Decisions, Decisions, Decisions: Seeking God's Will | Keith Kenebrew
35 posts | 1 to read
We all face many choices during our lifetimes, and making conscientious decisions that reflect God's will is key to leading a productive and spiritually-fulfilling life. But how are good decisions developed and executed? In Decisions, Decisions, Decisions, author Keith Kenebrew provides a guide to seeking God's will when you are facing difficult choices. Whether your choice involves choosing a new career or determining if you are ready for marriage, Kenebrew encourages you to make Christ-like choices by asking yourself, How does Jesus Christ factor into the equation? By including quotes from Scripture, Kenebrew provides answers to common questions, such as, Can God bless this choice? He also summarizes the eight general principles he considers most important when seeking God's will. You will learn how to: - Pray constantly - Test your actions against Scripture - Seek options and guidance - Count the cost - Recognize, know, and discern the will of God - Yield to the will of God - Wait on God - Know when to act Christians at all levels of spiritual growth will find Decisions, Decisions, Decisions a stimulating and useful guide for their everyday decision-making.

Trying to decide between these two for my long train ride home during Thanksgiving.

Opinions?

Deblovestoread Chain Gang was so good. One of my faves from last year. 6d
ChaoticMissAdventures I really liked the first quarter of Rouge then struggled. But Chain-Gang? A bit violent but I absolutely loved all of it. It might be a bit close to home right now but I still recommend it. 5d
Billypar I'm a little biased - I love everything Mona Awad writes, including Rouge. And I didn't like most of the stories in Friday Black (but I did read an essay by Adjei-Brenyah in an anthology recently that I liked). 5d

Homeschooling my 9th grade son & this year we decided to buddy read books together as part of our language arts curriculum. We‘ve read True Biz, Marrow Thieves, and just finished Devil in the Dark Water. I present him with a varied stack (this one today!) & he reads the blurbs then selects one he vibes with. Which would you pick from this stack?

TEArificbooks I homeschool my kids too. For my 11th grader we buddy read together. This year we are doing British lit. I picked 10 authors to read going in order of publication and he picks the book per author. My 6th grader I do it the same way you do. I give him a stack and let him pick. He doesn‘t like fiction much but this method gets him to read fiction. 9mo
jdiehr One Thousand White Women is excellent! 9mo
TheBookKeepers @TEArificbooks yes it‘s a nice “trick” to get them excited to read a book of our choosing 😂 9mo
TheBookKeepers I‘ve had it on my TBR for a while! I may have to read it without him haha. It landed in his no pile bc of romance @jdiehr 9mo

Going back and forth on which should be my next read. I'm a huge fan of both authors and confident I will enjoy both of them, but one has got to come first. Any suggestions?

Coleen I‘ve only ever read one by Eskens, and that was the one. At the time he was a new-to-me author. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it quite a lot! 2y
FortunateSon @Coleen I've read 'The Life We Bury' (which was outstanding!) and 'The Guise of Another'. Eskens is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Thanks for the comment! 2y

Am I the only one who takes a ridiculous amount of time to decide what to read next? Seriously, I‘d be half way through my next read if I didn‘t spend so much time looking at all the books on my shelves and reading apps trying to decide. Yep, I‘m a mood reader who sometimes can‘t decide what mood I‘m in even! 😜 I envy those of you who regularly create TBR piles and stick to them! 📚❤️

Tamra I am a mood reader so I plan nothing! 😅 Sometimes I know what I really want to read next if I‘m excited about something. But yes, it can take while. Usually I spend more time reading about books and adding to my TBR! 3y

#FurrowedMiddleBrowClub I picked out these two by Elizabeth Eliot … please vote for the one you‘d like to read for January. Thanks, Cathy X

erzascarletbookgasm Both sound intriguing… I vote 3y
batsy I've been looking up these titles and other Eliot books; intriguing indeed! I'm also voting for 3y

quietjenn It's pretty much a toss-up for me, so I'll vote for the one with the best opening line - 3y
LeahBergen Oh, lovely! 👏🏻👏🏻 I own both so I‘d be fine with either but… I‘ll vote for 3y
CarolynM They both sound fabulous and I'd be happy with either, but the reference to running away to the circus makes me lean slightly towards 3y

LeahBergen @Cathythoughts @erzascarletbookgasm @batsy @rubyslippersreads @quietjenn @CarolynM @Ruthiella So (if we‘re going by our original club of 8 voting list) it would appear that Cecil has one more vote than Henry. 😄 That will be our January read and we‘ll save poor old Henry for another month. Yes? 3y
LeahBergen @Ruthiella has our March pick and @batsy has our May pick. That has given us all one round of picks! 3y
CarolynM @LeahBergen Works for me. @SamanthaMarie Do you want to join us for this one? 3y

And you, too, @BookNAround ! I know some of you just like to be notified in case you can find the time to read along with us that month, so … no pressure! 3y
Cathythoughts @LeahBergen Yes thanks 👍🏻 Cecil it is then !! I‘m delighted you‘re joining in January @Tamra 😘 and @sarahbellum @catebutler 👏🏻👏🏻 (edited) 3y

Okay all, here are my selections for #lmpbc #round12 #groupF. I‘ll tag each of the books below so you can get more info. I took my nephews to the book store this morning and then through my bookshelf and they helped pull the list together. Also While I know 2 of you can I get your pronouns?

