Make Me | Lee Child
Jack Reacher has no place to go, and all the time in the world to get there, so a remote railroad stop on the prairie with the curious name of Mother's Rest seems perfect for an aimless one-day stopover. He expects to find a lonely pioneer tombstone in a sea of nearly-ripe wheat ... but instead there is a woman waiting for a missing colleague, a cryptic note about two hundred deaths, and a small town full of silent, watchful people. Reachere(tm)s one-day stopover becomes an open-ended quest...into the heart of darkness. Prepare to be nailed to your seat by another hair-raising, heart-pounding adventure from the kick ass master of the thriller genre!

I love Jack and therefore I'm incredibly biased towards this series. Yes I know every book follows the same formula and yes they become somewhat predictable but I don't care. The writing, the characters, the plotlines are as familiar as comfy trainers and sometimes that's what we need in a book.

Content warning in this one for the Dark Web and suicide along with Jack's usual violence.

Another excellent Jack Reacher story. I had no idea where this investigation was going. Reacher and his sidekick Chang travel the country to get this one solved. They go deep into their search for Chang‘s missing work associate and uncover way more than they expected. #MountTBR

Lee Child is a brilliant storyteller. But, you need parience to sit through his books. Same case with one. A brilliant writing! But, took many days to finish the story.

Didn't like it as much as others in the series but a good read nonetheless, as always the case with Reacher stories.

Time to read those stacks everybody!!!

What is your first read for the #MakeMeReadIt #Readathon?

Sunraven Still n00bing around here — how does #MakeMeReadIt work? And thanks in advance for enlightening me! 😁 5y
BeansPage @Sunraven no problem at all sweetie. So the make me read it read it on takes place over 2 months. the first month we gather together the books that we will be reading for the next month and have people vote on the order in which we will read them. the book with the most votes gets red first and so on. Then during the second month we read the books. Simple but fun. We were doing our voting in June, and now it's time to read 😊 5y
Sunraven Oh, fun! Do you do it every couple of months or is it more seasonal, or? 5y

BeansPage @Sunraven I usually do one every year around this time May - July. But don't worry, October is very fast approaching and I have LOTS of fun things planned for that month!!! 🎃 5y

One last shot at #makemereadit voting—my last post resolved one tiebreaker and added another. 😂 I‘ve narrowed the pile down to the top (only) vote-getters and my plan is to read 5 of these. I have ties for both second and fifth place—and I‘m leaving tomorrow for a week visiting in-laws, so I need to determine which of these to pack!

Vote for one or multiple titles, and feel free to vote again even if you already voted before!

