Good morning, everyone! The moment you have all been waiting for!! Our official #BookSpin number is FOURTEEN! Our official #DoubleSpin number is SEVEN!! I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at everyone‘s lists & am really looking forward to seeing your reviews!!

My next post will be the #BookSpinBingo card. I am NOT tagging anyone on that post!! If you want to bingo, please just check my profile for the card. This saves me having to double tag ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont‘d) everyone/keep track of who wants to bingo and who doesn‘t!!

I use the same tag list for the entire year, so if you would like to be added or removed, please just let me know. It takes me a while to tag everyone (there are a lot of you!!!) so I will add “FINISHED” to the last tag batch so you know whether or not I missed you. If I did, it was completely inadvertent. Sometimes I just spell someone‘s username wrong. ⬇

Thanks for playing, everyone!! Please know that I read EVERY comment on this post but don't always ⬇
2mo
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) have time to reply to them all!! Thank you all so much for your enthusiasm and for making this challenge SO much fun!!

I'm going to post the Bingo board, and then come back and start the tag list on this post. Happy reading!!!

Singout @Lcsmcat I still have the copy I stole from my parents shelf in the early 80s when I was a preteen. They were making me pull dandelions: I was making them drink roasted roots for coffee. 2mo

I'm currently spinning a blend of alpaca, silk and wool. I plan on chain plying it, making it a 3 ply yarn with finished. I'm not sure what I will make with it. It will depend on how many yards I get after plying. @Catsandbooks

julesG Gorgeous colour. 3mo

I finished spinning some laceweight vicuña yarn recently. It is an expensive fiber due to availability. This is .3 of an ounce and was a bucket list fiber for me. #showandtelltuesday #litsycrafters Hosted by @Catsandbooks

Catsandbooks Wow! Looks so soft! 🌟 4mo
bookishbitch @Catsandbooks It is one of the softest fibers in the world to spin! It feels amazing. 4mo
PaperbackPirate What are you going to make with it? 😍 4mo
bookishbitch @PaperbackPirate It will likely end up as an accent area in a project I have in mind for some qiviut yarn I also spun. Although I'm about to spin some cashmere too, so it might depend on how well the colors go together with either yarn. 4mo
tpixie Gorgeous 3mo
Lindy Lovely! I can imagine the softness. Did you make the bowl also? My current project, End Times by Amy Gunderson, is using up small balls of qiviut purchased at my guild‘s fibre auction. 3mo
bookishbitch @Lindy I did not make the bowl. It is from a company called scout and bean. I have several in various blues. Your project looks lovely! 3mo
Lindy @bookishbitch Thanks Marie. 3mo

Finally have my list together for August‘s #bookspin. Not totally happy with it, but my brain is not braining and I had to throw a couple things on there when I realized that my original list duplicated titles. 🤦🏻‍♀️ There are five NetGalley titles that publish in August, a sequel I‘ve been dying to get my hands on for six months, #CampLitsy, and books I really want to read. We‘ll see how the month goes.

uncommonlycozies this is an incredible list of book 🙌 4mo

Reread Unraveling for a traveling book club at my library. I hosted today‘s meeting at the NRT (Natural Resources Trust) Sheep Pasture. It was just as good as when I read it the first time — & the book club attendees agreed! How can you not love a book which begins, “Sheep don‘t look like they‘d be slippery.” It explores the process of making a sweater — from shearing the sheep, to spinning & carding the wool, to dyeing and (finally) knitting.👇🏻

monalyisha 1/1: It also explores the author‘s personal grief (her mother‘s recent death, her father‘s fast decline due to dementia, and her daughter‘s imminent departure for college), and her global grief during the pandemic as she yearns for community and climate justice. A+ research and writing. I especially enjoyed the section about natural dyes. Just fab. 🐑 6mo
monalyisha *Note: Book Club participants were treated to a live demo and a chance to get their hands on the tools of the trade: carding, spinning, and knitting (or crocheting). Here I am, working on my crone skills so I can fulfill my calling to live in an overgrown cottage on the edge of the forest. 🍃 6mo
Ruthiella I loved learning that the word “distaff” meaning “female” comes from this craft. 6mo

Soubhiville Sounds like a really cool and informative day! 6mo
ravenlee I‘ve always wanted to try spinning. I have a spindle but it‘s not something I‘ve been able figure out on my own, and it doesn‘t have the same draw as a spinning wheel in my imagination. 6mo
monalyisha @ravenlee I found the drop spindle pretty challenging! 6mo

I'm shocked I haven't heard of this book until now. As a handspinner myself, I was pretty familiar with the subject matter. That said, I still learned a lot along the way. I enjoyed her writing and thoughts and reflections on the industry. And yes, this is just a fraction of my own wool stash. The grey in the middle is jacob wool that is slated to become a sweater. My daughter is going to knit it for me once I'm finished spinning it.

julesG ❤️❤️❤️ I'm admiring your stash. And now I want to find my drop spindle and buy some yarn. 9mo
julesG Fleece!!! My brain was already thinking of yarn and knitting 9mo
bookishbitch @JulesGreads I understand! My brain does that too. What kind of drop spindle do you use? 9mo

MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm Fiber stash! 😍 I‘ve been knitting more than spinning lately but now I too am itching to dig out one of my spindles and fleece. 😅 I also need to get my hands on this book. Stacked for sure! 9mo
bookishbitch @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm what kind of spindles do you use? I'm a high whorler. 9mo
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm @bookishbitch I have a bottom whorl and a Navajo spindle. I‘m still getting the hang of the big Navajo one. 😅 9mo
bookishbitch @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm I learned on a bottom whorl. I've not tried a Navajo yet. It looks challenging. 9mo
MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm When I bought it, the shop owner was so excited, she said, “I‘ve never met anyone that knew how to use it.” I had to break it to her that I didn‘t, but I had watched some YouTube videos and figured; since I‘d already taught myself how to spin with a drop spindle; I could learn. I have yet to feel like I‘ve got the hang of it. It‘s a whole different animal. It‘s not something I can easily carry and pull out anywhere, so it‘s strictly a home hobby. 9mo
bookishbitch @MegaWhoppingCosmicBookwyrm YouTube is amazingly helpful! 9mo
