This book is placed in the second person by using the word “you” throughout it. This is very interesting because it lets children imagine what would happen if they were in the hippo‘s shoes.

I would read this book to a toddler or preschool classroom on a student's birthday. Everyone can laugh at this book, even if it isn‘t their birthday.

This book is very silly. All of the birthday monsters come to the hippos house and will not leave. The illustrations are very fun to look at as the hippo gets more and more annoyed in every page. Overall, this is a great read for younger children.

I missed out on a lot of reading time this weekend helping my sister prep for my nephew's first birthday party. It was totally worth it - that kid owns my heart. 💙🎂💙

Me in just a couple hours! Going out for my birthday with my hubby and my dog- dinner, a good long walk, and drinks at a cafe where we can watch the famous Congress Bridge Bats come out for their evening hunt. I love that Austin is dog friendly enough that my girl can join us!

My little boy turns four tomorrow but we celebrated today with a barbecue in the backyard and his requested "chocolate everything" cake with sprinkles and raspberries. So haven't had much time for reading this weekend, with cake making and present wrapping and merrymaking!

We celebrated Little Man's birthday today (it's on Wednesday). So, I haven't gotten much reading done today. You guys!!! I wanted to reply to each and every one of you who wished me a happy birthday. But, there were so many and I had such a busy day! Today (well yesterday now) was my husband's birthday. Parker was fascinated by the candles. She's always overwhelmed at her own birthday parties and she can't eat cake.
