Cupcakes for Christmas
Cupcakes for Christmas | Kate Hewitt
16 posts | 8 read | 2 to read
Always the baker, never the bride Olivia James has always been happy running a tea shop and bakery in the Cotswold village of Wychwood-on-Lea, and helping her friends find their happily-ever-afters, topped by the perfect wedding cake. But as Christmas approaches, Olivia is home alone and questioning her choices while eating too many of her own specialty confections. When Simon Blacklock, a handsome, whimsical stranger, breezes into her shop and buys a cupcake and then returns the next day and the day after, Olivia begins to dream. Can romance blossom amidst the sugar and flour? And after a lifetime of living on the side lines, is she brave enough to star in her own story? Simon may be hiding a painful secret, but Olivia harbors secrets of her own. If they can dare to risk their hearts, this Christmas might be the most magical yet!

Dec 15th #WinterReadathonDailyChallenge #WinterReadathon

Today is National Cupcake Day, so for today‘s Daily Challenge post pictures of your favourite cakes or cupcakes, or books with cake or cupcakes in the title.

As usual 20 points for any posts on the daily challenge but a 10 point bonus if you actually made the cakes or cupcakes yourself, or if you‘ve read the book.

Loved returning to Willoughby Close and this time we get to spend time with Olivia from the Tea Shop, and the people from the previous series play cameo roles. Olivia is trying to make the tea shop profitable but at the same time is handling her mum‘s developing illness, when a man comes into the shop at the end of the day to buy a cupcake. Could love develop over a cup cake? Loved it.

6th book finished for #WinterReadathon

Starting off today with the tagged book, the first book in the Return to Willoughby Close Series. Really enjoyed the Willoughby Close Series last year, which started off with A Cotswold Christmas. Looking forward to returning to the close.

#WinterReadathon @DieaReader @Ghabi4roses

Read4life I enjoyed Willoughby Close as well. This return book is on my #BookSpinBingo list this month. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. 1y
Andrew65 @Read4life Halfway through and enjoying it so far. Keeping up a similar feel to the original series, with characters from that series appearing. 1y
Read4life I‘m looking forward to it. 1y

Breakfast with one of the three novels I‘ve got a bookmark in at the mo. Yesterday I tried to make marshmallow fluff, and I dunno whether the recipe was faulty or there was something in the bowl, but it came out way runnier than I think it should be. I don‘t dare use it in the recipe it was intended for, so I substituted it for condensed milk in my go-to French toast recipe. It was pretty tasty.

Anyone wanting a Christmas themed book to read for the Christmas season, or for #WinterGames2021, this book is currently free, well at least in U.K., and worth checking elsewhere.

Free across all e-book platforms by the look of it.

Ahw06 Free in the US too ☺️. Thanks for the rec! 2y

#WeeklyForecast - I should be able to finish my #BookSpinBingo board this week!! I'm not sure yet if I going to work in a few bonus holiday reads like the tagged book (already on my Kindle) or jump into January's books, which are already piling up on the TBR shelf. Decisions, decisions.
@Cinfhen

Crazeedi I just posted a message on one of your previous posts, I'm terrible at challenges, not sure what I might do. My "eyes" are bigger than my "stomach" if you know what I mean! Thank you 3y
Cinfhen Decisions, decisions 😜 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Crazeedi - I just send you the crazy slideshow that I made for @Cinfhen when she made the mistake of asking me about my Litsy bujo!! 😂 3y

