Decisions, Decisions, Decisions: Seeking God's Will | Keith Kenebrew
33 posts | 1 to read
We all face many choices during our lifetimes, and making conscientious decisions that reflect God's will is key to leading a productive and spiritually-fulfilling life. But how are good decisions developed and executed? In Decisions, Decisions, Decisions, author Keith Kenebrew provides a guide to seeking God's will when you are facing difficult choices. Whether your choice involves choosing a new career or determining if you are ready for marriage, Kenebrew encourages you to make Christ-like choices by asking yourself, How does Jesus Christ factor into the equation? By including quotes from Scripture, Kenebrew provides answers to common questions, such as, Can God bless this choice? He also summarizes the eight general principles he considers most important when seeking God's will. You will learn how to: - Pray constantly - Test your actions against Scripture - Seek options and guidance - Count the cost - Recognize, know, and discern the will of God - Yield to the will of God - Wait on God - Know when to act Christians at all levels of spiritual growth will find Decisions, Decisions, Decisions a stimulating and useful guide for their everyday decision-making.

Going back and forth on which should be my next read. I'm a huge fan of both authors and confident I will enjoy both of them, but one has got to come first. Any suggestions?

Coleen I‘ve only ever read one by Eskens, and that was the one. At the time he was a new-to-me author. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it quite a lot! 4mo
FortunateSon @Coleen I've read 'The Life We Bury' (which was outstanding!) and 'The Guise of Another'. Eskens is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. Thanks for the comment! 4mo

Am I the only one who takes a ridiculous amount of time to decide what to read next? Seriously, I‘d be half way through my next read if I didn‘t spend so much time looking at all the books on my shelves and reading apps trying to decide. Yep, I‘m a mood reader who sometimes can‘t decide what mood I‘m in even! 😜 I envy those of you who regularly create TBR piles and stick to them! 📚❤️

Tamra I am a mood reader so I plan nothing! 😅 Sometimes I know what I really want to read next if I‘m excited about something. But yes, it can take while. Usually I spend more time reading about books and adding to my TBR! 10mo

#FurrowedMiddleBrowClub I picked out these two by Elizabeth Eliot … please vote for the one you‘d like to read for January. Thanks, Cathy X

erzascarletbookgasm Both sound intriguing… I vote 12mo
batsy I've been looking up these titles and other Eliot books; intriguing indeed! I'm also voting for 12mo
rubyslippersreads I‘m fine with either, with a slight preference for 12mo
See All 24 Comments
quietjenn It's pretty much a toss-up for me, so I'll vote for the one with the best opening line - 12mo
LeahBergen Oh, lovely! 👏🏻👏🏻 I own both so I‘d be fine with either but… I‘ll vote for 12mo
CarolynM They both sound fabulous and I'd be happy with either, but the reference to running away to the circus makes me lean slightly towards 12mo
Ruthiella I literally flipped a coin- TAILS for (edited) 12mo
LeahBergen @Cathythoughts @erzascarletbookgasm @batsy @rubyslippersreads @quietjenn @CarolynM @Ruthiella So (if we‘re going by our original club of 8 voting list) it would appear that Cecil has one more vote than Henry. 😄 That will be our January read and we‘ll save poor old Henry for another month. Yes? 12mo
LeahBergen @Ruthiella has our March pick and @batsy has our May pick. That has given us all one round of picks! 12mo
CarolynM @LeahBergen Works for me. @SamanthaMarie Do you want to join us for this one? 12mo
Ruthiella Also @catebutler , @Tamra , and @sarahbellum if you are interested in reading along with us in January 2022? 😃 12mo
Tamra Yes, I‘d love to join in January! 👏🏾 Thank you @Ruthiella 😁 (edited) 12mo
quietjenn @LeahBergen sounds good! 12mo
catebutler @Ruthiella Yes please! I‘d love to join in. 12mo
sarahbellum @Ruthiella Yes, please continue to keep me in the loop 🙂 12mo
LeahBergen @Tamra @catebutler @sarahbellum Oh, good! Let us know if you want to be added to the “official” 😉 list so you are added into the rotation of choosing our reads. And you, too, @BookNAround ! I know some of you just like to be notified in case you can find the time to read along with us that month, so … no pressure! 12mo
Cathythoughts @LeahBergen Yes thanks 👍🏻 Cecil it is then !! I‘m delighted you‘re joining in January @Tamra 😘 and @sarahbellum @catebutler 👏🏻👏🏻 (edited) 12mo

Tamra @LeahBergen thank you! I think for now I‘ll stick to the hod hoc schedule until I‘m free of classes. 🙃 12mo
SamanthaMarie @CarolynM Yes I do!! I'm still trying to read this month's as well. We've just had a series of busy weeks so I've been reading fluff 😅 12mo
LeahBergen @Tamra Yes, I figured that would be the case as you‘ve been so busy with your course readings! 12mo

Okay all, here are my selections for #lmpbc #round12 #groupF. I‘ll tag each of the books below so you can get more info. I took my nephews to the book store this morning and then through my bookshelf and they helped pull the list together. Also While I know 2 of you can I get your pronouns?

