Chocolates for Breakfast
Chocolates for Breakfast | Pamela Moore
19 posts | 4 read | 2 to read
Courtney Farrell is a disaffected, sexually precocious fifteen-year-old. She splits her time between Manhattan, where her father works in publishing, and Los Angeles, where her mother is a still-beautiful Hollywood actress. After a boarding-school crush on a female teacher ends badly, Courtney sets out to learn everything fast. Her first drink is a very dry martini, and her first kiss the beginning of a full-blown love affair with an older man.A riveting coming-of-age story, Chocolates for Breakfast became an international sensation upon its initial publication in 1956, and it still stands out as a shocking and moving account of the way teenagers collide, often disastrously, against love and sex for the first time.

The candle smells amazing and my daughter has already tried to steal my pumpkin because it‘s “sooooo cuuuute and fluuuuuffffy!!” I may have already had a couple chocolates and hidden them from said daughter haha.

My favorite chocolate treat is any good quality dark chocolate. Just a couple of squares. This one is almost always in my cupboard.

My “everyday” chocolate treat would be a Twirl, but when something special is called for, it has to be something from Lindt.

We were regifted this bad boy by Paul‘s daughter. Her half sister works at the chocolate store at the Mall of America and gave it to her and she didn‘t want it so she left it with us. We have made a dent.

Dec 15th #WinterReadathonDailyChallenge #WinterReadathon

Most people love chocolate (usually too much) but I wondered how many of us knew today was National Chocolate Covered Anything Day 🤣 Given this, just couldn‘t ignore this, today‘s Daily Challenge is to post your favourite chocolate covered treats or chocolate themed books.

10 extra points if you can combine the 2.

Clwojick Hmmm. I do love a good chocolate covered almond, but I‘ll pretty much eat it all. With the exception of chocolate covered gummy bears…. Those are disgusting 🫣 2y
Andrew65 @Clwojick Yep, they do sound disgusting! 🤢 2y

julieclair Chocolate covered cherries... The kind with the sugary syrup center. Yum! 2y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Chocolate covered strawberries are delicious! If I'm covering anything in chocolate, it's definitely strawberries. But I may also have a huge Trader Joe's tray of chocolate covered cherries hiding in the pantry right now. 😋🍓🍒 2y

1. I love breakfast (at any time of the day), so that‘s a tough question. I‘m going to go with a sweet crepe with berries, chocolate or honey, & fresh whipped cream.
2. The Magic Restroom Cafe, Industry, CA. Bathroom decor & toilet-bowl dishes. Sadly, I think it‘s closed now.
3. Yes
4. Hm, not sure as I‘ve had all my favorite flavors.
5. 👋🏻 Happy Hump Day! Everyone‘s invited to play!

1. Chocolate chip waffles. But I normally have gf bagels or fried eggs.
2. I honestly have no idea.
3. Depends on what I‘m eating. Sometimes, but not usually.
4. I wish I could final dairy free, gluten free pistachio ice cream
5. Tagging my #BFCr2 teammates! #SmallSteppers @hes7 @TK421 @TheDaysGoBy @TheWordJar @jessinikkip @LapReader @ScarletQuill

1. Easter eggs on Easter morning or freshly squeezed OJ and marmalade toast (preferably prepared by my lovely grandparents who don‘t act too surprised when I roll up for breakfast with no warning)
2. I‘ve just heard of a Viking themed restaurant in Melbourne... fun!
3. I‘m sadly not coordinated enough to manage this
4. I‘m always surprised at all the flavours that are on offer when I venture into an ice cream establishment, tbh

Republished in 2013 by Harper Perennial, described as "a rediscovered classic" from 1956. A precocious teenager bounces from boarding school to Hollywood to New York and finds it increasingly hard to be herself in the rigid, elitist society into which she was born.

Scandalous in the 1950s looks a lot like "Gossip Girl" of the 2000s.