Crazeedi @TheAromaofBooks oh thank you! I'm not sure how I'm going to go about and what I'll accomplish but I have a room full of craft supplies and i need to get back to doing something. I'll probably stay rather simple this year! 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Crazeedi - Most of my bujo involves printing out graphics & taping them into the journal, so it's nothing too fancy!! My main thing is remembering what challenges I'm interested in & who is hosting them, so the easiest way to track that for me is to have them all in one place. This year I have all of the challenges that are going to last the full year at the beginning of my notebook & then the second half of the book I'm going to do by month ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks for challenges that are just for that month or a few days (like #24B4Monday). So whenever I finish a book, I just look through those beginning pages & see if the book I just finished checks off any of my challenge prompts!! 3y
Cinfhen I LOVED that slide show @Crazeedi I watched it again last night!! It‘s super helpful, sarah 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Cinfhen - hahaha I can't believe you watched it again 😂 I need to go into cheap bujo consulting apparently!! 3y
OutAndAbout @TheAromaofBooks you know you‘re going to have to share that slideshow with all of us now, right? 🤔🤣 3y
TheAromaofBooks @OutAndAbout - LOL It's really not that great but I am more than willing to send it to anyone who wants to see it 😂 3y
OutAndAbout @TheAromaofBooks I‘d love to see it. Do you need my email or is it on a Google doc or something? 3y
TheAromaofBooks @OutAndAbout - It's a Google Slides presentation so I think this link will work??? Let me know if it doesn't - I'm actually not super techy... which is why I print everything out and tape it in a notebook 😂 https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1LkQgsbjvYQv-u2NTNeuDVdcQtz-zQsGoMMoULmna... 3y
TheAromaofBooks @OutAndAbout - as a sidenote, the notebook that I use is a grid-lined composition book, so super cheap (I can get a dozen of them for $20 on Amazon) & easy to decorate. I like them because some of my pages go one way & others go sideways & the grid line means I always have lines to write on/line up my washi tape with haha 3y
OutAndAbout “Wait, wow, why was I using that boring default font??” 😂🤣 You may be my new favorite person. I do some very similar things in my planner, lots of images printed out and lists of things that may work for different challenges or prompts. Thanks so much for sharing your set up and your sense of humor. (Also glad to see Colorado made the list this year!) 3y
TheAromaofBooks @OutAndAbout - I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was my first time working with that program so I was experimenting as I went along 😂 You don't have to feel obligated to create an entire slideshow, but I'm always excited to see photos of what other folks are doing with their book bujos so feel free to share!!! 3y
OutAndAbout @TheAromaofBooks I will definitely share in a future post when I get it together for next year. Not really much more than lists so it makes yours look pretty professional! 3y
Crazeedi @Cinfhen @TheAromaofBooks I'm so excited to see if I can actually remain in any challenges this year! I am so random in my reading that it seems I can never match to challenges. But I'm going to set up a notebook like you suggested, (or similar) and keep trying 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Crazeedi - My main problem is that I'm not very good at finding books ahead of time to fit prompts, so I do almost all the challenges “backwards“ - I read books & then see if they fit any of my challenge prompts. That way I'm still reading books on my TBR instead of flitting around to shiny new things 😂 3y
Crazeedi @TheAromaofBooks that's what I'm going to try! 3y
Bookgoil How do I join Bookspinbingo? I keep seeing it and see that you host! ❤️ 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Bookgoil - So the challenge started with plain #BookSpin. Participants create a list of 20 books they've been meaning to read. Then on the 2nd of the month I draw 2 numbers (BookSpin/DoubleSpin) & everyone tries to read those books from their lists. But as we went on (I just started this challenge last January haha) a lot of people wanted to read more than just 2 books, which is where the Bingo part comes in. Now on the 2nd after I draw the two ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) “official“ numbers I also draw out ALL the numbers, randomly placing them in a bingo card. The people try to read the numbered books from their lists to score bingos. I have a master post that probably explains it better here - https://www.litsy.com/web/post/1989556 - but all you have to do to join is make your list & tag me when you post it!! Also, most people still just make a list of 20 & then for the bingo you have 5 free spaces ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) since there are 25 spots on a bingo board, but you can also make your list be for the full 25 books if you prefer. The official BookSpin/DoubleSpin numbers always come from the 1-20 list. Just let me know if you have any questions!! I tend to get all rambly & forget pertinent information!! 😂 3y
Bookgoil I had a friend help explain too! I have a list of 20 so I‘ll lurk on your page on the 2nd and make a bingo board. Excited to play! ❤️ 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Bookgoil - I'll even tag you on the 2nd so you don't miss the fun!! 3y
Bookgoil Thanks much appreciated!! 3y
OutAndAbout @thearomaofbooks

I blame you for this.

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/e/2PACX-1vSSrweB9VVOLydD5NfljSX4U7KuDlxS0...

It was helpful to review this year though and see what I've learned!
3y
TheAromaofBooks @OutAndAbout - You just MADE MY DAY!!! I love it!! Also I signed up for StoryGraph a while back but haven't really don't anything with it. As I get with all new social media, I feel a bit overwhelmed there. But I'm definitely interested in moving away from the Amazon-based Goodreads, especially considering I don't use GR for anything other than looking up books & tracking what I've read - I don't have any TBRs there; all of my TBRs are on ⬇ 3y
TheAromaofBooks Excel spreadsheets haha I just need to take some time & explore SG to find out how it works & see how it is best for me to use it. But I've been hearing a lot of positive things about it!!! I'm also glad to hear that your GR crash did lead you to Litsy - I've genuinely fallen in love with this community; it's the only social media I'm really involved in. 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Cupcake12 - Earlier in the comments on this post I had a link to a slideshow I made for another Litten with pictures of some of my journal pages & then @OutAndAbout made one as well 😂 So feel free to check them out for inspiration if you want to!!! 3y

A sweet little Christmas romance that also touches on issues such as mental health and aging.
#wintergames2020 #merryreaders #tbrread 15+1+15 (bookspin bonus) = 31pts

This was also my #bookspin book! #bookspinbingo

Clwojick ♥️❄️💚Way to go! 💙🌟🎄 3y
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! Great progress!! As a side note, BookSpin & DoubleSpin books are worth a bonus 15 points on top of everything else!! 3y

Laughterhp You should have counted it as a holiday read instead of a TBR read to get extra points! 3y
OriginalCyn620 @Laughterhp my entire tbr this month is all holiday books, so I‘m counting the ones from my tbr as that. I posted my tbr before the start of the month, so I‘m just trying to be honest! 😂 if I read others, I‘ll count them as holiday. 3y
Laughterhp You‘re a better person than I am 😂 I only have a handful of holiday reads on my TBR and I‘m counting them as holiday reads. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 3y

This was really quite sweet. It‘s very quiet, and not that much happens. But it was a gentle and heartfelt Christmas read.