LibrarianRyan This is about plus sized mermaids and from the same person who did Snapdragon. 1y
LibrarianRyan This author has a new book out this month. Or maybe next. 1y
LibrarianRyan Bought this for the cover 1y

LibrarianRyan Bought for the covers. (edited) 1y
LibrarianRyan The boys picked out. I believe it‘s an original story. 1y
peanutnine (she/her) These all sound delightful, but especially Thirsty Mermaids and Fake Blood 🙂 1y
bibliobard She/Her and my pick would be either Thirsty Mermaids or Fake Blood. 1y
WanderingBookaneer I loved Snapdragon. I‘d love to read 1y
WanderingBookaneer I have read When the Stars Are Scattered and 1y
WanderingBookaneer Hi! My wife never forwarded the email with the addresses. I went into her email and couldn‘t find it. Can you please send it to me? Jaimitapr@yahoo.com Thank you! 1y
WanderingBookaneer Thanks! I had misspelled her email address. 🤦🏻‍♀️ 1y
LibrarianRyan @WanderingBookaneer I'm so dense I didn't even see you added it. I just had your email from previous communications and went from there. 😂 1y

Jadams1776 Chainsaw Man is on my TBR, but all of them sound good to me! 1y
Shadowfat Skeleton Knight or Chainsaw man look good to me! 1y
wisherwishinguponastar Chainsaw Man sounds great! But I am going to need to put some of these on my TBR. 1y
wisherwishinguponastar Also, I just realized that “kdonohue89” is an old Litsy account that I forgot about! Oops! Better fix that! 1y
LibrarianRyan @booksellerofyourdiscontent cool. I didn‘t catch that. I‘ll get it corrected. 1y

Now that April's #botm are live, I don't know what to pick. I'm leaning towards People We Meet or Arsenic and Adobo. But. I'm not sure. I also think I'd really like When the Stars Go Dark (but I have it on hold on audio at the library with an 8 week wait). And some of the others sound amazing too. 😬

What are you getting?

CBee I read When the Stars recently (got it from Net Galley) and it was really good 👏🏻👏🏻 2y
TheLibrarian All of them 😂 2y
Traci1 @CBee I decided to add that one to my box, and it had sold out. ☹ 2y
See All 11 Comments
Traci1 @TheLibrarian tempting. 😁 2y
CBee @Traci1 oh shoot!! Maybe next month 🤷‍♀️😊 2y
The_Heeler_Booklife Dang it they didn‘t have The Fire Keeper‘s Daughter up when I checked out! 2y
Traci1 @CBee yeah. I can wait. Or I may just get it from the indie shop near me instead. 2y
Traci1 @The_Heeler_Booklife aw that stinks. I almost added that one just because it's so pretty. But I figured it'd probably have that Reese sticker right over the picture, and I really hate that. 2y
CBee @Traci1 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 2y
TheLibrarian @Traci1 When the Stars was sold out for me too on the website but not the app. Sometimes they come back in stock within a few days. I know BOTM had a slight glitch earlier where you could make add-ons your main pick so maybe that had something to do with it? 2y
Tera66 Arsenic and Adobo for me! 2y

I have a few hours of uninterrupted time to continue reading The Dining Car or listening to Storm Front, but I'm not terribly enthusiastic about either one. 🤦‍♀️

Help me decide. Which novel should I read next?

Enchanted_Bibliophile Looks the most magical. 3y
LazyOwl Thanks for the votes. I started reading The Unspoken Name. I think my next read after this might just be warbreaker as you can't go wrong with Brandon Sanderson. @Enchanted_Bibliophile @Eyelit @xicanti @UnidragonFrag 3y

I need to choose a book for bookclub and am feeling indecisive. This stack was compiled from the hundreds on my #TBR shelves.

I‘d welcome any input 🤗📚🙏. To give you some context, so far this year we‘ve read 1984, Henrietta Lacks & now Catch 22.

