As soon as I read the synopsis for this book, I was sold. Went to my book store and bought it because I didn‘t want to wait for the library. Now I‘m reading it and can hardly follow because of the vocabulary this guy is using. I‘m really hoping I can get into this book because it sounds so promising!

For some reason it took me forever to read this book, despite all of the amazing reviews and hype. I was surprised when I found it to be a bit slow. Don‘t get me wrong, I didn‘t see the twist and I couldn‘t put it down, it‘s just not what I was expecting. Still a great and entertaining read.

I can‘t recommend this book enough. Just finished it and I believe it might be my new favorite from SK. It‘s not his normal scary horror, instead it‘s more of a psychological thriller. It had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn‘t put it down!

ElizaMarie I got this book a couple days ago (maybe a couple weeks, time just flies by lately) but I can't wait to start it. I have a couple more that I want to finish up first.
I am glad to see all the great reviews of this!

I feel like I‘m having a dilemma. I have two library holds that came in on the same day (how does this always happen to me?) and both books are pretty lengthy. Now, I‘m stressing that I won‘t be able to finish them both, so I‘m going back and forth between them but feel like I‘m reading them so slowly! UGH! THE ANXIETY! I think I‘m just going to have pick one and stick with it. And request the other one in the future. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I love the way Ruth weaves her stories. I found myself guessing and jumping to conclusions (none of which were right) more then the main character. And she knows how to read the readers just right. I remember thinking this book was starting to drag some and then the character said “I know I you‘re wondering where I‘m going with all of this.”
Another great book by Ruth Ware. I really enjoyed it.

After reading this book, my son is never leaving my sight. This is every parents worst nightmare, a missing child.
The book is written from Rachel (mother) and DI Jim Clemo and focuses on the pain and panic of the timeline for a missing child. It also shows how social media can twist perspective even when they don‘t have facts and hurt the parties involved.
I really enjoyed this read and didn‘t figure out the kidnapper so that‘s a plus!

No judgement here right? 😂 because i judge myself enough.

Do y‘all have certain books you read almost every year with certain seasons? Like those books just bring in that season for you? Twilight is one of those books for me. I also watch the movies (even though they are terrible) when they come on TV. It means fall is here along with cooler weather. They go hand in hand. What are your season go to‘s?!

monalyisha Ha! I‘ve read Twilight more than once. It‘s the perfect/absolute worst book to read post-break-up. 😅 6y
Balibee146 Ha ha I gave my copies away and wish I'd kept them to do just this..... I know I 'shouldn't' but I've never been one to obey the shoulds in life ❤️❤️ 6y

Derf The Wheel of Time, every time I‘m In a reading slump 🤦🏻‍♂️ always gets me back on track though 😊 6y
BeautifullyBookish Honestly same! I just reread this series for the first time as an “adult” ( yes I use that term loosely) and it is so cringeworthy in some places. But it does remind me of how I felt the first time I read it! It reminds me of how I went from book loather to book lover. It opened my mind and imagination. Now I can look back on it and appreciate how far I‘ve come. 5y
Jenni_Capps @BeautifullyBookish Yess!! You get me!! I‘ll never forget going to the library in high school (yes, it took me that long to find my love for reading.) and getting the books and my parents being so shocked that I would read for hours and hours! 5y

If this book is on your TBR.... Don‘t waste your time. One of the worst books I‘ve read in a while. Anticlimactic, boring, repetitive, dull. Even the “twist”, if you can even call it that, was less than shocking. I kept reading in hopes that it would get better butttttt I should have bailed after all.

Did anyone else struggle with this one? Please tell me it gets better. I‘m 150 pages in and begging for a point to this book. I feel like I‘ve been on “the day of the barbecue” for a month now and the characters just keep repeating themselves. It‘s dull! That climax better be something.

TheBookstorePodcast I listened to it and I didn‘t think it was bad, but I can definitely see how actually reading it would make it seem endless. The structure can be pretty redundant. (edited) 6y

I am FINALLY coming out of my reading slump, this has by far been my longest one. Anyway, onto the review. This book made my skin crawl, it is not all that far fetched at all and truly terrifying. It really made me think and try to put myself in Grace‘s shoes as to what I would do and how i could get out. This was definitely a fast paced thriller. I have seen where this has been compared to TGOTT, the whole unreliable/drunk/ unstable narrator. Butttt I liked this WAY more than TGOTT, so if that is holding you back, don‘t let it. Most of the story builds with Anna inside her house and some might find that part dragging but it was very intriguing the way the author did everything. I saw a couple of the twists but the big one left me SHOOK! Loved it!
