A classic with a #Zombie spin. I liked the book fine, but I really enjoyed the movie more! 🧟🩶
I read this a few years ago and thought it was good fun!

This was ok. With the addition of the zombies, a couple of big fight scenes livened things up a bit! I was amused with Charlotte‘s illness. The zombies did seem out of place in the book. The notes at the end of the book were interesting and one did touch on how it might not have been so out of place to add zombies into the book with the popularity of gothic fiction at the time it was written. I‘m not a huge fan of retellings. But a rewriting of a classic book with zombies now worked in? Apparently I‘m a fan! I thought this was clever and fun and it definitely made me laugh in several places. I‘m glad I finally got to it!

It‘s not Christmasy but I couldn‘t help but think of Elizabeth Bennet killing zombies in elegant #gloves. 🤷🏻♀️
Thank you so much @Magpiegem I feel thoroughly spoiled! I love that the books are second hand, I have been trying not to buy new too! The bookmark is EVERYTHING, I love it sooo much! Thank you for putting so much thought into it all, it genuinely made my day 🧡🎃🧡🎃🧡

Watching Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I needed a zombie movie for one of my movie bingos... so... BINGO!

This was HILARIOUS. I love P&P and this version was great. This spin had me laughing out loud constantly. I‘m not sure it was meant to be funny, but as my friend Pamela, said “I don‘t see how any book about zombies would be meant to be serious.” Book #63 in 2021
I enjoyed this far more than I expected to, and it definitely beats the film version of the same. It‘s the story of P&P, but England endures a plague of zombies and the Bennets are Shaolin-trained warriors. Kind of gruesome but quite funny. Lady Catherine is a ninja!! https://cannonballread.com/2021/08/pride-and-prejudice-and-zombies-elcicco/

Enjoy!
Well! This audiobook broke me out of my reading slump 😎I‘ve always ignored it because I thought there was no way something with zombies would ever be my thing. I picked this up due to the #Pemberlittens watch parties and it was just so charming! Somehow they made it match the story and the reworked parts were well written and fun! Lizzy, Jane and Darcy were especially badass! Some fun jokes and an EPIC battle scene towards the end!

🎥 This looks fun. I still need to read “Pride and Prejudice.” I hope this doesn‘t ruin it for me 😅
#Scarathlon #TeamSlaughter @Clwojick
Really picking up steam with the adaptations! This one will never not be funny to me; the first proposal scene is gold, and Matt Smith as Collins pretty much makes the whole thing. 😂🤣😂 #PemberLittens, how do you feel about this one?
#pemberlittens #p&padaptation
My first and only adaptation I‘ve read of the original and it was worth it. A little more gruesome and alteration in the characters storyline considering the theme of the story but I‘d read it again.
I‘ll be watching the movie next but something about watching a different Darcy that isn‘t Macfadyen or Firth feels weird. Macfadyen is my forever Darcy! 😍
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Book description ⬇️
Zoom invites have been emailed to everyone signed up for Friday‘s watch party (7 pm Central) for Pride & Prejudice & Zombies!
I‘ve never seen this movie, and the trailer scared me, so this will be fine. 😂
There‘s still time to sign up for this or any other remaining watch parties!

Tries to be witty & clever, but fails on both counts for me. 2⭐️
I can‘t help give this a pick: it‘s Jane‘s Pride and Prejudice, chapter for chapter, with (as the title and cover hint so delicately) zombies added in. The Bennet girls are badass zombie killers (as is Darcy and even Lady Catherine?!), Wickham gets a satisfying end, and Lydia is still a twit. The zombie additions are funny, and I loved the little sexual innuendos sprinkled throughout.
Looking forward to the movie!

This is a soft pick. The thing I liked most about it is also why it‘s a soft pick - it‘s the actual P and P text verbatim with a few zombie bits sprinkled in here and there. Feels like about 80% Jane 20% zombies. The juxtaposition is quite jarring and funny especially on audio but it‘s a little underwhelming. #Scarathlon2020 #TeamHarkness Team Theme Read, plus 11 hours for #Screamathon and #Gothtober Bones prompt.
“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.”🧟♀️
#FirstLineFridays #Scararhlon2020 #TeamHarkness
There are some very funny moments, particularly in the first quarter, but mostly this is just P&P with a few insertions about zombies and juvenile jokes about balls and pooping. Lizzie is also turned into a homicidal maniac, and others, including Darcy, are cruel and violent; most of that isn't even humorous. It might have been less boring if I hadn't just read P&P.
Started on today‘s #audiodogwalk.
Looking forward to #Pemberlittens watch party of the film!

