Book 1 is the first book that I can remember. My mom read this to me over and over when I was a baby, and I had her keep reading to me almost every day when I was a little guy, even though I had it memorized long before I could ever read. The Pokey Little Puppy helped make me a book lover from infancy.

I would like to read this book to my class whenever they are having a hard time behaving and kind of teach them that if they aren't doing what they're asked, certain opportunities can be taken away.
I like this book, but it's kind of lengthy so depending on the audience, you may not keep their attention for very long. However, it is about puppies and children tend to really like them. It also kind of teaches a lesson on behaving and such since the mom of the puppies is displeased that they've been digging under the fence and denies them dessert.
I liked when the puppies started to smell food and noticed it was rice pudding so they all sprinted home.
This book would be good for kindergarteners and 1st graders. Its a small book for kids starting to read. The storyline about a puppy is a great way to introduce animals into the classroom.

Next up in my series of books that have left an impression on me #LizsLibraryLoves is the Little Golden Books. I loved these as a kid, they were cheap so we could afford them, and they were bright, interesting & easy to read for 4year old me. My sister used to read to me at night until she stopped, so I picked up Scuffy The Tugboat & started reading it myself. My faves were Poky Little Puppy, Tootle & Scuffy because I dreamed of floating away.
