I'm switching things up for #QueerBC in 2026 as I'm really struggling with the monthly schedule

I'm going to randomly pull 3 authors for each month and then you'll vote on them December 2025 so it's all done before the year starts

The author will still be a surprise and voted for by you, this is just a bit easier on me

The Forgotten Dead was my favourite in October. Ship of Magic just won out, I love both but SoM has a lot of nostalgia

A really enjoyable short story. I like the quirky human befriends monsters trope. This one also had office organization which I also enjoy 😅

I don't really read horror books. I'm not sure if I just don't get on with the genre or I didn't get on with this.

The premise was great, the execution less so. I found this so boring. The first half of the book was painfully slow though it did pick up later on.

I have not been great at tagging this as I go, very sorry!

There's no way I'm getting the last one. None of the books I may read tonight are set in the 80s

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first book. The pacing was off and I didn't like the ending

It's still an entertaining read. I would definitely recommend the first book though

Tomorrow is the last day of #HauntedShelf! I'm going to be doing a last push readathon which will run 6pm-midnight GMT (feel free to run your own in your own time zone)

I might do sprints on Discord if people are around, I'll do some more Cluedo things and generally try and get a few extra points!

Managed to read this during sprints so that was fun!

This is a lot denser than the first book. There is so much mythology and information that it got a little bit overwhelming.

I read the first one several years ago and the sequel is equally as charming. It's a fun, easy read with quirky characters and a somewhat plot.
