sullivan. There's all kinds of variety in these gems. For all Austen fans. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎

And finally - my first and most prolific #fanfic #homage love... with a #Goodreads shelf of over 100 titles 😆 Regardless of quality, I will devour anything related to Jane Austen 💜 #feistyfeb #fanfichomage

CrowCAH Go for it! 😊 I don't read too many Austen spinoffs, just cause I don't want to ruin the originals. Fav is P&P! 3y
RealLifeReading Wow I didn't know there were so many! 3y
Laura317 Ok the sea monster one cracks me up! 3y

LeahBergen I was just reading a chapter about all the fan fiction she inspired in this book 3y
Yamich49 SAME!! 3y
readinginthedark Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters is so good!!! 3y
DebinHawaii My favorites too! As much as I love the original, even the bad ones are fun to read. (Although I only have about 80 shelved.) 📚👍😆 3y
ThatBookishGal What would you recommend? I've read all of Austen's actual works and I loved them. I read pride and prejudice and zombies (and the sequels) and loved those. I read Elligible and loved it. I'm just so scared of reading those continuations...I don't want it to shatter my Austen bubble! 3y
Eyelit I understand the hesitancy @ThatBookishGal - there are some clunkers out there. I'd say start off with the books with essays/short stories and go from there. I started with a p&p dedicated book and branched off after that. You can check out my austentatious shelf on goodreads to see how I've rated the ones I've read. I did like An Assembly... series as it was from Darcy's pov (although the middle book kinda dragged) 3y
Eyelit @ThatBookishGal the Bebris mystery series is a funnish romp through Jane's works/characters as it has Elizabeth Darcy solving mysteries and interacting with characters from the other books 😃 3y
ThatBookishGal @Eyelit lol those sound awesome! Thanks! 3y
Eyelit @ThatBookishGal Also the book I tagged for the post is a good one too - mix of stories/essays 3y
Krisjericho Same! 3y

#readjanuary #page24ofyourcurrentread Jane Austen Made Me Do It is a short story collection from various authors, each inspired by Jane Austen and her works. Page 24 has the last paragraph for the first story, Jane Austen's Nightmare by Syrie James, in which Jane is visited by her unhappy characters. #shortstories

#readjanuary #bookandyourfavesnack I'm a sucker for a toasted sandwich (gluten free because I'm coeliac). Although I also love potato chips, cherries and blueberries, yoghurt, cheese and tomato on crackers, peanut butter smoothies, and homemade cakes. Guess I like food as much as I like books!

Some Jane Austen adaptations plus one book of literary criticism that features essays by authors on why they read Jane Austen. I have all Jane Austen's major novels on my Nook. Love Jane 💕#seasonsreadings2016

my #JaneAusten collection, including #adaptations, nestled in the classics. That beast there is not practical to read from, btw. #SeasonsReadings

Anyone who has known me more that ten minutes pretty much knows I love me some Jane Austen. I will consume just about anything Jane Austen related. I have a whole 'austenesque' shelf on Goodreads because I have read and will continue to read what is probably considered fanfiction. These are a few of my #favejaneaustenadaptations for today's #seasonsreadings2016

Betty I had NO idea so many authors copied Jane Austen 3y
Eyelit @Betty it's practically a whole industry 😆 3y
Libby1 Did you like Longbourn? Too many chilblains for me. 😬 3y
Eyelit @Libby1 I did like longbourn, though it did take me a while to really get into it. 3y
