Somehow I‘ve never read this. I‘ve seen the movies, preferring the OG, a they‘re good, but vampires don‘t really scare me. This, though…had some creepy moments. I expect nothing less from Uncle Stevie!

Testing out some earbuds that go over my ear for use on an upcoming vacation and the gym. I've got about 45 listening minutes left on the tagged book, but I had to admire the leaves on this little tree in the park. It's leaves are still hanging on & the sunlight and blue skies really make the red pop!

I‘d been searching for this book for quite awhile and finally found it on vacation in Maine! Quite fitting I thought! Ben Mears comes back to Jerusalems Lot many years after experiencing an incident that‘s stuck with him ever since. Once he arrives into town, strange things begin to happen, a young boy goes missing and death is floating around every corner. As usual, Kings cute small towns are always full of secrets. Classic King and recommend!

Time for some spookier haikus.

King‘s gift for building tension (and characters) to ultimately deliver climactic blows of horror and heartbreak is legendary. And this, his second novel, certainly helped establish that reputation. Loved it.

Also, I‘m excited now to try and watch at least one of the screen adaptations before month‘s end.

Can't believe we're heading into the last week of January! 😱

“ 'SALEM'S LOT has to do with my own disillusionment and consequent fear for the future. In a way, it is more closely related to INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS than it is to DRACULA. The fear behind 'SALEM'S LOT seems to be that the Government has invaded everybody“ (King).

A writer who can take the time to get me to care about the characters and then horrifically dispose of some of them is a truly gifted writer indeed. He is THE KING.

“Almost everyone thought the man and the boy were father and son.“

My favorite part of this book was the traps at the Marsten house. The only deduction on this book was for a few not safe parts. My mom and I think that parts of the story were different depending on the edition. I cannot recall the evil baby. Stephen might have excluded it. The mystery of the Marsten house was fascinating and dark in a good way. There are a lot of characters. Floyd got what he deserved.

Stephen King's classic vampire novel and one of my favorites. I love the characters, Matt is my favorite 🧛🏻‍♂️

This was my first time reading this edition of ‘Salem‘s Lot. This book includes a section of deleted scenes from the original manuscript, the short stories One for the Road and Jerusalem‘s Lot, and black and white photography in the section breaks.

This is still one of my favorite vampire novels.

It took a minute to get to the point in this one, but once it got going it was great. So fun to read this right after Dracula. I‘m impressed that King has had a consistent voice and style for over 50 years. #LosersClub

Started this today and the forward read by the author was so good. It was about his mom and her willingness to get him what he wanted to read when he was young. #LosersClub

Really good, funny how King was somewhat self referential on his 2nd published book.

Scary vampires take over a small town & it‘s up to a few characters (including a writer, teacher & comic book obsessed kid) to fight back.

I love a scary, “classic rules” vampire.
I lost track of some of the towns people here or there but it was a good read. #losersclub @BarkingMadRead

The type of monsters described in this one don‘t usually scare me, but Stephen King really is the king of horror lol. I really enjoyed it, even though horror is not usually what I go for, and Stephen King never disappoints. I was entranced and kept wanting to turn the pages to see what would happen next. Of course, it gets gorey, so now I‘m ready for a palate cleanser lol.

So creepy and so good. King just writes the most delicious sentences sometimes, here‘s one of my favorites: But when fall comes, kicking summer out on its treacherous ass as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed.

November's #LosersClub #buddyread was a very atmospheric read. Very creepy, disturbing but thrilling read. It's my 1st time reading this and it's one of his best horror books.
I particularly enjoyed the nod to Bram Stoker with the epistolary record of Charles Boone, 1850. It certainly added more context to the longevity of evil at 'Salem's Lot.

A great vampire story perfect for spooky season! I‘ll admit the first part it‘s difficult to keep track of all the new characters but as the story goes on and gets darker it‘s easy to see how each met their end in ‘Salem‘s Lot.
