I bought my grandma a copy for her 83rd birthday last week! 🎁

It‘s a sweet retelling of Sense and Sensibility set in Austin, TX. The heroine, Jane, is the middle sister. I loved the Torchy‘s Tacos references since I just ate at Torchy‘s for the first time last year! 🌮 And the language/plot lines are fully grandma-friendly. 😉

It wasn‘t super original; but it obviously wasn‘t meant to be. So 3.5 stars overall. #howjessreadsin2019

I couldn't stop reading! I loved the characters and the setting (I love Austin).

This has to be one of the better modern-day retellings of a Jane Austen novel I‘ve read. Sense & Sensibility was never a favourite of mine, but Lodge has done a great job adapting it for the present day. My only complaint is that by focussing almost exclusively on Jane (Marianne), Celia‘s character (Eleanor) was under developed. On the plus side, the reader is treated to Callum‘s (Col Brandon) point of view. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Easing into Sunday evening with this modern-day re-telling of Sense & Sensibility gifted to me by @FantasyChick I‘m enjoying It immensely so far 😊

Since it has been snowy and cold over the last 24 hrs, and my daughter keeps saying it feels like December, I‘m using one of my Christmas/winter mugs for my cup of Earl Grey ☕️

Sense & Sensibility set in modern day Austin, Texas told from the perspectives of Jane (Marianne reimagined as a prickly tea-shop owner) and Captain Callum Beckett (Colonel Brandon reimagined as a retired and wounded Marine). Fun #romantsy, and really enjoyable.

Perfect patio-read...a cute adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, but from the dual perspectives of the Marianne and Colonel Brandon stand-ins, Jane and Callum. It doesn't hurt that periodically, recipes are included for some of the food and drink that are included in the world of this tea-shop/bakery owner. Thanks again @Ddzmini !

This modern-day retelling of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility was one of my favorite reads of the month. I haven't read many but this one!!! Recommended by the lovely @abibliophilesstyle I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Jane felt like a friend who gets me when it comes to tea.

Fun, lighthearted modern day romance with hints of “Sense and Sensibility”.

Loved this book. If you live in Texas and are familiar with Austin read this! Torchys Tacos even makes a couple of appearances. As you read you get recipes and each chapter has a quote that relates to Texas or tea. Loved this read

Have you read Sense & Sensibility? Modernize that to present day & you have this great book. This novel sneaks up on you. It begins as a quiet little story, then you find yourself charmed by clever allusions and endearing characters. The true value of this book, however, comes from the author‘s relationship with her Austenian characters. A pleasant and delicious read for modern audiences.

A modern twist on a Jane Austen style plot. I was wondering how this could work and not be a mirror image of the story, but the author does a great job of modernizing and making the story unique, while also giving a nod to the tried and true Sense and Sensibility plot line. If you are looking for a book with romance, relationships, heartache and manly heroes pto the rescue then you will not be dissapointed! #contemporaryromance #summerreading