AmyG A Prayer for Owen Meany...one of the best books I have EVER read. 5y

I‘m about a week late, but I just saw the return of #MakeMeReadIt and I want to play! This turned out so well for me last year—my Litsy-chosen TBR reads were some of the best books I read all year. So let‘s see if you can do it for me again! 😊 Here is a stack of 10 books from my TBR shelves—vote on which ones I should read first! I‘ll read at least the top five picks in July. BeansPage @AnansiGirl people really loved it last year. What we do is we get together a stack of books that we are going to read for the next month take a picture of it and post it. Then everybody votes on the order in which you read the books. it really helps for those of us who have trouble figuring out what to read next 6y
Julies_Bookshelf_Adventures I‘m up for it!! Let‘s do this! 6y
AnneCecilie I‘m in. Loved this way for reading my tbr. Now to start planning the books 😉 6y
Wonderwoman89 I would like to do this 6y
DuskAngelReads @TheReadingMermaid does this go for the entirety of June? I am the creator of the Ultimate ReadAThon Guide where you can find all the time for upcoming ReadAThons! I would love to add this one to the calendar if you could give me some details. 😊 https://teamup.com/ksn46fz7xmx6dn9puk 6y
BeansPage @DuskAngelReads hey there! I guess it actually takes place over 2 month's time. in June we will be selecting and voting on the books and then in July we will actually be reading the books that have been voted on. I would love to be added to the list however. What kind of details do you need? 6y
DuskAngelReads Just dates, if there is an announcement anywhere, then links to that would be helpful. Any rules that people need to know & who the hosts are so I can give credit and also so people know where to be looking if they want to participate. Basically any details you would give someone who has never participated before. 😊😊 6y
BeansPage @DuskAngelReads okay, so for the month of June what we will be doing is choosing a stack of books that we will read for the month of July. We then take a picture of the stack of books and post it here on Litsy. Then everyone votes on the order of the books to be read (I.E. the book with the most votes gets read first then so on and so forth). Then in July we read them in the order voted on. 6y
BeansPage I am the host. I will be commenting and be being tagged in all of the posts. I will also be promoting this on my website as part of Litsy Happenings. You can find my website here: TamaraTheReadingMermaid.weebly.com 6y
BeansPage @DuskAngelReads Andrew and I also host a read-a-thon every last weekend of the month if you are interested in promoting that as well. It is called #24B4Monday by me and @Andrew65 . It is pretty big here on Litsy and is just starting to take off on Instagram and Facebook. 6y
DuskAngelReads Awesome! Sure can add both. Where can it be found on Insta & Facebook? Just so I can link those aswell. 😊 6y
BeansPage On Facebook I promote it through my page: The Reading Mermaid Book Blog and Boutique, as well as my book club group: The Reading Mermaid's Book Club. Then on Instagram I actually have a bookstagram and promote it there: the_reading_mermaid 6y
BeansPage @DuskAngelReads ⬆️⬆️⬆️ 6y
DuskAngelReads Also is Andrew65 a host of this one as well? Or just 24B4Monday ?? 6y
BeansPage @DuskAngelReads he is only the co-host for the 24B4Monday. I am the host for both. 6y
DuskAngelReads Awesome! Think that is all I need. Will add them both to the calendar. They will also get promoted on the @readathon_guide on Twitter & Instagram before the month they are happening. 6y
BeansPage @DuskAngelReads incredible! Thank you so very much! Do you need posters for them at all? I just make them up on pic collage and then post them once they are made. But I can send them to you earlier if you need them. 6y
BeansPage @DuskAngelReads and I just followed you on Instagram and Twitter by the way 6y
DuskAngelReads @TheReadingMermaid If you want me to share your own graphic on the Twitter & Instagram Threads then you are more than welcome to send them to me on Insta or Twitter. 😊 Also just wanted to confirm the dates for the 24B4Monday. Is it Friday, Saturday & Sunday? I noticed previous post said it was 26-28 of April, which is 3 days. Just want to make sure I have my info correct 😁 6y
BeansPage @DuskAngelReads yes that is correct. It lasts from midnight Thursday night 2 midnight Sunday night. Basically all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And great! You can also find the graphics on my Instagram in the Events highlight of my page. The one for this month has already been posted in there. 😊 6y

Love this idea from @ReadingMermaid - probably no need to explain anymore since it appears all of Litsy is participating, but I'm going to post a few books from my TBR, and let you vote on my next reads for August. Top one gets read first, 2nd next, etc. #MakeMeReadIt

I want to play along with this, which I‘m sure you‘ve all seen by now... the problem is I haven‘t decided for sure what to read in July yet! So I‘m going to wait until toward the end of the month to post my stack. I‘ll look forward to seeing what folks vote for then! In the meantime, it‘s been fun voting on everyone else‘s books!

#makemereadit

This sounds fun! If you want to participate, repost.
Then put together a stack of books that you‘d like to read in August, and your Litsy followers will vote to decide the order in which you should read them!

Thanks to @TheReadingMermaid for such a clever idea!

Here‘s my #TBR books for August. You need to vote before July 31. The book that gets the most votes, I will read first and the 2nd most votes will be my 2nd book and so forth throughout the whole 12 books. My reading order will be decided by the voters. Have fun and vote away!

The number of TBR books on my shelves is rather ridiculous so you all can vote to #makemereadit

How it works: post a picture of your stack of TBR books and your Litsy friends will vote on which one they think you should read in August. Starting August 1st, you read the one that gets the most votes first, then one that gets the second most votes and so on. See @TheReadingMermaid 's original post for details.

Photo of my stack coming soon...

The #makemereadit readathing from @TheReadingMermaid seems like a lot of fun! You post your TBR and others vote on which one to read first during the time frame. Make sure to check out her page for the full details!

I'll have to see what books I have on my TBR.

BeansPage Glad you're with us sweetie 😃 6y