Now that April's #botm are live, I don't know what to pick. I'm leaning towards People We Meet or Arsenic and Adobo. But. I'm not sure. I also think I'd really like When the Stars Go Dark (but I have it on hold on audio at the library with an 8 week wait). And some of the others sound amazing too. 😬

What are you getting?

CBee I read When the Stars recently (got it from Net Galley) and it was really good 👏🏻👏🏻 4y
TheLibrarian All of them 😂 4y
Traci1 @CBee I decided to add that one to my box, and it had sold out. ☹ 4y

Traci1 @TheLibrarian tempting. 😁 4y
CBee @Traci1 oh shoot!! Maybe next month 🤷‍♀️😊 4y
The_Heeler_Booklife Dang it they didn‘t have The Fire Keeper‘s Daughter up when I checked out! 4y
Traci1 @CBee yeah. I can wait. Or I may just get it from the indie shop near me instead. 4y
Traci1 @The_Heeler_Booklife aw that stinks. I almost added that one just because it's so pretty. But I figured it'd probably have that Reese sticker right over the picture, and I really hate that. 4y
CBee @Traci1 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 4y
TheLibrarian @Traci1 When the Stars was sold out for me too on the website but not the app. Sometimes they come back in stock within a few days. I know BOTM had a slight glitch earlier where you could make add-ons your main pick so maybe that had something to do with it? 4y

I need to choose a book for bookclub and am feeling indecisive. This stack was compiled from the hundreds on my #TBR shelves.

I‘d welcome any input 🤗📚🙏. To give you some context, so far this year we‘ve read 1984, Henrietta Lacks & now Catch 22.

I‘d be happy to hear some alternate recommendations provided they are easily available for purchase online.

KarouBlue If you‘re looking for uplifting with a dash of good fun: 5y
KarouBlue If you love a good plot twist: 5y
Librariana My votes would be for The Night Circus (read that one with my book club many moons ago and need a re-read!), Little Fires Everywhere (I *LOVED* "Everything I Never Told You"... made Ng an auto-buy author for me and this one is on my TBR), and the Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle sounds very intriguing! 5y
See All 8 Comments
MrsMalaprop @MellieAntoinette Thanks. I am feeling that something uplifting & a little lighter could be good 😊. 5y
LeeRHarry All the votes to Eucalyptus! 😊 5y
Hooked_on_books Little Fires Everywhere would be a great choice. It‘s a terrific book and there‘s lots to talk about. 5y
Lizpixie I loved The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle, it‘s like a meld of Clue, Dame Agatha & Groundhog Day.👍 5y
Rissreads As you know I adored On earth (but it is brutal, so maybe too heavy?) I really enjoyed 7 deaths and Eucalyptus is in my bookspin 20 books and has been all year! Maybe it will come up in May? I‘ve heard great things about The night circus and Gentleman. I can‘t wait to see what you go with! 5y

Help me decide. I love my online reading groups (3 on Goodreads - Chunksters, Tea and Scones, Chewing Leaves). I finished all my challenges except 1 (have 15 left. I want to do Booked2020 again, Century Reads, US, and Read Harder. I just asked to join 2 more discussions - Children's Classics and Camilla Lachberg. I also do the lmpbc. Love it ALL

My quandary - I want to join @MrBook and @BarbaraTheBibliophage

What to do? What to do?

Butterfinger I need an intervention. 5y
ReadingOver50 One year I did too many challenges and felt I wasn‘t reading for fun, just to complete prompts. So now I limit myself to one or two challenges only. 5y
Butterfinger @ReadingOver50 I do it to fulfill a need. I feel like there is something missing in my life. I want to go back to school. It's my heart's desire, but it isn't what is best for my family. My oldest goes to college next year and my youngest needs me more at home. So instead of getting my doctorate, the challenges fit that need. Thank you so much for listening to me vent. 5y
MrBook Do what you want and what you‘re comfortable doing. We‘re all here for you. 🤗 5y
sprainedbrain I‘m a challenge addict, so I‘m probably no help. I am pairing down a little this year, but couldn‘t resist the mysteries and memoirs with Barbara... 😊 5y