And this definitely fits the #TeamHarkness #Scarathlon2020 theme (+1 point)

"The business of Mr. Bennet's life was to keep his daughters alive. The business of Mrs. Bennet's was to get them married." Ha! Moving right along from finishing the original into this heap of silliness!
How about a #BuddyRead and/or a watch party for P&P & Zombies?
Here‘s my tentative plan, but I‘m open to suggestions:
The book has 61 chapters: for those who want to buddy read, read at your own pace from October 1-22.
I would be willing to host 1 or 2 watch parties the weekend of 10/23-10/26. Based on sign-ups so far, I‘m thinking Friday 10/23 7 pm my time (US Central) and Saturday 10/24 at 7 pm Central may work.
Thoughts?
#PemberLittens
It‘s been years since I read P&P. I really enjoyed revisiting the story. The image of the five sisters as warriors against the dead will stick with me when I next rewatch the BBC series. 🧟♀️🧟🧟♂️
#PemberLittens
Let‘s talk retellings! These are but a few—what are yours?
I‘m definitely reading P&P & Zombies (works well for October) and Bridget Jones, and I hope to watch the movies, too.
I‘ve read and loved Pride and Eligible.❤️
Pride & Premeditation and Unmarriageable are on my list.
Heart Stone is a retelling WITH DRAGONS!
On Stranger Prides: Darcy is a freaking pirate and apparently there is smut? I can‘t make this stuff up, folks.😂
“But I am perfectly content being the bride of death.”
This book to me was amazing from start to finish. It turn the Bennet sisters into a force to be reckoned with instead of women who needed to be recued. Seth Grahame-Smith stay true to the book for the most part with some minor changes to include the zombies.
Victories were celebrated, defeats lamented, defeats lamented. And the sisters Bennet-servants of His Majesty, protectors of Hertfordshire, beholders of the secrets of Shaolin, and brides of death-were now three of them, brides of man, their swords quieted by that only force more powerful than any warriors.
The End
😱 😱This book has pointed out one thing I was not aware I lacked. “Sagacity.“ Explains a few things. I hope I can work on acquiring it.
Sagacity - acuteness of mental discernment and soundness of judgment. 😱
This book is so clever. I‘m really enjoying it. It gave me an excuse to rewatch the BBC P&P this weekend just to make sure I remembered the general plot. Any excuse for Colin Firth. 💙
My cat doesn‘t share my affection for Colin but appreciates a beautiful Sunday morning. ☀️🌳
Well Wickham is not eaten by zombies but I am not unhappy with what Seth has done here. But the book still have a way to go he can still bet eaten by a zombie.
😪 😪 😪Rest in peace. CC. Their are several other characters I could have suggested Seth eliminated. I am still plague by Mrs. Bennett and Mr. Wickham. SMH.
If there are zombies about don't go for a stroll in the park. (Thank you all for bearing with me throughout this novel. It is almost over. But so good.) 😂
I wonder what it is like having a friend that is 3/4 dead?
Elizabeth in Pride and Prejudice is very eloquent, but I find her greatly entertaining is this version. So glad I picked it up.
Elizabeth shook her head over this letter, Jan was a fine killer, but a deficient judge of character. Indeed, her only weakness was her too-giving heart. Elizabeth was quite convinced that Caroline Bingley had no intention of telling her brother about the visit, or even Jane's being in town. Once again, her thoughts turned tot he satisfaction of seeing Miss Bingley's last rubies pour from her neck down the front of her bodice.
#3books #ihated or at least REALLY disliked....
- Adding the Zombies to a Pride & Prejudice may have been funny in theory, but in practice just seemed like a pointless gimmick that added nothing...
- All the repetitive ‘Inner Goddess‘ nonsense in 50 shades was just ridiculous!
- #unpopularopinion time... I found Bill Bryson to be smug, really bigoted and thinks he‘s a lot funnier than he is. Put me off reading anything else by him.
It was followed in short order by a pair of weasel, then a skunk, then a fox and her pups. More creatures followed and in ever-increasing numbers; as if Noah himself beckoned, offering refuge form some unseen flood. By the time dear began to leap across their path, the other girls had their muskets trained on the the tree line, ready for the heard of zombies they suspected would appear at any moment.
The conversation with Lizzy and Wickham annoyed me in the original book, and know that he turned out really aggravates me now. Like I said before, I hope Seth gives him to the zombies. Yes I know that will require a major rewrite, but a girl can have something to look forward to. Thanks Litsy. You are so awesome.