I‘d be happy to hear some alternate recommendations provided they are easily available for purchase online.

KarouBlue If you‘re looking for uplifting with a dash of good fun: 3y
KarouBlue If you love a good plot twist: 3y
Librariana My votes would be for The Night Circus (read that one with my book club many moons ago and need a re-read!), Little Fires Everywhere (I *LOVED* "Everything I Never Told You"... made Ng an auto-buy author for me and this one is on my TBR), and the Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle sounds very intriguing! 3y
See All 8 Comments
MrsMalaprop @MellieAntoinette Thanks. I am feeling that something uplifting & a little lighter could be good 😊. 3y
LeeRHarry All the votes to Eucalyptus! 😊 3y
Hooked_on_books Little Fires Everywhere would be a great choice. It‘s a terrific book and there‘s lots to talk about. 3y
Lizpixie I loved The Seven Deaths Of Evelyn Hardcastle, it‘s like a meld of Clue, Dame Agatha & Groundhog Day.👍 3y
Rissreads As you know I adored On earth (but it is brutal, so maybe too heavy?) I really enjoyed 7 deaths and Eucalyptus is in my bookspin 20 books and has been all year! Maybe it will come up in May? I‘ve heard great things about The night circus and Gentleman. I can‘t wait to see what you go with! 3y

Decisions, decisions- what genre should I read next? And yes my kindle is very old 😂
@Avanders I‘m drinking the cinnamon chai- it‘s awesome!

Chrissyreadit What did you choose? 3y
Literary_Siren That was my first kindle! I loved it but it shot shit. 3y
BethM @Chrissyreadit I started a cozy and then changed my mind and flipped to a romance. 3y
BethM @Literary_Siren it‘s a workhorse! I‘m worried it may be nearing the end of its life though- I definitely have some screen burn in and may be approaching some battery life issues. 3y

Help me decide. I love my online reading groups (3 on Goodreads - Chunksters, Tea and Scones, Chewing Leaves). I finished all my challenges except 1 (have 15 left. I want to do Booked2020 again, Century Reads, US, and Read Harder. I just asked to join 2 more discussions - Children's Classics and Camilla Lachberg. I also do the lmpbc. Love it ALL

My quandary - I want to join @MrBook and @BarbaraTheBibliophage

What to do? What to do?

Butterfinger I need an intervention. 3y
ReadingOver50 One year I did too many challenges and felt I wasn‘t reading for fun, just to complete prompts. So now I limit myself to one or two challenges only. 3y
Butterfinger @ReadingOver50 I do it to fulfill a need. I feel like there is something missing in my life. I want to go back to school. It's my heart's desire, but it isn't what is best for my family. My oldest goes to college next year and my youngest needs me more at home. So instead of getting my doctorate, the challenges fit that need. Thank you so much for listening to me vent. 3y
MrBook Do what you want and what you‘re comfortable doing. We‘re all here for you. 🤗 3y
sprainedbrain I‘m a challenge addict, so I‘m probably no help. I am pairing down a little this year, but couldn‘t resist the mysteries and memoirs with Barbara... 😊 3y

Help me choose!! What should my next read be? I can't decide!! This is my current TBR shelf. (Miss Burma is the book on the far left that got cut off.) I also have You by Caroline Kepnes from the library which I haven't started yet. What's your suggestion?

BookwormAHN Circe was really good. 4y
Redwritinghood Tough choice, but I would go with Circe as it‘s up for the Women‘s Prize. 4y

Help!!! #BOTM - I‘m not sure if I would like any of this months choices. None are jumping at me. I LOVE character driven books. I prefer a happy ending. My taste in books is wildly eclectic and often does not make sense to me. Any suggestions?

Rachel.Rencher I'm skipping this month 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y
AmyG I‘m skipping, too. I have too many books as it is. 4y
phatsallylee I picked miracle creek but i'm not sure that will have a happy ending. 4y

Gissy I wish this company could ship to PR!😢Miracle Creek sounds interesting and Normal People has good ratings. 4y
hermyknee I picked Lost & Wanted which I think will be weird and mind bending and I‘ll definitely have to tackle when I‘m in the mood for that - maybe this summer. 4y
rachaich Normal People has ace reviews. 4y
CouronneDhiver If none are jumping out at you, maybe skip and read something from your shelves instead? No sense in choosing just to pick something 4y
Redwritinghood You can skip and pick one up on a later month if you change your mind. 4y
