Finally gave this one a re-read! I read it first when I was a kid, forgot everything that happened in it, and loved it just as much this time around! If you‘re looking for a good middle-grade fantasy, this is one to look out for. Fills the #frostythesnowman prompt for #averymerrybingo @Jadams1776
If you like books that are filled to the brim with comedy, friendship and loveable characters, Magyk is for you. This is the first book in a series by Angie Sage. This story follows the Heap family; composed of Sarah and Silas Heap, 6 sons and one adopted daughter. Jenna, the daughter, was a baby found alone in the snow the night that Silas's seventh son was born. When Silas returned home with the baby girl, he was shocked to see the midwife rush-
Middle school Sara would have devoured this book. And adult me still loved it 😂 It was such a great story in a fun magykal world. I can't wait to read the whole series!
I really, really wanted to like this book, but I just struggled to focus on it. It ended up feeling more like a chore than a joy. Maybe I‘ll come back to it and read it later, but right now, I just I‘m not excited about it.
🎧 I really enjoyed this book, I didn‘t think I would but I did. I bought the hardcover for my home library. Sort of Harry Potter on the run. It felt familiar as it uses some words that were used in HP. It‘s a kid book but so was HP. It‘s for about the same age range. It‘s worth a read. I‘m not comparing it to HP I‘m just saying that while reading Magyk you may occasionally be reminded of HP. Anyone else have a HP read-a-like? ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
#QuotsyOct19 Day 31: #Spell
This is one of my fave series but stopped in Book 3 or 4. I should revisit the books soonest!
I wasn‘t sure what to expect with this story, but I was very pleasantly surprised! The tale was neatly interwoven, not overly complex, and overall lighthearted. There are ups and downs, thrills and laughs - I enjoyed it!
It was the beginning of a series, but you could easily read this and not have to continue (though I very well might).
Excellent week 1 Team #BFC! 🙌🏻
As you can see, I didn‘t quite make my goals. But that‘s okay. I have something to aim for next week.
Adapt & change, but don‘t quit. And if you‘re struggling, please post so your team can help you!
Optional photo challenge for week 2: post a photo of something that motivates you & tell us why it motivates you.

Audiobook 1/6 finished for #BFC. My full review of the book on GR: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/2503568790. The short version is it was entertaining but not so much that I‘ll pick up book 2.
On the fitness front, did 3 miles tonight, 10.4 total since Friday. I have hit 10k steps every day & have done my 10 min of yoga every morning. I‘m already feeling better. 😀🙌🏻
#BookFitnessChallenge
Despite a morning headache and sinus issues, I did my 10 min morning yoga. This afternoon, Dexter & I completed a 2.5 mile hike.
And despite its predictability, I‘m enjoying Magyk. The audiobook is read by Allen Corduner, who has a pleasant voice. (Of course, I can always listen to anyone with an English accent.)
#BookFitnessChallenge #BFC
Pretty good first day of #BFC (and it‘s not quite over, so my step total will be a bit higher). I walked Dexter 1 mile, started listening to the tagged, and I‘m still reading Going Postal.

1. Right now it‘s 🙌🏻💜😂
2. Nope.
3. #MayMadness reading, #BookFitnessChallenge, & working on my #MysteryMessageSwap
4. I‘m last, but I really grew up an only child because my siblings (halfsies) are 12 & 14 years older than me.
5. 🙌🏻
This book is great so far such a fun read and it has kept me wanting to pick it up every chance I get
“The Ramblings, which was where Silas, Sarah and the boys lived, was a huge stone building that rose up along the riverside. It sprawled for three miles along the river and back again into the Castle and was a noisy, busy place filled with a warren of passages and rooms, with small factories, schools and shops mixed in with family rooms, tiny roof gardens and even a #theater.”

So far so good! I‘ve had this lying around from when I was 11 or 12 and had never gotten around to reading it. Picked it up the other day looking for a light read and I‘m thoroughly enjoying it- has a Harry Potter feel to it, lots of wizards and magic. Fun read, would recommend!
Having some "Magyk"al time with my daughter. We started reading the first Septimus Heap book.
#raisingreaders
1. I used to just read one, but over the last few years I‘ve regularly been reading 4 or 5 at once, so I‘ve gotten used to going back and forth!
2. Sometimes it‘s really clear like watching a movie, other times it‘s just bits and pieces of image & sound like a dream.
3. Outside, but usually close (like a movie).
4. So many! I loved fantasy books like Harry Potter & Septimus Heap, so those for sure 🔮🧙🏻♀️
@nu-bibliophile #OnlyReadersUnderstand
The kiddos and I found this a week ago for about a dollar and are really excited to read it together. Anyone know about the Septimus Heap series?
#SeptimusCat was looking so cute I decided to use him for the #PayItForward giveaway. #CatsOfLitsy
Wonderful story. Angie really knows how to create a universe for you to get lost in. You follow young Jenna and Septimus and really get hooked into their stories.
So, this is my third time reading the first book in Septimus Heap & I am determined to finally finish the series (the first book really is good, despite my fickle reading habits)!! In other news, I read all of the Shannara books -- YAY 😄 -- & am now starting to realize that a majority of my life goals involve reading very long, time-consuming fantasy series 😁🐲
Hey look, it's my childhood! Would definitely recommend this series for kids. It's a lot of fun,and it didn't impair my spelling much either! Promise!

Can't believe I hadn't read this yet! Excellent. Can't wait to read the next.
Not bad. Kindof annoying being able to easily identify the inspirations for several characters. I'm interested enough to keep checking these out from the library, but probably wouldn't buy them.
Another #currentlyreading! I've been wanting to revisit this series for a long time. It used to be a favorite of mine. :)

@RealLifeReading
Only a few books. Some from the "will never get rid of them" shelf and some from my TBR.
Enjoyed this read. But it's pretty heavily related to the potterverse and it kind of made me just want to reread Harry Potter. However, I am going on to book 2. Likeable characters and intriguing plot. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Current read, really enjoying so far!
One of my favourite fantasy series. Perfect for snuggling with on rainy nights like these. #somethingforsept #mapsinbooks
